Ali had substantial damage done to him in this fight. It's not a myth that 3 hours after this fight ended, Ali was pissing blood in a hospital bed while Chuvalo was photographed club-hopping/dancing. Chuvalo, in 67', met a SMOKIN' Joe Frazier & lasted 4 ROUNDS, getting TKO'd w/ blood all over his face. So why did a "prime" Ali end up in the hospital & Joe ended-up beating George in2 a bloody pulp? Hmmm...
@3244gorilla Ali went to the hospital for bleeding kidneys. The reason for that, was because he took all those body shots like a champ and did what was necessary to win. Fullstop.
Compare how Chuvalo did against Smokin' Joe Frazier ONE YEAR AFTER this bout. Chuvalo was a bloody, fucking mess after 4 - TKO'd for only time in his career. Frazier would've kicked Ali's in 67', too!!!
@stat2k I know what you're saying, but Liston's reach was the same as vitali's, and Vitali doesn't have great stamina. Since Vitali boxes in a 12 round era, Ali 15, Ali would have more muscle than he did if he was in a 12 round era.
@NyyGyro Klitschko easily handled David Haye, and that was the weaker of those two.
Now I understand that Haye is shit to Ali, but Terrell is also shit compared to Vitali Klitschko who is an all-time-great.
So it's YOUR theory that goes through the window. Don't be butthurt. I'm a Muhammad Ali fan just like you. But realistically, a tall guy who has good defense and who can box, is dangerous to anybody. Lennox Lewis found out that he's not the only one.
@stat2k Nope, yours goes through the window because you were the one blindly saying size difference would make Ali lose(which pretty much says you don't know much about boxing). Ali would make Klitschko look much like he did Terrell, like an amateur. And everyone knows you're not an Ali fan here. Good day.
@NyyGyro Obviously I don't know as much about boxing as you do. Bring up some opponent from 50 years ago and sell it as your no. 1 argument - How do I get that knowledgable?
Klitschko's jab is much better than Terrells. He fights tall. He's a leaner like Ali - he rolls back from your punch and pops the right hand. Ali would have to be on his bike to win that fight.
Ony 1960ies can win that fight. But 1970ies Ali at 212 pounds? And with no bike? Please be more realistic.
@stat2k You're going to have to come up with something better than that to even give Klitschko a chance to beat Ali. You assumed size would be the difference, which like I said goes right through the window.
@vladiator100 I still assume. Mike Tyson said that it's hard to get inside on a good tall fighter. Ali was no inside ace, he fought from the outside. There's a reach issue right away.
But 1960ies Ali has a chance. He had tremendous legs and aimed at his opponents from angles. He's better than all Klitschko's opponents including Lennox Lewis.
1970ies Ali is a different story. What if he never fought Ken Norton? Who would you pick to win? Probably Ali, but Kenny gave him hell 3x.
@stat2k Ali handled Liston who had longer reach than him AND Klitschko, now you are trying to switch it up with reach by putting your sorry excuses and assumptions. Ali had an 80 inch reach, Klitschko has an almost identical of 81, Liston had an insane 84. Give it up, you are a Klitschko lover and Ali hater. Ali would most likely whoop both klitschkos at the same time.
@vladiator100 Again I have to explain to you that I'm not talking about THE KLITSCHKOS, I'm talking about VITALI KLITSCHKO. The man who was beating Lennox Lewis to the punch, who never was decisioned, KO'd or even dropped.
You're right about reach, but what about height? It's hard to land a shot on Vitali's head. And Ali certainly won't hurt him with body punches because Ali never went to the body.
I think prime Ali (around 1966) beats him ... 1970ies Ali gets lots of problems.
@UT5000 The speed and stamina of 1970ies Ali is not even close to the speed and stamina of 1966 Ali - do you deny that? I wish there would've never been the 3-year-layoff. But at least Ali took that punishment in order to make an important statement.
@UT5000 I don't know where you're heading with this - "credit", "golden age" ... can't you see that those are only words? It doesn't have anything to do with the reality that takes place in the ring. Vitali is not responsible for the opponents he fights. He's a dangerous heavyweight - and given the size different, I suggest to you that he'd be a horror match-up for Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Frazier.
@stat2kI personally think Frazier would beat him because of his weaving and power, klitscko is like lewis and everyone says they are way to mechanical not fast and mobile, and golden age is a tilte and george chuvalo feels teh same way, i saw him say it at an interview, and yes Ali doesn't ahve teh evasive speed, however his hand speed was at about 75-80 percent but that just shows how gud Ali is, and his stamina in my opinion is also almost as high because of his fight in manila and w/ shavers.
@allthingsarelikethis Vitali Klitschko is in the all-time top 10... In my opinion, when we talk about Vitali, then we have to talk about him along Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.
He didn't have a big impact on boxing like them, but he is that good. Lennox Lewis retired because of HIM.
Vitali has never been dropped - even Ali has been dropped.
His brother Wladimir on the other side is more vulnerable. Lennox would've never retired because of him.
@stat2k To me he is not exciting enough of a fighter to be top ten, he is dominate but he has a very small pool of talent to fight at this weight, we also almost must consider him a 'super heavyweight' as he is huge and would give anybody in history issues due to his size.
I just cannot get on board with the top ten status with his level of opposition and his seemingly boring style, now maybe if he would fight his brother who is the only other name in the division it could put him in.
@stat2k Lennox beat him so I don't know why you think that he retired simply because of Vitali, it was a close fight but Lennox was getting old and probably retired due to the fact that he felt old after and during this fight. It is not like Vitali ran him out of the ring or knocked him out, just saying I am not sure I agree with your views on this fight.
@stat2k All I am saying is that 38 is old in boxing and Vitali was much younger, after the fight Lennox felt old and did not want to continue to fight and no matter what excuses you want to give Vitali he lost to a 38 year old fighter who would in my opinion ripped Vitali up in his prime, Lennox MIGHT be a 10 heavyweights of all time, he fought better opposition than Vitali and beat Vitali himself and he might not even be a top ten heavyweight of all time.
@allthingsarelikethis I think both Lennox and Vitali are top 10s. The others beeing Louis, Liston, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield.
The HW divison has evolved, the athletes got bigger and faster, that's why I won't include guys like Dempsey and Marciano. Jack Johnson might be there, but his time is so long ago.
