  • my friends cousin is in this band. an excellent band. i had several of thier lp's years ago.

  • omg this is so weird. The singer has such failed dance moves! :s

  • 0.00 is a fail

    0.00 to 0.01 xD

  • great tune...great memories

  • It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who keeps listening to these fellows. Best song of the 80s, bar none.

  • GREAT SONG TREVOR HORN.. BUGGLES STYLE.. BUT STIL GREAT SONG FROM 80S

  • This is another great track from the early eighties. Musically it resembles another group around at the time, Split enz who were also good!

  • Agree... From A to B = genius. Not a duff track on it!

  • this sounds like maroon five but with early 80s soud effects, too much midi, but greate

  • what is Matt Damon doin' at keyboard at 00:27 ?!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=5bb2SzKcBFI

  • i was searching for this song for ages as i used to sing it on my paper round 30 years ago,i thought it was the buggles!..life flies by but im back to those amazing ays for a couple of minutes listening to this..thanks for uploading

  • I found the album From A to B in a vintage record shop. Cost me a quid. Best quid I ever spent.

  • @redstarbug That album is absolutely fuckin brilliant

  • II have been wondering who played this for years. Even though I;m a metal fan, I have to say this is an awesome song, better than the continually recycled crap nowadays.

  • The link... please... for download this song.... Please, Please... Link - link

  • they were the best still play them and always will thanks

  • NO COVER VERSIONS. EVER. THAT'S RIGHT, EVER. This piece is brilliance and cannot be improved upon. Anyone wanting a cover version has completely lost the plot....de facto. Long live New Musik.

  • best band of the 80s good tune but i dont think so

  • increiblemete espectaculares...

  • Tony if you ever see this we miss your brilliant songwriting

  • great memories

  • How big should this song have been??!! Great stuff, great band, great albums.. Highly under-rated!!!! Great memories....sigh

  • Life is too short to forget this quirky one! Synth vocals Made This an unforgettable song!

I am happy to have the chance to bring this one to the musicians looking for Retro stuff to play!!! My son ( The Odessa Steps Sequence) bass player usually play Originals but, they have a post-punk New Wave kinda thing going on...this could be a great cover for them!!!

  • @SherryLewis62 would love to hear a cover version..!!

  • I do not understand why I get Dan Balan "Chica Bom" as recommendation when I searched this clip :-)

  • @MrDingon I don't understand why the third or fourth thing that comes up when I search for this clip on my Bluray player's YouTube app is What-What In The Butt!

  • Tú lo has dicho, que pocos apreciados fueron los estupendos New Musik

  • Just recorded this single to the PC to archive - really thick vinyl and great sound.

  • A time of much good music. Bit like the 60s and the 90s dance scene. Lucky us.

  • i have thought about this song once a year for about the last twenty but never heard it and it is great to hear it again spurred on by hearing Living By Numbers on Chris Evans yesterday 24/03/11. This was a better song and ahead of its time as others say. It is nice reading the other sentimental comments and know there's nothing with being so - live for now but cherish those memories and this had plenty.

  • I just can't believe it's been 30 years since I started listening to these guys...and they're still amazing.

  • Just beautiful

  • what happened to music like this?

  • in total agreement simon cowell take a hike beiber sod off

  • classic song.. this band were way ahead of there time. still sounds so fresh..

  • I was 18 when this classic was in the UK charts. Stumbled on it by chance a year ago. Brings back some fantastic memories!

  • cool clip

  • sounds wicked with Seba's FIRE LIKE THIS mixed in at tha start of my DnB set =O)))

  • Probably the first electronic based synth group to move away from all that moody dressed in black futuristic angle and paved the way for synths to be seen as primarily pop instruments and not simply to conjure images of an apocalyptic future. Even The Human League started having hits when they became more poppy.

  • This is so good love this music much better then the rubbish out today.

  • love this so catchy song of early 80 s they had only 2 hits i think great song this ; p

  • Amazing bring back good tomes no woman so no worries and everything went well So I went back for the minutes and it feel like heaven.

  • seen em play live when they did first album brilliant .

  • Too perfect! No one could cover this. You can't touch it!

  • the best band of the 80's ---with china crisis---

  • @pedrofaba Got to admit love this and Living by Numbers. I'm lucky enough to be seeing China Crisis live next month. Can't wait. Saw them live in 2009 at the 80's Rewind Festival in Henley nr London but it's just them this time....

