  • he makes hollywood look good

  • 75/100 A C+. Make more sence the next time Nolan makes a movie (excluding Batman)

  • i like that he creates characters with average human intelligence. he doesnt get enough credit for that. most writers write such dumbed down and linear stories to sympathize with the general ignorant population, but he pushes some boundaries to make the viewer think of the story more. usually, u'd walk out of a hollywood movie dumber than u were going in, but that's not the case in nolan's movies.

  • he's so fucking cool and calm.

  • Chris Nolan understands himself and his own work better than anyone I've ever seen...

  • I don't know how things work in England...but shouldn't Christopher Nolan be like ''Sir'' Christopher Nolan by now? Are they even aware that they produced the greatest film maker of the new millenium?

  • @joshuaallman Insomnia is the only film of his I have not seen.

  • @TonyMaster007 - that's the first Nolan-film I saw, you should really see it, Al Pacino is great, he's getting more and more tired throughout the movie, because he just can't sleep, it's very fascinating to watch.. Memento is the only one I haven't seen yet..

  • @joshuaallman Insomnia suc... do you even hear yourself?

  • and they said digital was better

  • is the interviewer's voice only coming out of one speaker???

  • Guys my friend made a great project for our Language Arts class, and it is a trailer for a movie about christopher nolan. for a 13 year old with very little resources it is great! Go check him out SkullPirate360

  • Chris Nolan + Darren Aronofsky = The 2 best directors of the 21st century!!!

  • Can anybody name a bad Christopher Nolan movie? No? Thats because he hasn't made one

  • I'm only 15, but I know that when I grow up, I want to be like Christopher Nolan!!

I know it might seem impossible, but who knows... really...

  • @jesuislepluscool Christopher Nolan consistently proves, that nothing is impossible. You need to go for it.

  • holy shit a real head exploding thought came to me. 'Inception' is Nolan's 2nd completely original masterpiece after 'Following'. After being insanely impressed by 'Inception' I remembered that Nolan still has so many years left for his career. His next original masterpiece might come any time soon. My life is now incomplete again.

  • @SWIFTartz I would say you forgot "Memento."

  • @defpoet28 Memento is originally a story by Jonathon Nolan and adapted by Christopher Nolan...similarly with The Prestige, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight

  • @SWIFTartz This is correct. However, Chris had a hand in writing some of the scenes, for "Memento," with Jonathan, same with the other listed titles.

  • @SWIFTartz He is amazing.

  • @MajCinematic

I understand that, I was saying that perhaps sibego88, the guy who said chap, is British. But apparently he's Indonesian, so never mind.

  • The Social Network should not have won all those awards the movie didnt even look that good,Inception on the other hand dserved much more than it got.

  • "Leo's character...he's a bit of an onion..." - LIKE SHREK!

  • I can't believe David Fincher won the Best Director golden globe over Nolan. It's a travesty that can and must only be righted at the Academy Awards. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @MajCinematic

Maybe sibego is British, and the word "chap" is engrained in his normal speech.

  • Paprika!!!!!!!!!!! he didnt even mention it!!! its obviously his main influence if you think its the matrix watch paprika

  • If this man were to do an IQ test, his readings would go off the charts.

  • favorite director, by far

  • He is the Einstein of films THUMBS UP

  • every film geek's dream director

  • I hope he does a good horror movie sometime. That would be quite something!

I hear Inception was originally intended to be a horror movie, then he changed to to a heist. I wonder what the original idea would have looked like =)

But Inception is perfect as it is anyway.

  • Great filmmaker, he understands the true purpose of movies as an art.

  • Jamie Oliver. Anyone else see the resemblance?

  • @badcompanyization

lmao yer there is a resemblance there :]

  • @ExtremeBogom Yes! Someone else noticed! I thought I was crazy!

  • He said the original Star Wars films. You hear that, Lucas?!

  • @naderkhalfay Ahh, where DID he go astray? It's a shame, really.

  • @naderkhalfay The new ones lack in originality, I think. (Plus the acting, with the exception of Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor, is bad)

  • What does the questioner mean by saying we feel as if we "solved" something by the end of the movie. It's quite the opposite is it not. People are divided over what the ending was, or even what the movie altogether was about.

  • I wonder what´s going on in Nolan´s mind, while he´s dreaming... brrrrmm, brrmm, brrrmm, brrrmm

  • The man is so damn modest, if I were Nolan I'd just wear a crown everywhere I go.

  • He is an auteur to be sure. His movies are so intelligent yet spellbinding; you just can't look away. I ADORE him & his films.

  • @plastik85 At least give a real justification. Why was it ''super boring predictable bullshit.?'' Why was the Joker not scary?

This interview isn't even talking about The Dark Knight so why write that here? Just trolling? What's the point in that?

Shutter Island is directed by Martin Scorsese so please get your facts right.

Oh and learn some grammar and sentence structure skills. You sound like a twelve year old.

  • Comment removed

  • i dont want to sound dumb..but i dont know anything abt directors what they do really??

  • @chanelprincess16 They usually engage in the movie making process. Each director has their own taste and you could really tell when ur watching like a Tarantino film, like details and the shots of the angles. I dont know what producers really do either but in this case Christopher is pure genius

  • @chanelprincess16 Directors control everything everything from costumes and make up to camera angles and acting

  • @plastik85 OMG at least fact check before you post, Shutter Island was a Scorsese film...

  • @plastik85 Wow, just.. wow.