Vitali is certainly ahead of guys like Floyd Patterson, Ken Norton, Tim Witherspoon and Riddick Bowe. If he's not in the top10, he's very close.
@stat2k I think you can make that argument, I do have Dempsey and Patterson in my top ten although I don't know how well they would match up with some of these big boys, Bowe I would have higher than Vitali and Norton had he not ducked Lewis I would rate Norton in my top ten had he been more competitive with Foreman. My top ten. 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Foreman 4. Dempsey 5. Marciano 6. Holyfield 7. Tyson 8. Paterson 9. Holmes 10. Lewis
@allthingsarelikethis I think Patterson is underrated, but I don't see how he's ahead of Holmes... Holmes would've beaten everybody Patterson fought except from Ali and Liston maybe... but Chuvalo, Machen, Bonavena, Ellis, Cooper, Quarry would've been no issue for Holmes.
Ali said that Floyd was the most talented he fought, I would've liked to see him against Norton and Frazier.
@stat2k Yeah Holmes would have beat Patterson in a match, my list is skewed by my own joy of watching them fight or in the case of Dempsey the stories of his fights and his ability to hit hard with both hands has always made me think highly of him, my list does not take into account if they could beat the fighters ranked below them, although it does work out that way in some cases.
@adaptation97 You think that Marciano could take punches from Liston, Foreman, Shavers, Lyle? Marciano would get stopped at least once. Ali's belongs in that list.
George was a tough guy. He was robbed when he fought Terrell for the title. If he didn't have guys like Ali, Frazier, Foreman around he would probably been champ. In the 80's Greg page, Trevor Berbick, Mike Weaver etc era he would definitely pick up a belt
Toughest boxer EVER. Not the best, but even Rocky Marciano had (a teeny bit) less ability to take the bombs. Ali so damned fast.. George beat him up on the inside
Only thing that's missing in Chuvalo's career is heavyweight title.Nobody could knock him down.Ali said that it was toughest guy to fight with....Chuvalo did not hide, not even 1 second, always going back in attack. Chuvalo is a Champ!!!!!!!!!!
I remember watching these fights on TV with my dad and brother back in the 60s.It's hard to believe we saw such amazing fights without all this BS "pay per view" jive you have to put up with now.Saw some great hockey games back then too-Bobby Hull,Gordy Howe,Bobby Ore,Guy Lafleur -all part of an amazing time.
George Louis "Juraj" Chuvalo (Toronto, September 12, 1937.) Is a former Canadian heavyweight boxer, of CROATIAN origin. He is the most successful Canadian boxer of all time and is among the most successful boxers in general. His parents Stipan and Kate Cuvalo were settlers from Herzegovina, the father from the village Proboj and a mother from the village Grljević, municipality Ljubuški. Parents did not know English upon arrival in Canada so that he only learned of them Croatian.
@veeseee128 he never got his ass kicked by Ali, and in 90+ fights he was never knocked out or knocked down. the only two fighters to ever stop him were Frazier and Foreman. Whether you want to admit it or not, Chuvalo was awesome. BTW he has more knockouts than Ali, Frazier, and Foreman. ;)
@veeseee128 Chuvalo has less than twenty losses and almost a hundred fights. A lot of them were robberies too - Cleroux, Foley, Terrell (for the WBA championship), Bonavena, and I think Chuvalo won the Patterson fight too. Pacquiao has at least five losses but he's better than undefeated Mayweather. Ali has some losses and he's better than Marciano. A record only says so much. It's about who you fight and the character that you establish in the ring.
@atmoi666 did he get his assw hupped by ali? or you gonna deny that too. you sre blinder than stevie wonder and ray charles combined if you do. he was in the ring with the greatest heavy weight of all time, perhaps the greates boxer of all time, and fast ass hell! Look at the way chuvalo just beats alis fist with his face.hhahahahahahahaah........................your fun....funn...funny.........
@veeseee128 I like Ali as a fighter but you just come on here and rip on Chuvalo. I definitely don't think Ali was the best fighter ever but he was pretty damn good. You can't say that Chuvalo 'got his his ass whupped' tho if Ali ended up in the hospital and called it the toughest fight of his career. The guy had 97 fights, was heavyweight champ of canada for more than two decades, was ranked in the top ten of heavyweight boxing longer than anyone, and you come on here and call him a bum?
@atmoi666 little man you come on here and act like you and chuvalo are a couple. It is what it is son. your boy lost to ali and thats all. LEARN IT, LIVE IT AND ACCEPT IT. HHEHEEHAHAHAHAHA.......................
@veeseee128 sure he lost the fight but he didn't lose the war. Ali was hospitalized for bleeding kidkeys. Call the hospital and ask them yourself. Oh wait, they're in on some conspiracy too, right?
@324582782 What people don't realize is that Ali let Chuvalo hit him in the body/kidneys, at one point in the fight(near the beginning he grabs Chuvalo and tells him to hit him in the body and so Chuvalo wacks away. Ali didn't go to the hospital because Chuvalo skillfully hit him to the body, Ali apart from not taking Chuvalo seriously he LET HIM hit him in the body. But Chuvalo is still a heavyweight legend, for Ali to still win by a blowout UD against Chuvalo takes greatness.
@atmoi666 Joe Frazier went to the hospital for much longer in Ali-Frazier 1 than Ali did...so did Ali win that fight??? It was close but no. Ali won nearly every round of this fight and a huge UD.
@atmoi666 Chuvalo certainly isn't a bum, he forms part of the heavyweight legends of the 60s and 70s. Thats why Ali is considered the greatest, because he was able to beat the best fighters in the best era of heavyweight fighters, a list that includes Chuvalo.
well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that you SHOULD be proud to be standing after fighting Ali, let alone EVERY top heavy weight in the world. & btw, 65 KOs in his career proves he did more than just stand there and be the toughest guy that ever walked in the ring.
oh did you mean "revered" when u wrote revereRED? or were you referring to color again? & pls show me the Bieber video i have uploaded, id gladly take it down. or were you evading the issue by low-balling me again?
@batesey89 liz you know nothing about boxing. all you doing is makin exscuses for that loser bum chuvalo. he should be glad he got his ass beat by the "Greatest". he became famous just for that and so did foreman. you are too young to tell me anything about boxing. because you dont KNOW NOTHING! stick to your justin beiber videos.
OH AND BY THE WAY, why would "THE GREATEST" (who gave himself that name) have to have his opponent take a dive in order to win. seems kinda fishy. but then again, hes black, so he musta been better. oh wait, Liston was blacker than Ali. WHO should i pick now?? this is why skin colour DOES NOT MATTER.

