@DFAvids Actually, this is a very poor example of bunkai. This is extremely basic. Kihon and advanced bunkai is not done in the kiten of the kata. But as omote (opposite each other).

@NewEnglandBudo Also keep in mind Takenori Imura happens to be one of the greatest karate-ka of our time, he is also one of the leaders of shotokan karate do today, and is someone I look up to, so don't give me that (very poor/extremely basic)Shiz!

Kiten is pattern of the kata and is a basic level used by low level practitioners. Omote is doing the bunkai opposite each other and gyaku-waza is reversing the bunkai application when one applies the technique to you.

Ok the next time someone in a modern city attacks me with a bo, with enough practice doing Jitte I will know what to do.
I'm a fan of JKA Shotokan but I think this kata is lame. It's off my kata-to-learn list.