  • he is my the most favorite director! <3

  • I have no problem calling Inception a masterpiece and Christopher Nolan a genius when it comes to film making. His films never fail to blow me away.

  • i would have no reservations if nolan made a one hour segment of him just talking about the plot of the movie.

  • quiet video is quiet

  • Christopher Nolan just blew me away with inception i absolutely loved this film. this just shows how talented and thoughtful christopher Nolan actually is

  • i'm waiting for an interview where he explains everything to me

  • @totalgoofchick amen

  • one word. Genius

  • On the 8th day god created Christopher Nolan!

  • After watching this movie i wuz pretty pissed...The movie itself is absolutely amazing..stunning, great effects, everything...but that ending is a big cliff hanger...The truth about the ending is?? We will never know!!!...Unless the director tells us what realy happened...Which will not happen...& if he does in lightin us...It wont be for a while...This is givivg the movie a huge buzz...& the director is genius for this...But for the movie..It is a must see...Truly Amazing..A real mind fucker!

  • 4:20 = Mind blown

  • This movie was alot better than any 007 movies in my opinion(sorry I don't like 007 that much but that's just me it's okay to disagree with me just don't hate me just hate my opinion).

  • I can't hear anything :(

  • the main reason why Nolan/Inception is awesome is because he wrote the entire story & screenplay himself, and directed it, and produced it. he's a no-bullshit moviemaker

  • he should not make dark knight 3--sadly it wont work, it was set up the dark knight for the joker to return here no--also what we see now is chris can stick with original fresh ideas, he can cunjore up more thna a poxy dark inght film as good as they are it wont work and he should stick with films that are fresh and new like this master piece so watch my review

  • @Halleberryismine first of all, dark knight 3? really? im sure you mean batman 3. and second of all, it will work because david s goyer and nolan are geniuses, and the joker not being in the 3rd movie will be a good thing ultimately

  • Christopher Nolan is my favorite director next to James Cameron, those two do damage with their movies. If they made one together, it would be the greatest movie mankind has ever seen, with Nolans skill with camera tricks and Camerons skill with CG they'd be unstoppable!

  • wtf is up with the crappy audio?

  • Seems like a nice and humble chap which is quite rare in the movie industry. Quentin Tarantino, brilliant though his movies are, his personality leaves something to be desired about...

  • @sibego88 Tarantino's movies suck in comparison to this dude... none of Tarantino's stuff comes together like Nolan's movies do.. Tarantino has some random plots and so much stuff is there for no reason. In Nolan's movies, every detail is important and has a purpose.

  • @Bfffness

agreed. tarantino sometimes provide 'unnecessary' contents that do not serve as real purpose in the core plot of the movie. to compare tarantino and nolan with one word, tarantino is flamboyant and nolan is immersed.

  • @suush150 Well you are exactly spot on when you said Tarantino is flamboyant. You certainly get a feeling of "style over substance" with Tarantino's movies especially with Kill Bill imo. But still Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are really good movies imo.

Nolan's movies are good because it has good storylines whereas I enjoyed Tarantino's movies because they contains nice dialogues between characters. Well thats my opinion anyway.

  • @sibego88

I agree, i feel that Quentin Tarantino likes his writting too much. Everytime i watch his movies the dialogue seems much longer than the actual movie. Although, his movie's are quite nice.

  • @sibego88 I don't think that Tarantinos films would be as great as they are if he was a quiet and modest person. Regardless him and Nolan are two of the greatest at the moment.

  • @sibego88 yeh tarantino is a weird kinda guy but he is funny and obssessed with movies in a good way

  • @sibego88 chap?? CHAP??? Are you british??

  • @FruitFlavorFun No.. Im an Indonesian living in Australia...

  • @sibego88 I'll bet you $100 that he didn't see that answer coming.

  • @sibego88 As far as I am concerned, he could wear a crown on his head and he would still be humble (talking about Nolan here). JK, JK. However, I totally agree. He comes off as being very calm, with a sense of serious humor (yes, an oxymorone but he makes jokes out of things you don't expect him to).

  • To me Christopher Nolan is by far the best man in the movie industry. Writer and Director.

  • @SWIFTartz I think that he's the next Steven Speilberg. He's simply an AMAZING guy. A pure genius. I think that the idea for the movie was an Inception in it self. The beginning of a new idea and possibly the beginning of a new age in movies.

  • @09tranm I'm afraid your wrong my friend. I just saw Inception today. No surprise, inception IS the best movie ever made. This is the first movie ever which can never be replicated better with the ideas it has. The matrix was an action movie that was on a very deep and clever level. Inception just took it too far. There are a few great ideas which would be cool to be in future movies: The plot doesn't involve a mass problem it was just a business problem yet it had an epic scale.

  • @09tranm ...there was no villain. I just loved how it was subtle. yeah so it would be good to see another non typical movie BUT the visuals/ideas won't be beaten.

  • @SWIFTartz what about spielberg?

  • @chanelprincess16 yeah he's great and purely original but nothing beyond that ...but you gotta love those sophisticated mind blowing genius' like the Nolans. Alot of directors are just as talented as each other but genuinely Christopher Nolan deserves to be titled most intelligent director.

  • @SWIFTartz I fully agree with you on that. Though people that I consider tied for that spot (Director anyways) would be the Coen bros. Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, or Ridley Scott

  • @SWIFTartz Tool.

  • @SWIFTartz FUCKING AGREED!!!

  • @SWIFTartz He's like the new Hitchcock and Spielberg combined.

  • @SWIFTartz yea hes insanely good at both directing and writing
