  • The upside down flat stall was rad!

  • You da man Bill!

  • fantastic!!

  • 1:30...nice recovery :))))))

  • Astonishing

  • damn, 1:30 was close...

  • where do i learn acro on my hang glider ? i've a k4+ and want to punish it . by the way was that a tail slide ? how come it didn't tumble?

  • Hi Bill, is it faster to use a hang glider or a paraglider to travel horizontally from one place to another place? Would I be correct to assume the hang glider is faster

  • yes, you are right. A hang glider produces less drag than a paraglider. It is easier to use a hang glider for long distance flights, because of the better "glide angle".

  • What a traffic hazard! You know none of the drivers on the highway below were watching the road. Great flying! I agree... that's as close to a tumble as you can come. Scary.

  • that would be so much fun to do

  • @acrazedmaniac, looks like at 1:35 he stalls, does a tail slide then an upside-down stall, before finally flipping over and narrowly avoiding a tumble.

  • tough glider. i wonder if he really meant to tail slide

  • I'm guessing you're not scared by rollercoasters?

  • ok, sure i am not alone when wanting to know what happened at 1.35 ...and what is the the blog thing? Could you please just let us know here..cause anyone who hangs, will want to know if they are watching this!...sheeeesh ...that looks scary! your heart hada jump/miss/stop....can up date your info or just keep it short....thanks! remember once that 'almost' happened to me, but i was flying a full race sensor, more nose angle...more bar authority...

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • at 1:32 in the video, thats crazy!!! izt just me or was that f!&€#%ing close to a tuck!?!?

  • Hi,

See my writeup at billheaner.blogspot for the details on what happened there.

    thanks,

    Bill

  • i noticed it too, it looks like he holds on in right corner pushing the bar forward...but it looks scary, must be hard not to fall down on the sail. The loop before 1:32 is also with less speed on top.

  • Wore you looping a sport 2? I dident know you could loop them

  • That is an Altair Predator 142.

  • I was reputed to have looped a 160 Cubman( intermediate glider weighing 55 lbs); it was as near as damn it a loop ( fully inverted but coming out of it not quite in the same direction as went into it)

  • @NevilleStyke I learnt on one of those - how the fuck do you whip stall enough speed for a decent wingover - let alone a loop !!

  • Whip stall to get into a dive, do a wingover, pull on dive coming out of the wingover gets more airspeed for another wingover, pull on dive coming out of second wingover gets even more airspeed, feed out the basebar gradually to pull up into loop( letting the basebar out too quickly dumps all the airspeed) and push out to go over the top. Get crick in neck from tipping head back to look for horizon coming into view!

  • That was way cooler than I fly. You inspire me!

  • awesome....the leaf hanger.....I was just amazed saying, "f**, oh f** look at that".....awesome.

  • I have a write-up on this video on my blog that will address your question about what happened at 1:35 in the video. It's at billheaner.blogspot

  • I have a predator 142 that I want to start looping. Hook in weight is 140-220lbs. I hook in at 202 lbs. Is it ok to be on the upper 3/4 of the range for aerobatics?

  • what happened at 1:35? how did you/he not go into a tumble!? Was that intentional?

  • I also wonder! I guess he just used all muscles he had in his arms ;-) And did he position his feet on the keel? Just guessing...

  • Great video!Awesome flying skills!

  • rad! smoke on the hang glider is so cool. where do you get a chance to see this live?

  • I just bought a small Predator to loop and was wondering where you have the VG set for looping.?

  • Absolutely. In my opinion, you should always use full VG when performing steep, inverted manuevers...way more total energy for going over the top. Good Luck!

    Thanks,

    Bill
