They're twin brothers who were separated at birth at the orders of their father the king of France so they didn't fight over each other for the throne. @Kovu427 Sorry, I know you asked this a while ago, but basically what he's saying is that Mercutio didn't deserve to die. When he starts saying "Either thou or I or both must go with him", he's saying that one or both of them are going to die as well to "go with" Mercutio. So Tybalt would either have to kill Romeo, or Romeo would have to kill Tybalt, or they would both have to kill each other. Romeo kills Tybalt, though.

Romeo says "Mercutio's soul is but a little way above our heads. Staying for thine to keep him company."

In this scene, Tybalt has just killed Romeo's friend Mercutio, so what Romeo means is that Mercutio's soul is waiting for Tybalt to die and keep him company on the way to heaven.

Then Tybalt says, "Thou wretched boy shalt with him hence." which means, I'm not going to die, you're going to die. You are the one who will go with Mercutio.