@veeseee128 If Ali could speak, he'd tell you to have more respect for Chuvalo. He called Chuvalo the toughest opponent of his career. Remember, ALi was hospitalized after this. Chuvalo wasn't. Ali won the fight but Chuvalo won the war. This is a legendary boxing match. Also, it wasn't 12 rounds - it was 15. Their second fight was 12 rounds.
@veeseee128 actually, i'm mulatto. but the way you're talking doesn't make black people look good. (i'm assuming you're black because you seem to be ripping on white people a lot). grow up and have some respect
@atmoi666 what do you have against ali? cant you see he was the greatest of all time? Chuvalo might have went out dancin after the fight but he got his ass beat, he lost. I dont know why he would want to go dancin after getting beat like that.? His eyes were swollen shut. why would he want to go out after taking a beating like that?. Chuvalo is chuvalo is one of the worst fighters ever. he lost against ali, foreman, and frazier. what do you see in this chuvalo cat?
@veeseee128 When you judge a fighter, you have to consider the quality of their opposition. Fact of the matter is that Chuvalo was ranked in the top ten of heavyweight boxing longer than any other fighter - 17 years! Ali, Frazier, and Foreman would not be legends if they couldn't beat a guy like Chuvalo. Chuvalo has 65 knockouts! That's more knockouts than Tyson, Marciano, and Frazier have had fights! And IMO I think Chuvalo won the 2nd Ali fight and that the Foreman bout was stopped early.
that's funny that you try to bring color into the equation. its sad you judge a fighter by his SKIN COLOR and not his quality. but now we ALL know why you can't judge a boxing match to save your ass.
"He's the toughest guy I ever fought", said Ali of Chuvalo after the fight. maybe you should pay attention to what the fighter YOU claim is the best says of his own opponents. just a SMALL suggestion for ya.
@batesey89 Liz you dont know what you talkin bout baby girl. Boxing is a mans sport. why you interested in boxing? Chuvalo got his ass whupped regardless of him being tough. you dont just win a fight by being tough alone. Ali said that because your boy took a lot of punishment from ali. Ali used his face for a punchin bag for 15 rounds and he was still standin. thats why ali said that. He just meant the guy can take an ass whuppin. hahahaha....... he still lost. hahaha.....
Chuvalo never got in the ring with the likes of muhammad ali. How he even got a shot at alis title is beyond me. he never faced someone so fast and could just punish his awkward ass with numerous hits to the face. Clay beat his ass, he outclassed the bumb, typical whiteboy. Chuvalo lost unamisously,hehehaha....
They say that Chuck Wepner was the model for Rocky, but Chuvalo actually fights much more like the Rocky character, taking shots to the head in order to get in shots to the body, and getting himself cut up in the process.
@dcspaced Interesting that you picked up on this. If you watch the first Rocky movie and watch the scene where Rocky and Adrian are skating at the rink, he shows her a picture of him fighting. The picture he shows Adrian is actually Chuvalo when he knocked out the heavyweight champion of Italy, Dante Cane. Rocky is based upon Chuvalo, but Chuvalo was a much better fighter.
veesee128: yo, u ingnorant black boy; u insecure, uneducated mtf - did clay stagger Chuvalo once? Uhh... not. Clay alwys fawt using "Andre Durrell Skool of Boxing" tchnqs - holding/clinching//dancing/mor holding/, & hs fave - the lft gluv grbbng round neck. Clay nvr touchd him! U cunts luv 2 call white men "boys". I wndr Y? 2 salve yor inherent insecurity & inferiority cmplxs? Yor use of "boy" is o-dated & trnsprnt; kind of like how the wite supremacists/rednx employed the same lingo decades a
bangitsio: u black boys kill me w/ the "white boy" shit. Go call Dempsy, Baer, Chuvalo, Quarry, Froch, Abraham, Kessler "white boys", tuff blackboy-biatch mothafucka
look at the punches chuvalo gives him at 2:14! NASTY!! he did lots of these kidney punches all through the fight which is the reason ali was pissing blood after the fight.
All you internet boxing and Ali fans only saw that movie with Will Smith so you are fans of the guy.
Ali was kind of frustrating to me back in the day because he ran his mouth more than he fought and he could have done so much more physically in my opinion.
@bptaylor11, foreal man?! ali got aay from that fight with a swollen jaw. Joe Frazier was immediately put in INTENSIVE CARE after that fight, and was near death
@kingdarius1991 You need to study more up on that fight, King. If your name having 1991 in it reveals anything about you at all then you are way too young to have been around when Ali was around.
I loved and hated Ali at the same time. Wish he would have shut up his mouth and fought some times. He may be the greatest heavyweight ever but in my book he could have been even better if he put aside that "what's my name, bullshit"
Sorry if that offends you. Just my thoughts on the man.
@bptaylor11, atcually I was born on December 25th 1970. And no your comment doesn't affend me, you were just speaking your mind, which is actually what Ali did. And the fight that I was talking about was the fight of the century (March 8th, 1971, Ali's first fight with Frazier)

