dude this song is sweet i haven't heard it before man i love reggae it kinda sucks tho cause im like the only one with my friend that likes reggae where i live everyone likes hip hop. just think how much better he world would be if we played reggae in the clubs and everywhere instead of that dirty rap the world we be a much better place.

@Nikoz7Makaveli: If you consider "African Herbsman" as rocksteady album, in that case this one also rocksteady. Although officially the rocksteady era was around 67-69. For example "Hypocrites" is good example of typical rocksteady.
@Nikoz7Makaveli: maybe somekind of proto-reggae but definitely not rocksteady. Some call it "early reggae", although the same term is used for fast tempoed skinhead instrumentals.
@Nikoz7Makaveli: "Rolling Stone" is definitely. I'm not Bob Marley specialist but I do know that rocksteady was shorter era than ska era, so that may cause the fact that the wailers didn't do many tunes.
WITHOUT a gun he was more MILITANT then ANY army because he was blessed by Jah to do Jahs work.. Jah Bless !
He went to the 4 corners of this earth.. Brethren Marley was Genius & Humble and had Overstanding !! Passed back in 1981 and just like he said " My music will go on foreva "
May Jah Bless Marley for his courageous, positive, powerful, hopeful, Inity, inspirational, brilliant & beautiful music !! Viva Robert Nesta Marley 4Iver !!

The WHOLE ALBUM is Reggae, Nikoz.
ALL of it, including "African Herbsman".

Why didn't they just leave this one alone?
Actually, I digress -- the remix was great.
But why didn't they just give us the original one
alongside the remix on "Songs Of Freedom"?
Which compilation could this one be found on,
Moga?

maybe you should learn how to crawl...from under that rock.
By the way, how's your sister?

I think this is more rocksteady than reggae, can somebody confirm this?
Nikoz7Makaveli 1 year ago
@Nikoz7Makaveli: that is quite true. Although this is from circa 71'-72' and Reggae was invented around 67-69.

well, the album African Herbsman was recorded from 1970-1971. Can you tell me one song from that album which isn't a Rocksteady song?

Okee thnx for the info, can u tell me some more Rocksteady songs of Bob next to "Hypocrites"?

Kemumbia,
The Wailers did a PLETHORA of Rocksteady tunes,
most of which were for their own label, Wail N' Soul' M,
and also for JAD Records, the label co-founded by Johnny Nash.
Their library of music is EXTENSIVE -- almost endless!
Dig a little deeper. Check it out!

NIKOZ: "Okee now what kinda album do you think "African Herbsman" is?
Reggae?"
You're joking, right? The WHOLE THING is Reggae, indeed.
And to Kemumbia, all of the elements of Reggae from 1968 to 1973
are what is known as "early Reggae". A lot of what we know as
Skinhead Reggae was also referred to as "bouncy Reggae" or
"the bouncy sound".
