@hupimao Yes it was Lantus, I guess it's gone up more in the last 10 months. See, my first Vet was only concerned with making money! Remember, he told me it expired in 28 days! Well it does not. You really don't need to buy this expensive brand, when others do the exact same thing! I took him off Insulin and he's on Chinese and Western Herbs and doing fine! When I did this video, I didn't realize I was yet a Victim of my Vet's greed. Take care!
Always make sure you inject his skin, not the thick part of him. Also, make sure the needle doesn't go thur them and the insulin come back out like I did many times in the beginning.
@kikiidoggie Thanks! Sad thing is that Vet I first took him to, only cared about money! He never smiled once or gave any sort of complement to Big Boy. I did go to him to save money, but I ended up paying more! Next week I will be able to take him to a much better Vet, the same one where he was neutered and operated on as a Kitten. I will ask her if I can film the visit, with out getting her or the Vet name in it. I never thought an Animal Vet could be greedy like a Human Doctor? I was wrong!
My cat lost one pound and the vet told me that losing weight goes with Diabetes. My Dad has it pretty bad. I would watch him close, I'm sure you will. Insulin is so expensive, but it might be necessary. Just watch him for walking problems, like his back feet pointing out, shaky walking, mood swings & crystalized urine. Prayers always help! I don't know what I'd do without my cats, they're just like my children. Its all new to me too! Wish you and the littleguy all the best!
I found out yesterday that my cat has Diabeties. He was walking like his back feet were broken. His blood sugar level was 500. He will recover. We love our pets and its nice to see you do too. Expect your cat to have "mood swings". It is the same with humans. I wish both of you well.
@snarlingrabiddog5150 Thank You! Big Boy has lost 13 pounds and I have stopped giving him Insulin! I can't really afford it anyway. But he is doing better than ever! I think my Vet just wants money!
You did a fantastic job on your first injection. My cat had diabetes too, and she fought me on the first few injections, but she soon realized it was going to happen no matter how much she fought me. I was determined. She went on to live a long and healthy life. Keep us informed about Big Boy. You both seem to have a connection going on there and he's trusts you, which is the most important thing...Cheers from CA!
@moomay11649 Thanks what I first thought Mooz! That's the whole reason I decided to make this video, see if I can do it, so can you! I even show him the syringe before each shot too. I'm not going to ambush him or hide it from him, soon he'll even look forward to the shot like a friend of mines did. Sorry to hear one of your Cats has AIDS, I lost my very first Cat that way, one day, there may be a cure for that as well. Give Lucy a Kiss for me! Rad
awe i am sorry and its actually very common in cats yes i have had too do this, they understand in their own way and he will be totally fine , wish you the very very best xxxxxxxxxxxxs Cathy
Big Boy looks so trusting and knows you're doing what's best for him Dale....in this old messed up world even the animals suffer...let's pray for a time when there won't be anymore sorrow, pain or crying....Happy Holidays.
Dale, you are so good to take care of Big Boy. I am diabetic, so I know how he feels. I take four shots a day. Give big boy a big hug and pat from me. Best of luck, I know you will do well. Big Boy is lucky to have you.
Big Boy is a beauty!.... We had a cat with diabetes too... but when he lost some weight he was fine.... I know its scary ..so good luck to both of you! You did a really good job! xox
How strange that within a week my Olly is diagnosed with Cystitis and needs a special diet for life and Big Boy is diagnosed with diabetes and needs daily injections.
Big Boy adores you, you adore him...he is so trusting..he looks at you with such love and you look back at him with the same love
Ooops, i meant to thumbs down your comment. Being inside the house has NOTHING to do with a cat devolping cystitis. The cause are "crystals" developing in the bladder and then blocking the urethra. I worked in a veterinarinans office for a number of years and saw "our share" of this disorder, and "throwing them outside" will NOT prevent it.
Poor Big Boy! It was so awesome when he stretched his paw to touch you - such complete trust and love!
My mom's cat Tigger was diagnosed with diabetes over a year ago and she's giving him shots, too. He's been doing great with them and the change in diet.
@IStandForIsrael wow! I had no idea you had to do this too? I just hope I can do as well as you are! I am honored that you have a video reponse to this! Hugs from Texas! Rad
Aww Rad, you did so well. What a shame when animals are ill. He hardly moved when you gave him his injection, you can see how much he loves and trusts you. You did a really good job and I'm sure eventually he will notice it even less.
I can see the mutual adoration, Dale. The way he looks at you with so much trust. Wunderbar.
But I must say that he lost an awfull lot of weight, really. But he was ever so brave when you gave him the shot. I just imagine me giving Tommy a shot. Hand me the garden gloves and the fencing helmet....
Good luck, Big Boy. You will be taken care of in the best way. Best wishes from Bea and the Fluffertons
Wow! No wonder he gained so much weight! Gosh, he's so lucky to have you in his life - and clearly, he knows you. Holy cow, that had to be scary to hear - and still scary to think about caring for him properly and scary to think about paying for it! What a hard thing for both of you - but I have every confidence that you'll do the est job ever! HUGS to both of you.
Wow, unbelievable how calm Big Boy is...
Mine would have screamed, hissed and scratched...
Maybe you should become a cat-whisperer ;-) (if you aren't already :D )

is that a Lantus insulin? Where did you get it? It costs me more than $100 and I can't find anywhere/internet cheaper...

Because you don't let Olly out the house - that's what causes Cystitis in cats. Throw them outside in the night.

we do this with bugsme everyday.
it is a job to do what you are doing.
my vet says Feline Diabetes can
go away.
as for our dogs, our poor bugsme is stuck with it for the rest of his life.
great video. *******
