i'm going to do this with my cousins. the smallest one can be the mule and i will make one of the small wips and play the music. WAGONS HO! gety yup, tom!
A silly heart....Ain't he great!!....Alway loved his guest appearance on the Andy Griffith show. When he played the "part time" deputy sheriff. Remember?......Whatdyathink?.....thanks for posting.
I was a intern for this show when Jerry made this skit. This actually only took him on take to do and the entire cast and crew could not stop laughing behind the set. Probably my fondest moment on that show.
About five or six ago was the first time I saw this part of the video. I LMFAO at that time. I was looking for it, never find it. I saw "Whip" by Devo today and it reminded me about this video. Thank you!!!
This is Jerry Van Dyke's most famous routine from his niteclub act that originally also included his Lone Ranger & Tonto and tells you the age of the bit. He's performed Mule Train for decades to the landmark Frankie Laine/Mitch Miller recording. Like the vaudeville routines that were performed hundreds of times by Abbott & Costello and Lewis & Martin and then recreated on film this shows how experience really can't be replaced.
I keep trying to go on and do something else but I cant help but play this clip over and over. And I STILL laugh every time! X-D I especially love the parts where he tells and joke and everyone starts laughing but the 3 boys, who just kinda stare at him LOL I'm gonna have this song stuck in head for the rest of the day. . . ^_^
LMAO 'it may sound inhumane but the donkey's weren't that excited about going west.' Just saw this on Yes Dear today (6/24/10) The song part is the best! Made my day.
Here is my question. And maybe somebody knows. I know Jerry did this skit a long time ago. But did Kaufman do Mighty Mouse first? Whoever did it first should be credited, because the other is kind of a copy.

Here is my question. And maybe somebody knows. I know Jerry did this skit a long time ago. But did Kaufman do Mighty Mouse first? Whoever did it first should be credited, because the other is kind of a copy.
Sonic8231 2 years ago
I did some research, and found out that Van Dyke was doing this in the 50s, way before Kaufman. So credit Jerry to some of Kaufman's genius.