  • @fyrret09 -enjoy the show,i saw them back in 86 in NYC at the becon theater and they were great, they open up the show with--african and white---one of my fav,i went crazy after that -lol-

  • a song b 4 its time , funny how with golbal warming , water is taking over the world , well maybe not in my time

  • a song b 4 its time , funny how with golbal warming , watewr is taking over the world , well maybe not in my time

  • fabby pop single

  • I love Tony Mansfield.

  • Only 1 bloke doing everything really, Tony Mansfield. Looks like a stand-in maths teacher LOL

  • Back in the eighties I heard this twice. It is very up there on my list, even though it sounds a little date technologically, I thought it was walk on water, that is why I never found it untill now.

  • Iam so speechless and taken in by this group and song. This song brings the emotions of my memories of 1980 to the surface. All I can say is, it makes me want to cry and smile at the same time. Its sad and spine tingling, makes me feel good, so very talented as expected from New musik. Its an all in one song.Period!!! Benja :-)

  • Nice, nice. Afther 30 years.

That was my holiday song of a 16 years old girl in the sailing boat.

    Wanda

  • I love this and all their other tracks. Amazing how such simplicity can move you so much!

  • Good Times Those 80's Bloody Good Musik!!

  • I love every single song by New Musik, and I still don't believe their songs are from the early 80s. Their songs sound so refreshing, they will sound that way for years to come.

  • Por fin! Hace años que busco esto, y que descojono, es igualito a la copia que tenia yo, de TVE2.

  • Absolutely cracking song, one of those that sticks in my memory from childhood. New Musik were definitely a British band. It's quite clearly :

    Singer/Guitarist : Comedian Steve Punt;

Keyboards : Peep Show's Robert Webb

Bass : Blur's Alex James (during his fat period)

Or maybe not. They were British though.

  • @tarquinfarquhar I've found the info you want; It is a british synthesizerband, as quoted from a chartfactbook from the netherlands. I don't know where @lucapuffo61 got his facts from, but he's wrong.

  • i heared this song on the radio

  • FAB....great dutch band that as the main part of the 80's band did dont reach the success they deserved.....

  • echt goed dit nummer!!

  • Great!! Thanks for this! I simply loved this music!

  • Yes What a great track. Funny how everyone says it's better than the crap today. I am confident you wont hear any of todays stuff and the last 10 years in a golden oldies radio show in the next 20 years. 70's and 80's what a great time to have been around...wish I was there now MM

  • @marshyman66 you an me both lad

  • another band years ahead of their time.. top song top band..

  • brings back a lot of memories!!....a truly underestimated band!...

  • Brilliant stuff, I used to listen to the album when stoned..Great post-apocalyptic stuff way ahead of it's time.....bring em back

  • This is a great eco-world disaster type of song, and there wasn't many around at the time, unless of course Hawkwind were banging on about it too at the time as usual!

  • Perfect!

  • only got to 31 in UK charts in 1980 I hoped it do better even if it got to the top 20.

  • Matt Damon on keyboards :D

  • @WreckedDixie ha, ha! Rather this than those terrible films he makes.

  • i never realised he was a brlliant singer b4 teaming up with orville!

  • New Musik must R-E-F-O-R-M !!!!

  • Cool video. That was the 80's for you. Besides seeing that muppet on the bass.

  • i love his song writing and simple beautiful melodies

  • So under-manufactured as an album yet, has become iconic in its simplicity. It's great..

  • all these who have missed the like button are need to be killed

  • @bloempot692 need 6 bullets

  • All of their 3 albums are great. Genius

  • ive loved this since i was 13,many yonks ago,,,,,,,,always thought BUGGLES did this song......

  • i wish i was 16 again, no mortgage, bills, no wife, no hard life, just pissing it up and spouting shit and enjoying ourselves!

  • Leuk liedje(l)

Maar die man is wel kk lelijk XD

  • I really do miss the 80s

  • Brill song I remember buying the album..rarely hear anything played by them on the radio... Stands the test of time!!

  • Lyrics are so Grt bring bk the 80's guys ur great xx

  • world of water, is it 70, 80 or 90 percent of the earth's surface? i forget.