Good to see Ali at his peak, though this wasn't a peak performance. Is that Joe Louis in Chuvalo's corner? Tough man, Chuvalo. Sheer physical hardness counts for alot in fighting. Irrespective of skill level, without it you won't get far. With it, no matter how slow or unskilled you may be (and I'm not suggesting George was either!), you can be at or near the top for years, if only because every new young gunslinger wants to be the first to take you out.
That's really incredible that he wasn't knocked down, but I have to think he would've been if the Foreman and/or Frazier fights hadn't been stopped early. He was handled early in those fights.
Ali said this was his toughest fight up until he was stripped of the title. Their rematch was actually a close fight, one of the best in George's career.
George had the hardest chin in history. Never down as a pro or amateur, and he says never down even in sparring. If he only had faster feet and more power in his right hand...
People don't realize something - ALI WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER EVERY FIGHT HE HAD - IT IS HIS MUSLIM BELIEF TO HAVE THE BODY CHECKED AFTER A FIGHT. EVERY SINGLE FIGHT!! HE played with Chuvalo in this fight. One Official had him winning 12 rounds. He plays with these White boys. This fight was absolutely NO CONTEST - hahahahahaha!
@DeCavalcante He has a form of Parkinson's jackass! People who never took a hard punch in their life have the same affliction. His mind is fine, but his motor skills are inhibited.
@bangitslo you need to have your head checked you dumb coon.... if you knew anything about fuckin fighting you would know that chuvalo got robbed this fight ... and he played with him???? let me tell you something asshole tell me right now whos the fuckin retard who cant talk or do anything for himself anymore ... thats right Ali because he used to let people smash him.. so Foreman smashed his face in, chuvalo gave him a beating too. So his little game ate him up in the long run
Why does it seem like when I look at the videos of Ali fights against white guys, there is alot of comments justifying on why Ali won? lol Sad and ridiculous.
@tgtexas18 He pressured him and tried to take away ali's speed. He didnt want to give Ali space where he could work. Plus when you see that one time in round one where Chuvalo hits Ali like a dozen times in the stomach, Ali LET that happen. Ali rightly deserved to those bleeding Kidneys trying to fool around and fighting Chuvalo. Eat it
@POTATER1228 obviously he kept runnin cuz he couldn't take the whoopin ali wouldve put on that ass from a distance, the ref stopped it here and in part 2, look at his face, he was scared that was gonna happen here.
@tgtexas18 Please, it doesnt take a man to LET his ass get whooped, that take a COMPLETE MORON. Chuvalo went after him the best way he could, making Ali uncomfortable all night. Chuvalo is a warrior, and made Ali feel that he was in a fight
@tgtexas18 Chuvalo always came forward and was never knocked off his feet in 93 fights. Man he lost his kids and his wife. One of the toughest men ever born ang Gave Floyd Patterson, foreman, Frazier, and Ali HELL. One of the greatest fighters who never won a title
@POTATER1228 ---wait a minute. I agree with u he was one of the toughest ever. But Foreman and Frazier stopped him early---he didnt give them too much hell. I didnt like fact that he was a dirty fighter
@loyaldude10 True, but rememeber that the second Ali fight was really Chuvalo's last major fight, after that wear and tear took a little bit of a toll on him. Frazier stopped him by TKO but was unable to knock him down, same goes for George whos is probably one of the biggest punchers in history, but Chuvalo wasnt knocked down in 3 rounds, where Frazier was knocked down 6 times in 2 rounds. 93 fights, no knockdown EVER. That;s got to count for something
@101Mustanglover If you take notice Ali took those shots on purpose to prove he could take tough hits any other time Ali would dance and counter more wasting away his opponet rapidly. Most fighters would have went down taking shots like that from a hard hitting inside fighter like chavalo
@connymat well if you were blessed enough to have such elusivness like ali and did'nt have to take those shots you would pefer counter punching as well my friend.
@phildirt3: good point. yes he converted to Islam in 1964, before this fight. but at that time, very few reporters called him by his new name. this was right in the middle of civil rights era, lots of racism n shit.
If Ali had so many flaws then Chuvalo should have knocked him out. What does that say for all those greats Ali beat who should have knocked him out ? People can hate on Ali all day long because there are Just as many fans who will come out and remind them that Muhammad Ali is still the Greatest. lol...
@Poptartwizard34 Muhammad Ali is not the Greatest only because he was a skilled fighter but because he kept the sport alive and brought many new pages to the rules of this game....Without Ali this game would have died a long long time ago..This is why Mayweather isn't considered champ even though he holds the belt...To be a champ means you care for the sport, not just your record....This is what Ali displayed....peace....
And btw...Ali said this was his TOUGHEST fight so far...especially when this was one of his prime times in history it mustve been a pretty tough fight for him...
Chuvalo is all heart man, THis guy is a true champion. Even after his 3/5 kids died of herion addictions and his wife killed herself by over doesing the man still stands strong... He fought for reasons and passion.
Ali was definitely no better than your average boxer. He talked shit and bounced around the ring. But because he caused a lot of ruckus and made a lot of commotion with his loud mouth, everyone thinks he's the man. All his bouncing around and lip talk landed him a short hop across the line from being a vegetable. Too bad nobody landed that final blow to send him over it.
@MysticBuu wow u faggot bitch i dare u disrespect that man like he's not worth more than your family...you want to know who's a aveage fighter huh your father was a average fighter...ali could whoop yo ass your dad ass at the same time...yeah he talked and backed it up gay cuz
Love boxing. Know enough of it that when I make a comment that goes against the general public opinion, it causes a shit storm. Especially when it's about someone who's heralded as an icon. But it's like the quote I always love: If what you say doesn't cause argument, then it ain't worth saying.
Al;i should have used his speed more.

