Everyone agreed at the beginning that the stimulas package should have been twice as big as it was to have a real impact. But Republicans complained and said that the economy would sort itself out and not a penny should be spent. Half of what was necessary went through and is being spent on Medical insurance, Unemployment benefits, keeping teachers, police, firemen etc in their jobs who without stimulas would have lost them.
