I was only5 yrs. & I beg my sisters to play this record among other Sandy P songs still love this this not How I imagined howvthe song looked in my head bac then now. Surprised no one has tried this song.great song. Todd P the music Indusrty
I can't imagine Sandy singing this brilliant, musically complex song, with its spellbinding lyrics, to that flopping beach goof without total embarrassment.
God, but what interesting singers had to go through, back in the 60s.
This was originally telecast in color (this black and white kinescope from the original videotape- like virtually all of "HULLABALOO"- is the only known existing copy), from the last show of the series.
I was 10 years old and already a Sandy Posey fan from Single Girl and What a Woman in Love Won't Do." I remember seeing this on what I thought was "Sunshine Malibu U, but I believe that's "Malibu U." Anyway, loved the song, and to think I could revisit this all theses many years hence. Childhood--when our own passions were the only thing that mattered! Refreshed!
This is a great song;powerful lyric and real emotion,I've enjoyed it for years. The video is assinine, and would fit better with "Ahab The Arab" Thanks for the song.
And I spelled her name wrong too, Erin Gray. Right, Buck Rogers , she was Wlima right? Looks like Malibu U was shot in north Malibu in Leo Carillo State Park. Lots of caves at that beach location. Baywatch did lots of "kid stuck in a cave as the tide rises" scenes there.
The guy in the clip is Bill Calloway, a Malibu U regular. Newcomer Erin Grey (Battlestar Gallatica, Silver Spoons) was also a dancer/skit person on this weekly show.
@justhyme When I found it, it was marked Where The Action Is. I see nothing in the video itself that suggests where it came from. How do you know it's from Malibu U? Do you remember it from the show or ??? I would like to correct the title if I can.
@John1948ElevenB Hi John. Just read your messages as well. I knew it was Malibu U because I have the complete show it's from. Glad you were able to confirm, though!
When she moved to Memphis, "she secured a job at a local Memphis studio". Except that wasn't just some local studio. It was owned and operated by Chips Moman. He and his band were a hit making machine. They racked up 120 top 40 hits around the world in something like four years. Suspicious Minds, Son Of A Preacher Man, Always On My Mind, The Letter, Hooked On A Feeling, Sweet Caroline, Angel Of The Morning, Hush, Cry Like A Baby. Their book just came out called Memphis Boys by Roben Jones.
this is from a teen show of the 60's called where the action is. the guy in the clip is billy joe royal of down in the boondocks fame. thank's for posting!
@ModGirl1966 oh! i read somewhere on you tube that it was billy jo, i'm not positive about that but i do know that this was from the teen weekly show called where the action is from the 60's whose theme song was sung by freddie boom boom cannon, and billy jo was supposed to be a regular.
@tuskedbeast I agree but it went with the goofiness that came with the British invasion. Like the Beatles movies and the Monkees' TV show. Good music but goofy performers.
What a sweet voice. I remember her songs just before I joined the navy in 1967. Sandy Posey and her husband Elvis Wade (Wade Cummins), are playing New Year's night (tonight, Dec. 31, 2009) at the Kennelworth Lodge in Sebring, Florida

@chinoishardcore I think they were trying to make it like the movies the Beatles made or like the Monkees. It was the rage at the time. Go figure.

@cowboybeeps I thought Erin Grey was from Buck Rogers, not Battlestar Galactica.

This is from the tv show MALIBU U in 1967. Not from "Where The Action Is".

@bornin51 Yeah, look at the closeups and you can see it's not BJR.
And don't you just love the funereal sounding organ when Sandy sings "oh no, please don't start crying"...

WEIRD! Anybody know what this was from? Seems like a disconnect from the mood of this song and this skit.