It's just my opinion, but I think that a Vitali Klitschko would beat prime Ali. The size difference would be too big.
stat2k 1 month ago
@stat2k I know what you're saying, but Liston's reach was the same as vitali's, and Vitali doesn't have great stamina. Since Vitali boxes in a 12 round era, Ali 15, Ali would have more muscle than he did if he was in a 12 round era.
carmodifire 1 month ago in playlist Muhammad Ali Vs George Chuvalo I
@stat2k Ali easily destroyed a 6'7 Earnie Terrel. Your size difference theory only goes through the window.
NyyGyro 1 month ago
@NyyGyro Klitschko easily handled David Haye, and that was the weaker of those two.
Now I understand that Haye is shit to Ali, but Terrell is also shit compared to Vitali Klitschko who is an all-time-great.
So it's YOUR theory that goes through the window. Don't be butthurt. I'm a Muhammad Ali fan just like you. But realistically, a tall guy who has good defense and who can box, is dangerous to anybody. Lennox Lewis found out that he's not the only one.
stat2k 1 month ago
@stat2k Nope, yours goes through the window because you were the one blindly saying size difference would make Ali lose(which pretty much says you don't know much about boxing). Ali would make Klitschko look much like he did Terrell, like an amateur. And everyone knows you're not an Ali fan here. Good day.
NyyGyro 1 month ago
@NyyGyro Obviously I don't know as much about boxing as you do. Bring up some opponent from 50 years ago and sell it as your no. 1 argument - How do I get that knowledgable?
Klitschko's jab is much better than Terrells. He fights tall. He's a leaner like Ali - he rolls back from your punch and pops the right hand. Ali would have to be on his bike to win that fight.
Ony 1960ies can win that fight. But 1970ies Ali at 212 pounds? And with no bike? Please be more realistic.
stat2k 1 month ago
@stat2k You're going to have to come up with something better than that to even give Klitschko a chance to beat Ali. You assumed size would be the difference, which like I said goes right through the window.
Terrell BTW would beat Klitschko anyday.

