It's very liberating to catch a glimpse of someone who not only decided not to paint pretty pictures, so to speak, but who realized the futility in trying. I love that she she did not seem to speak loudly. She let the photo and it's honoree take center stage. Amazing.
This appears to be the PBS [1972 documentary. If so the following notes from mininova apply:
"This half-hour documentary was made that same year [as Arbus's death, 1972]. It explores her work and ideas, often in her own words as spoken by a close friend. It includes reflections by some of the people who knew her best; daughter Doon, teacher Lisette Model, colleague Marvin Israel, and John Szarkowski, at that time the director of the photography department at the Museum of Modern Art."
