the lightning I race has a curb weight of 5450lbs and my 2001 chevy 3500 dually with a 8.1 has a curb weight of 11400lbs. Both trucks are stock and mine is limited at 100 mph. I always beat the lightning from a standing start to 100 mph by at least 1 truck length.

@shootemup1991 GM was the one that pulled the plug on your precious 8.1 after 3 years lol as far as gears gm only puts 3:73s in there 3/4tons to improve gas mileage and the lightning has 3.55s wow thats a big difference. pulls better then a diesel ??? thats a first and pretty fast ??? a 5.3 with a few mods would waste the 8.1 anyday the only reason you would want the 8.1 is if you had a weird desire to go to every gas station.

The only thing that gms 8.1 has going for it is displacement other then that the motor doesnt put out an amazing amount of hp for its size thats why the life of this motor was short lived gm pulled the plug pretty fast .

yes the syclone and gmc Typhoon's were truck versions of the turbo regal, grand nats and turbo firebirds and with the right work would spank anything on the street with out problem just like the GN's but a little more weight... just figured to spit that out since I was reading alot of comments about the syc's and typh's

@lightningvolt127 The Sy and Tys were built by a company called PAS. Syclones were technically only built for one year. a few were made in 92. but they cancled production. Typhoons were 92/93 I believe. Im kinda glad that production stopped, it makes mine worth alot more in the near future! Same with the Lightning.. I had one of the first SVT vehicles, wasnt called svt yet, but its where it I believe originated. 84 EXP TURBO, extremely rare car now! koni suspension from the factory!!

@lightningvolt127 i heard they discontinued because they were quite dangerous. they rated 280hp but in reality had more like 320 plus light weight and awd they tended to go where they wanted when you would boost launch or mash it at low speeds. i might buy one eventually but it would probably be cheaper and easier to drop a v8 in a sonoma instead and build from there.

the lightning I race has a curb weight of 5450lbs and my 2001 chevy 3500 dually with a 8.1 has a curb weight of 11400lbs. Both trucks are stock and mine is limited at 100 mph. I always beat the lightning from a standing start to 100 mph by at least 1 truck length.