Probably Ali, but Kenny gave him hell 3x.
stat2k 1 month ago
@stat2k Ali handled Liston who had longer reach than him AND Klitschko, now you are trying to switch it up with reach by putting your sorry excuses and assumptions. Ali had an 80 inch reach, Klitschko has an almost identical of 81, Liston had an insane 84. Give it up, you are a Klitschko lover and Ali hater. Ali would most likely whoop both klitschkos at the same time.
vladiator100 1 week ago
@vladiator100 Again I have to explain to you that I'm not talking about THE KLITSCHKOS, I'm talking about VITALI KLITSCHKO. The man who was beating Lennox Lewis to the punch, who never was decisioned, KO'd or even dropped.
You're right about reach, but what about height? It's hard to land a shot on Vitali's head. And Ali certainly won't hurt him with body punches because Ali never went to the body.
I think prime Ali (around 1966) beats him ... 1970ies Ali gets lots of problems.

BOth Alis are way to fast for slomo klitscko
UT5000 1 day ago in playlist Muhammad Ali Vs George Chuvalo I
@UT5000 The speed and stamina of 1970ies Ali is not even close to the speed and stamina of 1966 Ali - do you deny that? I wish there would've never been the 3-year-layoff. But at least Ali took that punishment in order to make an important statement.
stat2k 1 day ago
@stat2k
Klitscko doesn't have that credit at all on Louis and i doubt any champion before him excpet for a few but none in teh golden age.
UT5000 1 day ago in playlist Muhammad Ali Vs George Chuvalo I
@UT5000 I don't know where you're heading with this - "credit", "golden age" ... can't you see that those are only words? It doesn't have anything to do with the reality that takes place in the ring. Vitali is not responsible for the opponents he fights. He's a dangerous heavyweight - and given the size different, I suggest to you that he'd be a horror match-up for Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Frazier.
stat2k 1 day ago
@stat2kI personally think Frazier would beat him because of his weaving and power, klitscko is like lewis and everyone says they are way to mechanical not fast and mobile, and golden age is a tilte and george chuvalo feels teh same way, i saw him say it at an interview, and yes Ali doesn't ahve teh evasive speed, however his hand speed was at about 75-80 percent but that just shows how gud Ali is, and his stamina in my opinion is also almost as high because of his fight in manila and w/ shavers.
UT5000 1 day ago
@stat2k Where exactly do you rate Klitschko all time?
allthingsarelikethis 3 weeks ago in playlist Muhammad Ali
@allthingsarelikethis Vitali Klitschko is in the all-time top 10... In my opinion, when we talk about Vitali, then we have to talk about him along Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.
He didn't have a big impact on boxing like them, but he is that good. Lennox Lewis retired because of HIM.
Vitali has never been dropped - even Ali has been dropped.
His brother Wladimir on the other side is more vulnerable. Lennox would've never retired because of him.
stat2k 3 weeks ago
@stat2k To me he is not exciting enough of a fighter to be top ten, he is dominate but he has a very small pool of talent to fight at this weight, we also almost must consider him a 'super heavyweight' as he is huge and would give anybody in history issues due to his size.
I just cannot get on board with the top ten status with his level of opposition and his seemingly boring style, now maybe if he would fight his brother who is the only other name in the division it could put him in.
allthingsarelikethis 3 weeks ago
@stat2k Lennox beat him so I don't know why you think that he retired simply because of Vitali, it was a close fight but Lennox was getting old and probably retired due to the fact that he felt old after and during this fight. It is not like Vitali ran him out of the ring or knocked him out, just saying I am not sure I agree with your views on this fight.
allthingsarelikethis 3 weeks ago
@allthingsarelikethis Lennox was behind on every score card until he gave him a bad cut. Almost everyone wanted the to see the rematch.
Lennox was old? He could've retired at 32, at 34, at 36, but he chose to retire at 38. Reason for that was Vitali.
stat2k 3 weeks ago
@stat2k All I am saying is that 38 is old in boxing and Vitali was much younger, after the fight Lennox felt old and did not want to continue to fight and no matter what excuses you want to give Vitali he lost to a 38 year old fighter who would in my opinion ripped Vitali up in his prime, Lennox MIGHT be a 10 heavyweights of all time, he fought better opposition than Vitali and beat Vitali himself and he might not even be a top ten heavyweight of all time.
allthingsarelikethis 3 weeks ago
@allthingsarelikethis I think both Lennox and Vitali are top 10s. The others beeing Louis, Liston, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield.
The HW divison has evolved, the athletes got bigger and faster, that's why I won't include guys like Dempsey and Marciano. Jack Johnson might be there, but his time is so long ago.
Vitali is certainly ahead of guys like Floyd Patterson, Ken Norton, Tim Witherspoon and Riddick Bowe. If he's not in the top10, he's very close.
stat2k 3 weeks ago
allthingsarelikethis 3 weeks ago
@allthingsarelikethis I think Patterson is underrated, but I don't see how he's ahead of Holmes... Holmes would've beaten everybody Patterson fought except from Ali and Liston maybe... but Chuvalo, Machen, Bonavena, Ellis, Cooper, Quarry would've been no issue for Holmes.
Ali said that Floyd was the most talented he fought, I would've liked to see him against Norton and Frazier.
stat2k 3 weeks ago
@stat2k Yeah Holmes would have beat Patterson in a match, my list is skewed by my own joy of watching them fight or in the case of Dempsey the stories of his fights and his ability to hit hard with both hands has always made me think highly of him, my list does not take into account if they could beat the fighters ranked below them, although it does work out that way in some cases.

