That is not true Adios as to the origin of the band's name. I co-produced the bands first concert at the Black Box Theater on the campus of Marymount Manhattan College. The name was derived from a brainstorming session by Dan Hansell who was the lighting designer for the concert. His idea was that Steven's sound and experience was rough like burlap, as he had only played on the street solo for coins. This concert was the first step in turning his rough burlap look and sound into something smoot
@bigcoolviking - Steven Delopoulos of Burlap to Cashmere continued to pursue music after the band went their separate ways - one member had gone to college, another was getting married, another "went solo". He has two beautiful albums - Me Died Blue and Straighjacket - which should both be on iTunes. Virtually no marketing on this stuff, but it's among my absolute favorites.
Funny how I went to HS with some of the guys from Burlap. The band that eventually became BTC was originally called FLOOD and they were amazing. Awesome funk band from Brooklyn who eventually broke up which was a shame b/c they were so much better than the music BTC produced.
Thanks Jan81, Ok I get it now, I have never heard of the fabric 'burlap' before, so in a sense it's a bit like cotton to silk,or rags to riches... We learn something every day ;-)
I have never heard this one its great after the 3rd time or so...... yet I know all the burlap to cashmere songs and love them, can anyone tell me what the bands name actually means or refers too please?... God bless you all!
I guess it's a metaphore... burlap is a very simple, rough and cheap fabric while cashmere is a way more luxurious, soft and expensive fabric... in a way they could have called themselves "Change" ;)

Jordan is a wonderful supportive musician - her guitar work with Katie is fabulous and her accordion here is just as sensitive and lovely!
