Maru could very well be a pure bred Scottish fold.

There will always be straight eared kittens in every litter. In fact you must always breed from one fold and one straight. If you let two folds mate they will pass on a lethal gene to their offspring.

So, Scottish folds can either have folded ears or straight ears, but they're both Scottish fold.:-)

But I don't care what breed he is, he is absolutely gorgeous and the funniest cat I've ever seen!

@victoriaaaa I have noted before, as well, that I think it's wonderful that Maru's pet humans don't try to make Maru do anything, They might wiggle a toy at him, or encourage him into a box or onto a shelf, but they don't call Maru over, add music, narrate, or anything else. They let Maru just be Maru. Also, because of this, Maru I think has become almost a proxy cat for those of us that can't have one of our own. They are truly a blessing to us by sharing a treasure like Maru!
