Great video. I graduated in 1968 from SJB and have many great memories of both the church and the school. I moved to Texas in the late 70"s and although I didn't get back "home" all that often, I always visited the church. It's sad to know it is no more.
Thanks to David Yonki for giving all of us something to remember ....
my grandmother was a parishioner of the church and cleaned the school for many years i remember going to st johns when i was little im sure if i showed her she could tell me storys about all the pastor and she probably would kno some peoplle in the pictures great song choice.
I am not a Catholic, but I have the greatest respect for the people of the Pittston area who are. Some were good friends of mine and fine people. I am very sad to see this fine church gone. Such beauty and craftsmanship is a tribute to the talents God gave men and an inspiration to the faithful and visitors alike.
I am sorry for all those who have loved this church and for all those who had their church or school closed and for those for whom it is only a matter of time. I keep my personal faith but have no faith in the bishops. Our priest told us that what is good is never gone and is still there existing on some level with God. That I do believe.
Beautiful video. I attended Saint John the baptist school from 1968-72,leaving only because we moved. I was not catholic, but, everyone was so good to me. Thank you for sharing the video. It saddens me that Saint John's closed.
i went to school there from 1999 to 2003. my parents took me out when they heard the school was closing. i remember SJB being the first school that led to the domino effect of all the other ones closing. right? good memories there. made some good friends...and the funny thing is, i'm seeing a lot of them again now after 5 yrs
I went to this school from 1951 to 1959 and have fond memories of it and the church. The people of the parish worked very hard to make it a wonderful place to learn and worship. I went on to very academically esteemed Institutions for graduate studies, but have never found more dedicated teachers than the nuns at St. John the Baptist Elementary School. Rosemary Dziak
My grandparents George and Mary Zalepa, father Zavid zalepa and his siblings all belonged to this church. I have been to weddings and funerals here. It's sad to hear they are closing the church. All the memories we have will keep it alive in our hearts.

I hate to correct you, but 'John Bendick' is spelled Bendik. He is my pastor up at St. Mary's on Carroll St. He goes there sometimes.
