  • Man, how great Ann Miller still looked at 60.

  • Thanks for posting. This was a lot of fun to watch.

  • This is the gayest thing since gay was invented.

  • I like Carol Channing's shoes, kinda Lady Gaga-ish, hehe.

  • Wonderful! They don't make them like Merman, Channing, Miller and Reese any more. Great, great ladies of show business :)

  • the lulz boat follies

  • Wow.

  • @happylilsunbeam Thanks. I assume that was a good wow!

  • @dynamicduonyc Amazing, all those incredible historic performers on one stage. Gave me goosebumps.

  • My neighbor looks and sounds like Carol Channing!!!

The only problem : Max is a guy!!!

  • Della better work!!

  • Wow! What a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this wonderful clip of Broadway powerhouses! Amazing! It's hard to find these days on prime time TV!

  • That's the gayest bag of bullshit I've ever seen. I looooooooved it!!!

  • Wow, what can one say about these 4 Ladies?? Great STARS all of them!! Are we EVER going to see such GREAT TALENT again??

  • @TheOwlBerlin i doubt it.many now days cant song of dance sad the good ones are gone....

  • What can one say but "Fabulous"

  • Giving me a headache... surely they could have come up with some better material.

  • I wish the background music would shush so we can hear the dialog clips!

  • Now this is CAMP SPECTACULAR

  • This is when the 3 nets had watchable shows on SAT night..now just reruns of stufft no one watched M-F....

  • oh wow! what a thrill to see those 4 together.

  • Fun camp! In the show number all these gals really show why they are stars. How they can hold center-stage! It's a delight to see them together, especially now..

  • Ann Miller and Della Reese are by far the best....at least they can hit the notes :P Although i do love Carol Channing and Ethel Merman. All amazing ladies! :D

  • Yes, Ethel, you are the greatest star. :)

  • Why did you cut Cab Calloway and Van Johnson from the opening titles? :(

  • love an miller. best tap dancer around. :)

  • I watched this when it originally aired sometime in the 1980's. Loved it then, love it now and I'm not gay, but then the boys never believed anything my mother told them, anyway. Am I a gay moron or what?

  • I don't understand.

  • LOL Ann Miller's hair looks like something that can withstand a category 5 hurricane! ;)

  • That just put a big smile on my face. I love Carol Channing!!! She's such a sweetie!

  • i am not nor will i ever be gay and i love this.people today just dont know the true meaning of ENTERTAINMENT.

  • wtf? why prefix that with some silly statement about being gay. this is CAMP....and lots of gay people like camp stuff, just like lots of teenagers like romantic poetry. thass all :)

  • Very cool, a true classic scene. Thanks for taking the time to post.

  • This is the campiest, GAYEST thing EVER!!!!!

  • I don't understand.

  • Hey Della Reese is in this too! Mention her!

  • "HEY CAPTAIN STUBIN, HERE I AM!!!"

  • love della

  • Please more!!!!!

  • I am LOVING this so much

  • you would be happy to sing like Ethel when you're 76 yo, sure her voice aged, but the main belt was still there, and powerfull, and what's this about a person gaining weight ? so she's less talented because of it ??? and the song is from "funny girl" , a very good and entertaining showstopper, personaly I think it's a superb and campy number as it is brought here, what else could a showtune buff want ?

  • Right on!

The comments by some here are truly moronic.

I, and anyone else with an appreciation for greatness, agree with everything you said to hopefully straighten out that little punk.! LOL

  • Damn--I can't believe some people saved these episodes! LOL

    Thanks, dynamicduonyc :D

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so much diva!!!!

  • who is that Braud ?

  • Never did I think I would get to see this again! I had the thrill of watching it on our family's Magnavox console when it aired those many years ago. Thank you, dynamicduonyc, for putting this on YouTube; you are helping to keep that fabulous era alive--we so need this kind of panache and style today!

  • The only one missing was our dear Judy

  • Whats with the speed editing here? They let you have at least 10 minutes for free.

  • Wasn't Molly Shannon doing Anne Miller the SNL sketch "Leg Up"?

  • I used to love this show with all those legendery great ladies. Great! Thanks for uploading!

  • Man! You wanted star power back then? This was IT! Every woman in this clip is an icon. A TRUE icon, not one of these fly by night ones that no one remembers in 5 years.

  • INDEED!

  • I love this, but what was up with those dresses? lol

  • I know what you mean but that was the style in the 80's. Big shoulders, lots of glitter....and the older you were the more of everything they had!

  • LOVE BOAT was the greatest show in the history of television.

  • I didn't realize it back then, but now I'm beginning to understand that you're probably right.

  • This is a gem! Thanks for posting!

    Two Thumbs Up!

  • CLASH OF THE TITANS!! Yeah!

  • Incredible stars and each with such uniquely incredible talent, but Ann Miller has the most stage presence of them all in this number.

  • And this, boys and girls, is the definition of 'camp'.

    Love it!!!!

  • You said it! It's fabulous!

  • I loveeeeeeeedddd so much this episode!!!!!!!!!!!! Ethel Merman was fantastic!!!! Thanks for uploading.

  • That was Ann Miller who Molly Shannon parodied on SNL in the "Leg Up!" sketch, right?

  • R.I.P. Ann and Ethel...and rock on Della and Carol!

  • wasn't ethel merman a batman villan?

  • lololol...hahahahaha...lololololololol!

  • SENSATIONAL!!!!!

The old pros sure can teach this generation about PERFORMING!!!!

