The early 80's Tran-Am and Firebird were severely under-powered. I owned a 80 Firebird Esprit. The car was very sexy but had a 231 ci V6. I loved the car but it was heavy and performance was less then ideal climbing hills near Santa Cruz and when taking it to Lake Tahoe.
This pace car looks excellent and I can understand if a collector is looking for a rare car that is 30 years old.
Kinda cool? More like TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL! the best car to ditch class in....

My words exactly. Although I've seen some 301 Turbos which have subtle changes, such as a Paxton turbo, which gives these cars punch.
