@cclear44 That is totally bizarre! You inadvertently picked up a piece of radio history and immortalized it to a bunch of people who would have never heard it otherwise. Very cool.
This piece of haunting music takes us back to Children's Favourites for BBC Radio. The artistes are a surprise; the mists of time had caused the memory to think it must have been one of Burl Ives classics. Thanks 44 for making this available and there is an identical version of the same animation uploaded by BlahBlah and another lovely arrangement for flutes also. Just 1 minute 49 but it's infectious
this version of little red monkey is from Joy Nichols, Dick Bentley and Jimmy Edwards... WACK-O!! it was released in the UK on Parlophone shortly after the Frank Chacksfield version was released. Other versions have been mentioned from Ken Griffith (instrumental) , Rose Murphy, Rosemary Clooney, Roberto Inglez and the late great Mel Blanc
If indeed an early synthesizer was used on this recording it likely will be a Maestrovox/Clavioline-type instrument. According to Wikipedia a Clavioline was used for the original version of this song.
(The 1953 tune "Little Red Monkey" by Frank Chacksfield's Tunesmiths, featuring Jack Jordan on clavioline. This was the first record featuring an electronic instrument to feature on the UK pop chart (April 1953). )
She's such a slacker! Yeah... the T-shirt business kinda dropped off when I got all busy and went to college. Alas... now they're collectors' items, if you can find 'em!
hahaha i remember watching this years ago and loooooved it. yesterday i showed it to my 1 y/o daughter and she was highly amused and kept pointing at the screen and grinning.
OMG!!! Some one had this on their profile on neopets when I was little! Brings back so many good memories of when me and my sister learned all the words.... I sing them every time I see a monkey!
OMFG, SRSLY, THAT'S SO WHERE I HEARD THIS ALSO. And something possessed me and made me wanna search for it on youtube, AND HERE IT WAS. I loved this thing. It's so simple and cute.
This animation was my son's absolute 'best thing ever' when he was a baby (we have the song on a children's CD too), so I'm really glad it's still around 4 years later. :D
This gave me one of the worst earworms I've ever had back in the day. But I sitll love it and the video. :) Thank you for making & uploading!

A nostalgic classic for me and I love the simplicity of the animation, beats the complex stuff hands down.