  • Ain't that the truth. I saw Carol Channing perform last yr w/the Pink Martinis at the Hollywood Bowl. She can still "Razzle Dazzle":+)

  • Carol Channing performed with Pink Martini? :D I didnt know that

  • RageManChoo, Check out the little box of videos to your right; you'll find a video that says Carol Channing sings at the Hollybowl. I just found it a few minutes ago here on You Tube:+)

  • Carol Channing gives a hilarious account of making this Love Boat episode in her memoires. The producers made Ethel wear rubber bands, presumably under her wig, to lift her baggy chin. This gave her a permanent smile.

  • I gotta say...aaron spelling was genius! getting those four broads together on one stage! on television no less! WOW! like a mini night of 100 stars! all that talent!

    all that HAM!!!lol LOVED IT!!!

  • Holy Cow...my screen wasn't big enough for all that star power.

  • I love them all! but,my heart belongs to Ann Miller.

  • why isnt all the series on DVD i so loved this show as a child in jolly old england

  • Ethel Merman's vibratto really got the best of her...

  • The only reason The Love Boat should have existed.

  • Della Reese was a star herself once much before the TV show

  • A Movie Dearest blog featured video. See my profile for the link and playlists!

  • Ethel and Carol are the best!!!

  • Della Reese she was on Touched By An Angel and was a big song and dance chick when she was young!

  • Wow the has to be the most awsome thing. That is a piece of history.

  • OMG..! OMG!!

This is truly absolutly a legend on tape!..Four dames of the stage performing in the Love Boat!

What a pleasure to watch Mrs. Merman, Mrs. Channing, Mrs. Miller....BRILLIANT! BRILLIANT!

    Thanks for posting it!

  • You forgot Ms. Reese! Just as good and BIG as the rest!

  • forgive my ignorance but who is Ms Reese?

  • hey captain stubing

    here i am

  • I love how, in the harmonies, you can only hear Ethal. ^_^ Gotta love that dame.

  • lol The gayest Love Boat ever, and that's really saying something!

  • loooooove it .....

  • At this stage in there lives, probably Ann Miller was the best at performing. However, all were pretty much past there stage at this point. In other words, they were all has-beens.

  • Considering the fact that these 'has-beens' as you have so graciously labeled them probably produced some of the best Broadway and Jazz music ever recorded or performed and are...apparently as I look at the views number...still in demand, I think that we should be grateful to be able to watch and learn how it's done.Or do you think La Spears will still be doin' it at 75?

  • "La Spears" ain't even doing it now. You only think she is.

A big difference between "Has Been" and "Never Was"

  • "La Spears" ain't even doing it now. You only think she is.

A big difference between "Has Been" and "Never Was"

  • Della Reese was the most talented on this show. She can really sing.

  • I saw her perform live once, i just remembered.

  • soo good i mean 4 legends on my favorite song!!

BUT Carol Channing steals the show.

  • Loved this show. Thought Gopher was the cutest thing.

  • Who are all these old chicks?

  • Ann Miller, Ethel Merman, Carol Channing and Della Reese.

Honestly, if you have to ask, you shouldn't be watching this.

  • That's OK. I love old chicks.

  • you are such an asshole.

all the more reason that one should watch.

  • Um, how can one not know who Ethel Merman is? For that matter, they are all listed in the title of the clip and in the info about it. So there was really no reason to ask.

  • Sweet jumped up Jesus on a Vespa.

  • SOOOO GAY and I love it!! I mean - the 4 legendary divas singing a Streisand song. Does it get ANY better than that?!?!

  • true darling, but la streisand sings much better fcourse. but these chicks r so funny , aren't they

  • NOW THAT WAS TALENT GOD BLESS THEM ALL

  • Freak Show??? Get a life with perspective. I give LOVE BOAT kudos for recording some of the great talents all together. Imagine paying for a ticket to see these legends together and live - if we could: God rest the departed.

  • They shoot horses, don't they?

  • Freak show! I love finding clips where people you never expected end up together. There's this movie from the 60's with a scene where Ronald Reagan, John Cassavetes, Angie Dickinson, and Norman Fell (Mr. Roper) are in a car together. Brilliant.

  • FANTABULOUS!!!! LOVED WATCHING THIS. Cannot imagine how much they spent getting these four to perform. What a treat.

  • It should have been pearl bailey, not della reese.

  • I think Pearl was gone already when this was filmed

  • Ethel Merman is the only one who gets the tune I think. =')

  • ... stop thinking, it's not working. They are all fabulous!

  • This is a gay mans fantasy. The only one missing is Judy! Hilarious.

  • I never ever saw the love boat before until this clip but i luv it i don't known much about Ann miller, carol channing and ethel merman but Della is my fav entertainer this clip is good and so is her song the other performers also do great

  • Wooooooooow!

  • Wow. Ann Miller's legs are STILL to die for!

  • Hey,

Thaks for putting this up. Is it just me or is della's lip sync totally out.

    Love it.

    Brett :-)

    xo

  • haha i work with lauren tewes. we work in a grocery store. shes in charge or gourmet cheese and wine.

  • Oh how I miss that Love Boat

  • The fourth performer is the great Della Reese.

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please view my clip of some rare 1940's movie star cards, including Ann Miller , Humphrey Bogart, Judy Garland, Ingrid Bergman, Frank Sinatra, Gregory Peck, Errol Flynn,

Ronald Regan, Lauren Bacall, Bing Crosby and many more.

  • Where else will you see 4 of the greatest stars together!! classic

  • Merman's last film appearance was in the movie Airplane. She had a Cameo as Sgt. Merman or something like that.

  • She played a pilot who crashed a plane and believes he's Ethel Merman.

  • good god, channing is a nut!

  • OMG! If I ever need inspiration to be a drag queen, I'll look up this video again.

  • What an interesting piece! Channing's wig kills me!

  • I am speechless...and I bow in honor of those unbelievable performances. Thank you fo posting!

  • This wasn't Merman's last film performace by a LONG shot LOL, she got much worse:-) god i love that woman!