  • @toutlemond 73

  • The singer (& writer, producer, keyboard and guitar player) is the phenomenally talented Tony Mansfield. The song made it to about 21 in the British singles chart & a further 3 singles from the album 'From A to B' also charted, including the big hit 'Living by Numbers'. Another song from the album, 'On Islands' was released in France & reached number 1. They were hugely underrated, much of it caused by Mansfields inhibitions. The second album 'Anywhere' is a cult classic & my fav. album ever.

  • @tadpole1492 - Anywhere is just purely fantastic. No other album takes me back to being in my teens like that one does. It has something magical.

  • @BlackmoonUK Agree totally! I would give anything or go anywhere (no pun intended) to see them play just one more gig, or indeed release a new studio album. New Musik are what I miss most about music today.

  • Comment removed

  • love this song many thanks uploader ive been looking for this song for years

  • i carnrt work it out WHY WASNT THIS BAND MASSIVE somthings wrong somwhere

  • @radiator0

Well Mike Mansfield - the singer and producer (I think) with this band did go on to be the next best thing apart from Trevor Horn during the 80s and produced all the best Aha classics, so without him I guess Aha wouldn't have sounded like they did. He did produce loads of other 80's classics that I can't think of here, but can you remember 'Vicious Pink - Ccccant you see'? That's another lost 80's classic!

  • Eerste keer in mijn leven dak die hoor . soft ma te doen . pbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbb

  • Funny that they're playing BC Rich guitars that became synonymous with thrash metal bands. Great track though.

  • Way ahead of there time, remember this was way back in 1979/80 there thinking and sound was so advanced for the time. Similar bands such as OMD, Ultravox etc came a bit later

  • New Ways lo descubrió. Un gran grupo y buena versión. 80s lo mejor !!!

  • Super, en van de beste plaaten, van de jaren 80" Geweldig!!!

    Ciao Peter

  • Ahead of it's time and vindicated by the science that followed. Well worth a re-release imho. 'Living by numbers' too if Brown the megalomaniac gets back in despite his earlier 'mistakes'!

  • utterly brilliant.

  • Loved New Muzik, this one, plus "Living by numbers"...

  • ah great memories i had there album a 2 b some brill songs where did my tteenage yrs go xx

  • never heared this befor many thanks for posting

  • Man THANKS for posting, new musik is so unknown sadly... great!

  • Either their bassist is the most bored performer in the history of popular music.. or he's got a Ron Mael schtick going... Love the track, tho'!

  • love this, thanks, it was out in the uk about 1980 along with geno and turning japanese, reminds me of listening to the top 40 on sunday nights, peace.

  • does anyone know the name of a song from around the same era its sung by a girl in a real high voice and the lyrics are .....run to the sun run to the sea theres nothing to do in this seaside town so lets all go where tourists go.... anyone know thanks

  • @SuperGeorge8888

Maybe you,re looking for this?(I,m pretty sure....)

Icicle Works - Love Is A Wonderful Colour

  • @SuperGeorge8888

    NO! Made a mistake!

Will try to help you though, and if I do find it you will be the first to know!

  • que tios mas wenos,,,

  • Great Tony Mansfield and the Synth Prophet 5 (SCI), the keyboard synth that Tony oriented to SynthPop, in a way that only a genius like Mansfield coul do.

  • me wuv this tune...i use it as in intro to a dnb mix i play out sometimes...ruff rugged an raw.....

  • F A N T A S T I C 80's the best and will NEVER be bettered by any crap out now

  • dude dont say bad things about these years there is also good music these times then gangsta rap and bulschit like royksopp thats just one hell of music from these times dont judge on the music u here on the radio and tv

  • @one2nd1 Amen brother!

  • @one2nd1 you got it right man!

  • @one2nd1

So True ....good on ya mate

  • Weird. this tune is up on radio these days all the time. I honestly thaught it was a new tune.

  • Top tune....not heard it for years.

Tony 'Bruiser' Mansfield - a very underated bloke, who should get a lot more credit, not just for his contribution to electronic pop, but his production skills also.

Check out the 1st 2 Captain Sensible lp's, which he produced, co-wrote, and played keyboards on - well recommended.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I thought I would never get to hear it again. It has really cheered me up. Thanks for your effort to share it here.

  • i have this on CD, i can rip the track for you if you want it.

  • Todos sus discos son muy buenos

  • Never thought I hear this great track again, fantastic, oldie!

