This school district was found in VIOLATION of Daniel’s IEP in 2010 by OSPI. Furthermore, information obtained from OCR given by the district was falsely documented. The bus driver from this school district was rude to Daniel. His parents decided it would be best for Daniel be home school by stop having non-productive IEP meetings. The people who were directly working with Daniel on daily basis were never part of the IEP meetings. He is no long has to use the ill fitted school's walker!
Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapist should always consider the Core Values: Compassion Integrity. The 8 principles can be found under the description of this video.

@walkingdan My main issue with CE s that it focuses to much on physical ability. Our socitity on the whole places to much value on physical ability. What is more important is that people are happy and well adjusted. There are to many people with CP with depression and other mental health issue because society makes them feel worthless because of what they can't do. No person should be made to feel like they always have to improve there abilities.
@slicknick720 CE focuses a child in a holistic manner beyound physical. Daniel in CE >3yrs. I have helped other CP kids in CE. I believe my knowledge and experiences on CE far exceed your assumption. Kids w SEVERE CP are born without the ability to process information, due to their physical constrain, they are limited their real-life experience to learn. CE teacher lived w CP kids 24/7 as part of the CE training, they helped CP kids to eat/drink/bathe/dress/pottying/communate/oral motor...
@walkingdan also I've seen the videos of Daniel in his power chair. It's clear that way of mobility is working for him. That is another reason I don't understand the focus on walking. Walking just doesn't seem practical for Daniel
@slicknick720 I am not sure how much you know about CP. This school evaluated Daniel w IQ at infant level and was unable to teach Daniel, abc, 123, or any cognitive subject. Basically, they wanted Daniel to sit in a wheelchair all day long in a corner. This will caused contractures of all joints, that leads to pain and unnecessary surgeries that can be prevented. It was from walking at home, where we learned Daniel can interact w others along learning new words and relational concepts.
@slicknick720 Best way to understand why walking is practical for Daniel is; because, he CAN!!! Put your self in his position, sit in a wheelchair and tighten your seat belt at your hips and try not to move any of your limbs. Then time yourself to see how long before your bottom and your legs go numb! Mobility is very important, he must learn how to move safely at a slow speed before he moves on to the next level. Thank you very much for your inquiry.
@walkingdan Conductive ed is certainly part of the medical model. It looks at disabled people as lacking and needing to be fixed. It also focuses to much on physical develvopment and not enough on development of communication social and congtive skills It also forces kids do do things there not capable of or not ready for (ex, potty training) I know about IEP in current in school now working on my special ed teaching license I'm also an adult with cp so I know about disability issues
@slicknick720 You must have a mild degree of CP and think u know everything about disabilities. Or maybe u r an anti-conductive ed person. There are public schools in USA adapted MOVE curriculum which followed the concept of conductive ed. Just follow the links on my channel page. Have u actually been in CE and for how long? Perhaps, u had a bad experience w potty training. Do you have any medical degrees to claim CE is a medical model? I know lazy people think that, cuz its hard work!
watching this I can't help to think he would be better serve being taught to use a power chair and a communication device. The constant push for increase physical abilities can be harmful. The most important thing you can give a disabled person is acceptance. We not sick we are just different. The medical model must be abandoned
@slicknick720 I don't think you know much about Daniel. His parents already taught him to use a power chair. There is no constant push for increase physical abilities and it has not be harmful for him to walk at home. It might be harmful to you. You don't know Daniel and you might want to learn more what IEP is all about. Conductive Education is not a medical model. Please watch more of Daniel's videos and perhaps you can understand the issue.
This district PT changed Daniel's IEP objectives continuously, so that she can mask his lost of progress. By changing the IEP targets; investigators will not be able to keep track of Daniel life skills. She knew what she is doing; her motive was to make Daniel stays in his wheelchair during school hours without any transfers or repositioning. According in his 2010 IEP progress, Daniel averaged 6 consective steps per 45 minutes walking session. PT claimed "progress made." LOL.
This school PT kept this short green divider on the district provided GT from 2008 to Spring 2010. For 3 years, Daniel was not able to walk using the district's GT. We offered the district to use Daniel's GT from his home, the district refused because that way they cannot restrict his progress. That is why the district would not allow his mom access to the school bldg, their GT, videos n pictures.
@walkingdan What the school is doing is most horrible to your son Daniel making walk on a useless gait trainer, they had no shame in front of your camera. Their is a assistiveware system 3 disabled can use who are very disabled including can't move at all and can't speak This would help Daniel speak A ALS woman who can't speak look at (A pivotal role in the household)1 (One thumb to rule them all)2 (Everything I can't do in the real world I can do with my Mac)3 Look at these videos
@The391956 When the district gave me promission to video tape this, they didn't think anyone is going to take the time to watch it. Becuase Daniel have a severe level of coginative disabilities, he could only do functional activities (like a todder) and the district took advantage of him; cuz they think on one care about this kids w/ MR.
@The391956 THANK YOU SO MUCH for your responses. I have reseached the Assistware and discoved the iPad and iComm. I've been wanting and waiting for the next generation of iPad so that I could program a custom communication application for Daniel. iComm is very much what I had in mind. Thank you very much!
@walkingdan I think you can move without a problem but I am not 100% certain and I don't want to make your situation worse because of my mistake. Their are people who can help ACLU and ADAPT just go on youtube and write ACLU then ADAPT to see the 2 different videos. Berkley CA is the best area for disabled people and their are some other good states Maryland,Pennsilvania,Georgia they don't put disabled in nursing homes where disabled live alone. In your case California is the best
@larbacmc1 Bakersfield, CA adapted MOVE Curriculum in their public schools along with many other US states. The president of the MOVE international org contacted Daniel's school district when he was in 7th grade. The district refuse to help Daniel and said that program is considered "medical model", then made up a false label and classified Daniel as "medically fragile" when he was NOT!
@larbacmc1 School’s job is to teach life-skills to prepare a child to become an adult; his school IEP only asked for the opportunity to walk with other students; they has been unsuccessful since pre-school. Everything Daniel knows is taught at home by his family; these include communication, proper public behavior, eating, drinking, grooming, personal hygiene, functional excises. Sadly, they setup the school walker to confine his leg movements so that he can’t walk the way he is capable of.
@walkingdan Their is a woman who has a wheelchair Allison Wetherbee who paints with her mouth who has no legs no arms I thought you should see her. and some more I will send you being A ALS lady who uses a computer whos married living in france and SMA victim in same condition as Dan your son. This (assistiveware) would help Dan since many worse then dan can use this so Dan could use it for school and reading.
@The391956 Daniel is now being home school. He went to this school district from pre-school till 11th gr, still do not know any alphabets-numbers. He cannot distinguish or correlate the difference between numbers. He is unable to recognize any written characters-symbolic symbols.
@The391956 That is why I filed OSPI & OCR complaints against the school district. Unfortunately, the investigators only spoke to the districts administrators lied about everything and even falsely accused these video were taken without their permission. Sadly, after the investigation, no one knows how he spends his school day.

