  • Dude. That was a terrible ending! Act like you've been there before and let's do this thing one more time with a little feeling.

  • Way too fast

  • I like the articulation.

  • i think its a bit out of control, like if he brought it down a bit more it would be better.

  • Love it!

  • i need to play this at competition(the whole united states!) >_<

  • pretty good work on the mistakes and ill give it an ultimate!

  • very nice, but you didn't hit the key-i think it's a e- exactly at 00:40 but i also hit the wrong key very often at this passage :)

  • a quel tempo est il joué svp ?

je le joue en ce moment et je voudrais savoir quelle est la vitesse idéale pour ce beau morceau svp !

    merci

  • je cherche un pianiste qui pourrait jouer le morceau + lentement merci

  • omfg i have to play this for my exam Oo

  • Is it okay to use pedal throughout this piece?

  • @CliffX Depends what part you are referring to. The only part I would not use pedal at would be the sharp staccato section after the first lyrical section. Wherever you decide to use it, just make sure it doesn't "muddy" up the sound, or else everything will become swallowed up.

  • Tempo! Debussy is to be played at EXACT tempos, no liberties! Fix.

  • nice. at 1:40 , i think it should be slower. it sounds better!

  • in 1:11 i think there are notes that arent in the score....

  • It's hard to say anything, because quality is low.

I guess that it's too nervous

  • nice job. I'm working on this right now, and I have to sit down with the metronome for a half hour every day, just increasing the pace. Again, awsome job, flawless.

  • this song is good but there're not exprecion and te time is irregular, but it's good

  • must this piece play so fast ?? anyone can tell me the actual speed is required for exam ??

  • @elise030996 This is the actual speed, and it's actually played really well.

  • @ghost94057 ...hi, if this is the speed then it is really fast for me....I found difficult on the right hand part to move so fast. I am practising at a slow pace, hopefully it will speed up later

  • @elise030996 It sounds like you're doing it right. :) Good luck then, it's a really fun piece to play. :)

  • @elise030996 This piece should be played in about 2 minutes flat. Listen to William Kapell's recording.

  • @elise030996 I guess you've taken the exam now but the examiner will be more concerned with accuracy and musical annotations like dynamics than just pure speed.

  • dawno nie widziałem takiej amarotki :/

  • I was really impressed! I think it takes a lot of skill to play that quickly and keep your articulation! Great job :)

  • More pedal please!

  • this has really helped me in learning this piece. thanks!

  • I don`t know what sheet music you used, but I was a little confused about your speeds. at the second part, it says 1 Tempo. besides that stuff, you obviously have wonderful technique! :) Great job

  • on my music there are no metronome markings and it's open to the players interpretation at what speed the part should be played, but thats just my sheet music and opinion

  • yeah, good point.

  • With that piano , this is a good play . Good job

  • Oh come on. Virtuosomusican was only giving feedback and constructive criticism. She did it politely and with respect, unlike you, who totally just flamed her.

  • Oh, his name is Phillip. "Him," then, I apologize.

  • I am very impressed with your articulation in the beginning, that's really technically challenging.

I think that there could be more excitement though, so that it -isn't- just fast notes.

  • this is the most beautiful debussy peace after claire de lune... i love it. i'd love to play it actually but i don't know if it isn't too hard for me...

anyway 1:44 is my favourite part!!!

  • im learning how to play this. Now i have something to work up to =)

  • Right Notes, but no emotion. Debussy is meant to be played with soul.

  • I think you need to make more a musical line. In your interpretation, you are just saying "Look, I have fast fingers", but we lose all sense of directio.

You need to communicate something, like a painting. In fact, music from the impressionist era is meant to be like a painting, suggestive.

Stray from playing this like it were Mozart.

  • the only version on youtube that has really inspired me!

  • i like this very much..even if it's not completely faithful to the original version

  • see i approve of what you did in the 12 seconds because i dont get why the part has the left hand written for the middle 'E'

when you can clearly play it with your little finger - anyone know why, is it like for accent or something?

  • yeah it accentuates the "E". it gives it like a nice little touch, i just finished this piece

  • here's an advice, don't play it that fast. Debussy is an impressionist, so the environment you must create has to be smooth and suggestive, between pianissimo and mezzoforte. it happens with all the impressionist composers. hope to help u. =)

  • Actually the score is written at pretty much that speed, although he does rush here and there.

  • sorry, but jazz has nothing to do with Debussy, that has his origins on gospel and rag time

  • i liked it a lot..

    thank you

  • rhytm a bit jazzily maybe... but it's a good execution.

  • On some parts you lose the main melody altogether and it really just becomes a jumble of notes. =S

  • I quite agree.

  • I am currently learning this piece. I hope to get as good as you someday!

  • woo...i think u played it quite jazzily..

  • very accurate rhythmical playing

  • you need to learn how the pedal works in impressionistic music. The tones should blend more.

  • Wow! You definitely play "just notes" (my pet peeves)! I enjoyed your playing -your interpretation as I could tell is totally different from mine.

  • I think that the ending chords has to end more softly, sharp but softly.. and when you return to theme A again, try to make a little bit more of pause to contrast a little bit the end of the last theme (theme C i think).. just the way that i would play it. But i think it is the most descent recording here in youtube. (without counting Cortot´s).

  • Actually, the ending chords are marked fortissimo AND with the emphasis mark. So I think Debussy clearly wanted some loudness there....

  • Well done!
