  • well considering these very specific conditions on this ONE course, i dont think its clear which one is better than another.

  • do those monero's come stock w a diff lock?

  • the SR model came with a factory locking diff

  • Alot of toyota pickups/4runners came with factor E-lockers.. Also some newer vehicles have factory lockers.

  • Yeap, it makes quite a diff. ;-)

  • it also affects the distance between the front and rear tires... the first one was shorter and the pajero was longer...

  • Like hell. The wheel base on the paj is 65mm longer than the bronco. Not gonna make any difference.

  • I don't thin so statesmanls the Montero definetly looks a lot longer than 65mm

  • thats because the bronco is so wide.

  • Yeah it will defiantly affect it, and you might want to think about weight difference. heavier truck in this case is going to have less trouble getting traction on that soupy slopin' mud. Nice video tho.

  • I agree good vid, but if the comparison was fair it would be two of the same vehicle one open one locked.

  • well we ALL know a locked diff is better!!! use your brain on that one.

  • Um show me where I said open was or wasnt better. Duh I know its better but comparing two diff vehicles is not a god comparison

  • so, what do you want him to do? pull the diff out right there and slap a posi in?

  • it is true that the weight, wheel track, wheel base, and truck all make a difference. hell, even the driver makes a huge difference. I just wanted to show a quick demo of comparing unlock vs. lock diffs. Good comments though.

  • Also unsprung/sprung weight, Tire width, Tire compound, Gear ratio, and much much more come into play when your talking about rock crawling or even mudding.. There is soo many different things that play a factor on traction. Not just a locker or no locker. Ive seen dudes crawl crazy rock faces in 2wd cause they were able to keep traction to the ground.

  • haha monty diff!

  • Actually, a more aggressive closeup camera angle of the rear diff would have showed more clearly the obvious advantage of a locking differential.

  • great illustration. many people don't understand