The guy had 97 fights, was heavyweight champ of canada for more than two decades, was ranked in the top ten of heavyweight boxing longer than anyone, and you come on here and call him a bum?

atmoi666 9 months ago
@atmoi666 you dont have an argument son. grow up.
veeseee128 9 months ago
@veeseee128 Well, since you seem to be unable to figure out what the argument is, here's a formal version of it:
1. If Ali 'whupped' Chuvalo, then Ali would not have been hospitalized after fighting Chuvalo.
2. Ali was hospitalized after fighting Chuvalo due to kidney damage and internal bleeding.
Therefore,
C. It's not the case that Ali 'whupped' Chuvalo.
There's the argument, 'son'. Got anything else? If so, come with facts - not speculation.
atmoi666 9 months ago
@atmoi666 Ali went to hospital or not the bottom line is that Ali won and just played with Chuvalo.
He didnt took chuvalo seriously thats why he got some injuries.
324582782 9 months ago
@324582782 What people don't realize is that Ali let Chuvalo hit him in the body/kidneys, at one point in the fight(near the beginning he grabs Chuvalo and tells him to hit him in the body and so Chuvalo wacks away. Ali didn't go to the hospital because Chuvalo skillfully hit him to the body, Ali apart from not taking Chuvalo seriously he LET HIM hit him in the body. But Chuvalo is still a heavyweight legend, for Ali to still win by a blowout UD against Chuvalo takes greatness.
vladiator100 8 months ago
@atmoi666 Joe Frazier went to the hospital for much longer in Ali-Frazier 1 than Ali did...so did Ali win that fight??? It was close but no. Ali won nearly every round of this fight and a huge UD.

@atmoi666 Chuvalo certainly isn't a bum, he forms part of the heavyweight legends of the 60s and 70s. Thats why Ali is considered the greatest, because he was able to beat the best fighters in the best era of heavyweight fighters, a list that includes Chuvalo.

veeseee128 11 months ago
@veeseee128 When you judge a fighter, you have to consider the quality of their opposition. Fact of the matter is that Chuvalo was ranked in the top ten of heavyweight boxing longer than any other fighter - 17 years! Ali, Frazier, and Foreman would not be legends if they couldn't beat a guy like Chuvalo. Chuvalo has 65 knockouts! That's more knockouts than Tyson, Marciano, and Frazier have had fights! And IMO I think Chuvalo won the 2nd Ali fight and that the Foreman bout was stopped early.

@bangitslo What do you mean he played with "these White boys?" You sound a bit racist.
aoxomoxoa88 1 year ago
@bangitslo you need to have your head checked you dumb coon.... if you knew anything about fuckin fighting you would know that chuvalo got robbed this fight ... and he played with him???? let me tell you something asshole tell me right now whos the fuckin retard who cant talk or do anything for himself anymore ... thats right Ali because he used to let people smash him.. so Foreman smashed his face in, chuvalo gave him a beating too. So his little game ate him up in the long run

@bangitslo pretty sad that you have to take this to a racial leve. sad indeed

Why does it seem like when I look at the videos of Ali fights against white guys, there is alot of comments justifying on why Ali won? lol Sad and ridiculous.