  • I love this song! Seems like yesterday-but of course it's around 30 years ago-almost impossible to comprehend.

As for Thatcher -time is the greatest judge -compared to Major , Blair , Brown and the media creation -Obama-she is streets better. Don't agree with all her policies-but compared to the focus group obsessed nonentities we have on offer now -from all parties-she was a proper leader. Amazing achievement for a woman as well.

  • where in the name did all that come from just play the musik

  • The kings of Technopop, no contest

  • amyINRG - how right you are. Good to see that this country is not full of the whingers who blame everyone but themselves. As a great man once said - Get On your Bike : )

  • My favorite New Musk song.

The titles in Spanish on top of this copy of the original video, shows that it was used for ending one of the weekly broadcasts of the TV show "Popgrama". A TV pop music show in the channel 2 of TVE (Spain's public Television). On air from 1977 until 1981. Someone from Spain must have had a copy on VHS and upload it to youtube.

  • It's a legend. I vaguely remember this in 1979 or thereabouts if I'm correct and even back then I thought of it as a lively tune. I was 4 years old at the time. I felt a little bit scared of the video though, especially when the guys were appearing and staring through the sunglasses! LOL!!! But as a kid in those days I was entitled to be scared, wasn't I? Especially when I used to watch a lot of Doctor Who with my parents at the time.... Now U know what I mean!

  • still great song i love it

  • Too much good!

  • 1980 - great year - wouldn't it have been great to have music this good all through the decade - at the end of 1980 Spandau Ballet released their first record - it was downhill from here I'm afraid.

  • Great track!

    Numa.66.

  • you can drown but you still surviiiiveeee :D

  • 1:52 what's with the dude with the thick sunglasses' guitar neck, it all whierd....

  • I think I can claim to be one of the few to have seen New Musik play live (at Manchester Poly back in the good old days of 'pop'). As there was me, my brother, a friend and perhaps three others in the audience, my claim is pretty valid I think!!!

  • el maravilloso y desconocido tony mansfield

  • love this song.. should of been in a video game or something cool.. awesome..

  • not sure swimming for the other side is all its[ arse] cracked up to be !

    good tune tho .

  • Pop genius - Tony kick started the 80s.

  • Heard this for the first time on alex lesters show bbc2. but its bloody awesome, could be in the charts today. mark of adamn good song

  • How does that bass player manage such a work of virtuoso brilliance ?

  • I heard this track once when working at the bbc in London, then never again. I could not understand why as it was such a materpiece. I was beginning to think i imagined it but now i see i recall it well. Brilliant masterpiece.

  • first time in 25yrs i've heard this Gem,

    OUTSTANDING!!! Wanna go the shop

And buy it again!!! Mansfield was ahead

    Of his time.

  • Bought this when it came out.... brilliant song, wanted it to be no1!!! but it wasn't to be.

  • who ever loaded it...

bless you...one of my fav when i was a little boy.....good on you...keep it coming

  • Quite a bold image statement, considering that beards were illegal in the early 80's

  • Thats as ELO had the copyright , franchise and every concession on them. If you wanted to have a beard you had to pay them.

  • They were so funny looking! Great songs though..

  • I remember this when I was at hgh scool in the early 80s-a whole group of us used to check out the brit scene-New music's singles always sounded so fresh & edgy! It seemed like the UK was the only place on earth that was really happening. We were always dreaming of coming to England & meeting David Bowie...!

  • Listened to this band on CFNY in Toronto. Very catchy melodies. Too bad nobody can write songs like this anymore. I have their material on vinyl and now cd, but haven't seen this video in a very long time. Thanks for posting.

    Old New Musik lives!!!

  • Brilliant song, brilliant album, brilliant band.

  • Otro gran tema de los poco conocidos New Musik

Another great track from the little known New Musik

  • Thanks for posting this. I like it....and I'm not sure why! ;-)

  • Such an under-rated band and so influential on the music of the time. This song is class.

  • thanks for posting...its good to hear GOOD MUSIC again,.

im so old i remember when this debuted on Top Of the Pops..lols

  • Still one off my best albums I bought ever!

This song got my attention and the album From A to B is Fraking brilliant!!!

Tha only shitty number is When Death Fish dont Swim Home.

All other songs on this album are so good!

  • NOSTALGIA IS BETTER THAN ANY DRUG X X X X
