The 1911 companies are like restaurants, you have all the franchises, who's food is good enough to satisfy, but then you have the mom and pop places that know how to do it right and make it with allot of detail. Les Baer is definitely a mom and pop 1911.

Tom, your video reminded me that I had my Les Baer in the shop for repair (my fault entirely, the pistol is and will be again, flawless). I called them for a status update, mentioned it was good to see Les in your video, and they said they'd get back to me. Picking up some take-out tonight, guess who calls me? That's right, Les Baer, the man himself - I was speechless. That guy really cares about your business and makes the tightest damn 1911 in the industry, best wishes to LBC.

Les Baer will be the only custom 1911's I buy, I had an ED Brown on my list but after seeing your video and a few other channels I will NEVER own an ED Brown. Les Baer cares about his product, they(he and his employees) care about EVERY customer, and the job they do. That speaks volumes. That is the person/company I want to do business with.
After seeing how he was with you if I could own a handgun in the UK I would be wanting to buy one of his such a genuine guy and to thank you for the interview was a genuine gesture of apreciating you wanting to film and talk to him
That guy is a class act. When I'm not a broke college student I will get a Les Baer. He is great and someone I would feel better supporting then Mr. Ed Brown.

@osbornem2 20 weeks? Where did you order it from? I had mine in about a week from John at proload. He always tends to have a good amount of Baers in stock. What are you paying for it for that matter?
$2100 for a custom built 1911 as opposed to $7000 for an Ed Brown? I don't consider that too bad at all. Especially from someone who seems like a pretty decent person. Les Baer for me. Screw Ed Brown and his attitude. I guess he doesn't need the little people anymore and I certainly don't need him.
@weaponseducation Hey no problem. I have a Kimber TLE and recently purchased a Pro Carry II for EDC. I wish I could justify the expense of a top-end 1911 but I can't. I'm a working stiff with a family so kudos to those that can. But hear this: one day when I am able to I might treat myself to one these fine weapons, I'll be spending my hard earned cash with a company that respects people like me because I don't roll in the dough. E. Brown is off my list.

He seems like a class act - hope to own one of his products someday. They do also make a bolt-action .308, but I'm not 100% sure if it's available to the civilian market.
Tom, your This interview with Les Baer proves that your efforts to interview E.B. were NOT in vein after all. This one definately speaks for itself, and yes, the U-tube gun community DOES matter. E.B.'s loss- Less Baer's gain!
Les Baer also has an option that will guarantee 1/2" groups at 50 yards for an extra fee. Mountain competition pistols is the only other one i know that will do that. Les Baer and Dr. Nick are Great.

Ed Brown was a suit who didn't have the time of day for a youtuber...Les Baer is wearing a longsleeve T shirt and seems like an ordinary guy....When I go to buy my ultimate 1911 it will be a Les Baer. At 2:16 in this vid I made this decision. When I watched the Ed Brown video it affirmed it.

I haven't owned a Les Baer since 2002 (TRS). But after watching this I'd consider one maybe. This is how someone should behave when in sales. Why would Mr. Brown have an attitude? They should have had someone else at the Brown booth representing vs Mr. Brown himself. Now everyone knows the head honcho of the company doesn't care about his customers.
Les Baer is one of the best there is. His guns are built tight to last, i have had a thunder ranch model since 2000 and proably have at least 15k rounds through it and its still tight and works every time.
@weaponseducation It seems that Les Baer actually cares about his customers and is very down to earth, especially after his comments to you. When you buy a custom gun or knife, you're also buying into the makers soul slightly. Les Baer seems like it's an investment that's right, other high end companies, maybe not so. Why did other High end 1911 makers even bother to show up if they didn't want to promote anything? It's a contradiction.
Very classy guy if I ever come into money and can afford a really high end 1911 I will buy a les baer. Ed brown will not be getting any business from me or anyone I know. On a side note tom did you get any footage of the Sig sauer p226 MK25 I am so interested in that firearm but noone has anything out on it?