@PastryPanic0506 Thank you, Daniel will need it. I don't know if you watched it till the end of the video where Daniel had a skin sore from using the school's GT. Well, they did it again, the district refuse to let Daniel walk in his own walker & AFO ,even after they talked to his doctor. In April 2010, Daniel skin got peeled off in his ankle area and now they refuse to answer my questions. I think they are trying to hurt Daniel so he wouldn't walk.
@walkingdan oh my gosh thats horrible, sometimes districts can be horible, although i didnt have an experience that bad, my school did not let me go to the bathroom on my own for months unless my mom was at the school, i would sue though if i were you
@PastryPanic0506 Thank you for your concern. Trust me, I am taking a lot of actions against the school to protect Daniel. I can't review what they are at this point. At the same time, the district is teaming up to put him in harm way, so that I will pull him out of school again. The MDT put false informuation on his school records. Someday, other students in his school will do the right thing and stood up for him by asking questions.
Unfortunately, it is Daniel against the whole team of professionals (minimum of 12 people, and keep piling on every year). This PT do whatever/whenever she wants with Daniel and the district allows it!
You are right I did 2 years ago, upon return back to the school, he was promissed they would fix it, but PT had her opinions and the district supported her. Daniel loves to be away from home and wants to be on his own. He should have the right to public education. Someday, other students will become her PT when she gets old and disable. The question is, does she wants others to treate her the way she treate Daniel? Daniel comes into this world with a mission, this may be it.
Give him $20 and send him to the mall- He'll be cruising around like crazy! hee hee hee :)
I hope that you and Daniel can find ways to help more kids who are like him and not getting the proper care that they need. Kudos to you and your mission!
Thank you. unfortunately it is very difficult for him to practice walking at the mall. This is why he needs to learn his life-skills at school. It will take him a lifetime just to learn to be less dependent. As long as, I can keep him in school, I can fight for his rights. All his doctors wants to help him gains independently mobility, it just take a long time. Your voice will bring great values to those who are weak and vulnerable, like Daniel.
You are right, Daniel just wants a PT who appricate all the little things he can do and make an effort to help him and not stop him from making progress.

@walkingdan I was asuming that Daniel would be
in his own apartment at 18 which most kids do.
I mean normal kids and many disabled kids including
wheelchair ones, I only meant Daniel would make the
move to Burkley where their is a huge University after
his high school which must be over very soon if he
was in 10th in 2008 so he would be in 12 now.
But I was being very short sighted, I forgot Daniel
can't talk so he is better off staying at home with
you his parents. + ACLU and ADAPT.

This is awful, to try to make someone wheelchair bound
If it is possible, maybe you should move to a better town
It looks like you live in New York City. unless it was just
a prade you went to their.
When your son is a Adult of 18 he will need SSI, Medicaid
MediCal, In Home Support Services, Section 8 . The best
states are Calif and Mass for the disabled to live in their
own apartments. Most states belive in Nursing Homes or
group homes so you should think of Calif.
I wish Daniel best