After this fight Ali went to the hospital with bleeding kidnyees. Chuvalo went dancing with his wife.
101Mustanglover 1 year ago 6
@101Mustanglover maybe chuvalo should have been a little busier in the ring and he wouldn't have lost.
Robstailey 1 year ago
@101Mustanglover you see why he had bleeding kidneys Chuvalo kept rushing him and hittin him in the side of the stomach, that aint boxing.
tgtexas18 1 year ago
@tgtexas18 Its legit. get over it
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@POTATER1228 no its not if it was the ref wouldnt keep stopping it, get over that.
tgtexas18 1 year ago
@tgtexas18 He pressured him and tried to take away ali's speed. He didnt want to give Ali space where he could work. Plus when you see that one time in round one where Chuvalo hits Ali like a dozen times in the stomach, Ali LET that happen. Ali rightly deserved to those bleeding Kidneys trying to fool around and fighting Chuvalo. Eat it
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@POTATER1228 who won? eat that.
tgtexas18 1 year ago
@tgtexas18 Who had to go to the hospital? And who got to go home straight after the fight? Bite me
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@POTATER1228 obviously he kept runnin cuz he couldn't take the whoopin ali wouldve put on that ass from a distance, the ref stopped it here and in part 2, look at his face, he was scared that was gonna happen here.
tgtexas18 1 year ago
@tgtexas18 Please, it doesnt take a man to LET his ass get whooped, that take a COMPLETE MORON. Chuvalo went after him the best way he could, making Ali uncomfortable all night. Chuvalo is a warrior, and made Ali feel that he was in a fight
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@tgtexas18 Chuvalo always came forward and was never knocked off his feet in 93 fights. Man he lost his kids and his wife. One of the toughest men ever born ang Gave Floyd Patterson, foreman, Frazier, and Ali HELL. One of the greatest fighters who never won a title
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@POTATER1228 I respect him for all that and losing family is tragic but this is not the issue at hand.
tgtexas18 1 year ago
@POTATER1228 ---wait a minute. I agree with u he was one of the toughest ever. But Foreman and Frazier stopped him early---he didnt give them too much hell. I didnt like fact that he was a dirty fighter
loyaldude10 1 year ago
@loyaldude10 True, but rememeber that the second Ali fight was really Chuvalo's last major fight, after that wear and tear took a little bit of a toll on him. Frazier stopped him by TKO but was unable to knock him down, same goes for George whos is probably one of the biggest punchers in history, but Chuvalo wasnt knocked down in 3 rounds, where Frazier was knocked down 6 times in 2 rounds. 93 fights, no knockdown EVER. That;s got to count for something
POTATER1228 1 year ago
@101Mustanglover If you take notice Ali took those shots on purpose to prove he could take tough hits any other time Ali would dance and counter more wasting away his opponet rapidly. Most fighters would have went down taking shots like that from a hard hitting inside fighter like chavalo
jackfrost365 1 year ago
@jackfrost365 Well, he did it just once.. to be honest. And he really didnt like it.
connymat 1 year ago
@connymat well if you were blessed enough to have such elusivness like ali and did'nt have to take those shots you would pefer counter punching as well my friend.
jackfrost365 11 months ago
@jackfrost365 Well of course, didnt say he shouldnt.

If chuvalo would of just had a better offense, there is no doubt in my mind that he would be considered the greatest fighter ever.

phildirt3 1 year ago
@phildirt3: good point. yes he converted to Islam in 1964, before this fight. but at that time, very few reporters called him by his new name. this was right in the middle of civil rights era, lots of racism n shit.

should put chuvalo in fight night
AngryScotProductions 1 year ago
If Ali had so many flaws then Chuvalo should have knocked him out. What does that say for all those greats Ali beat who should have knocked him out ? People can hate on Ali all day long because there are Just as many fans who will come out and remind them that Muhammad Ali is still the Greatest. lol...
truthhitmanisback 1 year ago
About 8 1/2 out of 10 words by the commentator is "chuvalo". Can you imagine his pain, when his favourite word gets beaten?
roninontherun 1 year ago
Wow why is everyone hating on Ali?...He deserved the win just off Jabs...
jetdatboy 1 year ago 2
This fight perfectly illustrates all of the technical flaws in Muhammad Ali's style and proves that he is not the greatest.
Poptartwizard34 1 year ago
@Poptartwizard34 Muhammad Ali is not the Greatest only because he was a skilled fighter but because he kept the sport alive and brought many new pages to the rules of this game....Without Ali this game would have died a long long time ago..This is why Mayweather isn't considered champ even though he holds the belt...To be a champ means you care for the sport, not just your record....This is what Ali displayed....peace....
jetdatboy 1 year ago
Chuvalo=Tough dude hands down...
And btw...Ali said this was his TOUGHEST fight so far...especially when this was one of his prime times in history it mustve been a pretty tough fight for him...
otherdude15 1 year ago
Chuvalo is all heart man, THis guy is a true champion. Even after his 3/5 kids died of herion addictions and his wife killed herself by over doesing the man still stands strong... He fought for reasons and passion.

Ali was definitely no better than your average boxer. He talked shit and bounced around the ring. But because he caused a lot of ruckus and made a lot of commotion with his loud mouth, everyone thinks he's the man. All his bouncing around and lip talk landed him a short hop across the line from being a vegetable. Too bad nobody landed that final blow to send him over it.
MysticBuu 1 year ago
@MysticBuu wow u faggot bitch i dare u disrespect that man like he's not worth more than your family...you want to know who's a aveage fighter huh your father was a average fighter...ali could whoop yo ass your dad ass at the same time...yeah he talked and backed it up gay cuz

Love boxing. Know enough of it that when I make a comment that goes against the general public opinion, it causes a shit storm. Especially when it's about someone who's heralded as an icon. But it's like the quote I always love: If what you say doesn't cause argument, then it ain't worth saying.
