I was lucky enough to see him perform this one live twice; once at the World Pro and the other at a pro comp in San Jose the same year. 1996 I think. Beautiful!
Thank you for adding this beautiful video to Youtube. The artist singing is Franc D'Ambrosio who played "The Phantom" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's theatrical production of "The Phantom of the Opera" for 5 years. What a beautiful combination of Brian's artistry and Franc's voice. This is from Franc's second CD "Franc D'Ambrosio's Hollywood" Songs of the Silver Screen. A beautiful performance by Brian Boitano!
@jehouse Actually, the proper spelling for the song is "Maria". "Mariah" was only popularized by Mariah Carey, who was named after the song and has an altered version of the spelling. Go figure, eh?
Believe it or not, I did tape this on my VCR when it was broadcast. Unfortunately, all my tapes were stored in the cellar and literally thousands had to be destroyed because of the mold.
just bought the song off itunes! yeah!!!!

Anyone know who the artist is on Shenandoah?

I remember watching this when it occurred. I've never forgotten it. Still makes me cry just a little bit. But it's "Mariah", not Maria. ;-)

@sbe79 You're right! And the name of the musical is actually "Paint Your Wagon", not "Shenandoah". ;-)

Thank God for You Tube.

This was from the 1998 World Pro Championships. Brian would have been 35 years old during this performance. In my opinion his best pro routine.

When did he perform this piece? If it was in 2009, that's incredible. That would make him about 46 when he skated this!

@carolinemitsuko No, it was long ago...late 80's I think.