Les is right, as far as customs go his guns are without a doubt the best for the money. An SRP is around $2300, and he has several under $2000.
Nighthawk Custom makes awesome stuff as well and they are really nice guys and have great customer service. most of their top of the line guns are around or over $3000 though.
I have also heard that Bill Wilson is pretty unfriendly as well.
Anyone who want's to see how this guy's stuff shoot's, should go to a nra bull's eye match. At 50 yard's, the Les Baer Premier II is a surgical instrument worthy of the finest practitioners in that sport. It is a truly amazing piece of craftsmanship.
Great interview! Les seems like a good guy. If I am going to drop that much money on a pistol I would rather give my business to someone that is appreciative and will treat me right which Les seems like he would do.
Dang 2100 is a bargain compared to a Wilson Tactical or an Ed Brown...Especially if the quality is on par. I can't believe they put 120-150 rounds in it to make sure it is perfect before they send it out.
once again.. the NRA has been infiltrated with gun control advocates. I watched a video of some chairperson who is in texas on the board of the NRA saying assault weapons should be banned. The NRA does not even endorse Ron Paul who is absolutly the most pro gun, 2nd ammendment supporting congressman/presidential hopefull in the history of this nation. When the NRA pulls its head out I will join. Lifetime membership when they endorse Ron Paul.

Les Baer also has an option that will guarantee 1/2" groups at 50 yards for an extra fee. Mountain competition pistols is the only other one i know that will do that. Les Baer and Dr. Nick are Great.

Hey Tom, Really enjoyed the videos of Les and Ed Brown. Someone out there needs to provide an email address for Ed brown so we can express our disdain for his total lack of civility. It's unbelievable how a man in his position can have total disregard for the internet community and firearms lovers in general, shame on him and his company. He will never get a penny of my money. After watching the Ed Brown video and now seeing your interview with Les Baer, you could see just how grateful he was to YOU for taking the time to do a short piece on his company. Les seems like a real regular guy. I am sure others will say I will NEVER buy a Ed Brown hand gun. I WILL buy a Les Baer for sure.

Tom, I tell you honestly. I'm just a simple country boy and customer service is extremely important to me. If I was treated like you were at the shot show, just being a poor boy, I would sell every Ed Brown I owned for whatever I could get for it. I would also tell Pete to sell his Ed Brown too. I can't stand cocky, arrogant, S.O.B.'s like that. They WILL NOT get my hard earned money for their guns. People like that disgust me more than anything. Keep up the good work.

I haven't owned a Les Baer since 2002 (TRS). But after watching this I'd consider one maybe. This is how someone should behave when in sales. Why would Mr. Brown have an attitude? They should have had someone else at the Brown booth representing vs Mr. Brown himself. Now everyone knows the head honcho of the company doesn't care about his customers.

Les Baer is one of the best there is. His guns are built tight to last, i have had a thunder ranch model since 2000 and proably have at least 15k rounds through it and its still tight and works every time.

@weaponseducation It seems that Les Baer actually cares about his customers and is very down to earth, especially after his comments to you. When you buy a custom gun or knife, you're also buying into the makers soul slightly. Les Baer seems like it's an investment that's right, other high end companies, maybe not so. Why did other High end 1911 makers even bother to show up if they didn't want to promote anything? It's a contradiction.

Les is right, as far as customs go his guns are without a doubt the best for the money. An SRP is around $2300, and he has several under $2000.
Nighthawk Custom makes awesome stuff as well and they are really nice guys and have great customer service. most of their top of the line guns are around or over $3000 though.
I have also heard that Bill Wilson is pretty unfriendly as well.

Anyone who want's to see how this guy's stuff shoot's, should go to a nra bull's eye match. At 50 yard's, the Les Baer Premier II is a surgical instrument worthy of the finest practitioners in that sport. It is a truly amazing piece of craftsmanship.

Dang 2100 is a bargain compared to a Wilson Tactical or an Ed Brown...Especially if the quality is on par. I can't believe they put 120-150 rounds in it to make sure it is perfect before they send it out.

once again.. the NRA has been infiltrated with gun control advocates. I watched a video of some chairperson who is in texas on the board of the NRA saying assault weapons should be banned. The NRA does not even endorse Ron Paul who is absolutly the most pro gun, 2nd ammendment supporting congressman/presidential hopefull in the history of this nation. When the NRA pulls its head out I will join. Lifetime membership when they endorse Ron Paul.
