Yes, they are SUPPOSED to, but they aren't doing it. The Federal Judiciary has basically de-evolved into a good ol' boy system of "justice". They're also SUPPOSED to abide by the Constitution - they're not.
The U.S. Supreme Court is also REQUIRED by their very own precedent - & it is also their primary function - to INTERPRET THE CONSTITUTION when a "First Impression" Constitutional question is brought before it.

The system is broken, at present though, because the ascent of such cases is stymied along the way. That means that all three branches of government have failed. There are 3 basic methods to restore Constitutional order in government: by the ballot box, federal litigation, and by petitioning for redress. The ballot box doesn't seem to be working too well at the present time. We basically have a one-party system in the guise of two, where both factions of the uni-party have the same basic core agenda. The present system of government was established NOT in 1776 but in 1944 by a little known supra-sovereign treaty (BRETTON WOODS). How can you say the Patriot Act is constitutional when the argument is far from over? There are some SERIOUS issues with that document that are yet to be resolved (or for some just ignored). Yes, they are SUPPOSED to, but they aren't doing it. The Federal Judiciary has basically de-evolved into a good ol' boy system of "justice". They're also SUPPOSED to abide by the Constitution - they're not.
The U.S. Supreme Court is also REQUIRED by their very own precedent - & it is also their primary function - to INTERPRET THE CONSTITUTION when a "First Impression" Constitutional question is brought before it.

The Supreme Court doesn't just read newpapers and then provide judgments. They need to be presented with cases that have worked their way up through the judicial system. The system is broken, at present though, because the ascent of such cases is stymied along the way. That means that all three branches of government have failed. The We The People Congress are trying the last option: direct redress from the people. Getting them to address that is the point here. Beyond that is only r3V0Lution.

Look up Consequentialism and really dwell on its meaning. We are to understand cause and consequence. You must know how the public thinks and what gets them going. A horrible talk that is "exciting" will bring in more listeners than a great talk that is "boring." Don't be stubborn. Get with it.

Our debt monetary system means if everyone who has a loan outstanding were to pay it off 100% tomorrow, there would be no paper money left in circulation; only the coins in our pockets. Coins are the only medium of exchange we have that isn't brought into existence from debt. This is why the commoners (us) are all economic slaves. The U.S. Government has made the exploration of oil and gas, where we know it is, ILLEGAL or impossible to get a permit or otherwise prohibited. This and not allowing refineries to be built are the sole reasons for Gasoline, heat, light, electricity and food prices to skyrocket to the point we can not afford to live! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

That's not the answer, we'll eventually run out of that too. The only way is alternative sources of energy. Besides, America's gasoline is way cheaper than it is in most countries. I hear in England it's already close to 10 bucks a gallon and their economy is not as bad as ours.

Oil and Gas supplies in and around the United States is in the multiple TRILLIONS of Barrels. It is likely that with even major growth in need these supplies would last about 200 years. What you don't realize is where relatively all the oil has been harvested since the first automobile. Do you know where the vast majority of oil (and natural gas) has been discovered? ... The answer is land. How much of our planet is land? How much of our planet is water?

Our elected officials have, for the most part, miserably failed us. There is currently no accountability except at the ballot box. And it appears that are elected representatives - and the money that supports them, pretty much controls our elections. The 800 year old Right to Petition, encapsulated within the First Amendment as the capstone Right, MUST BE REDISCOVERED. Bob Schulz has been the leading advocate of restoring this "lost" Right. the bottom line to me is whether or not the members of the Federal Government is to be held accountable to the Constitution, by which they swear oaths of office to protect and uphold.

There are 3 basic methods to restore Constitutional order in government: by the ballot box, federal litigation, and by petitioning for redress. The ballot box doesn't seem to be working too well at the present time. We basically have a one-party system in the guise of two, where both factions of the uni-party have the same basic core agenda. The judicial system is corrupt & no longer sees fit to support the People's Rights. The Right to Petition is our last real hope for accountability in gov't.

The message is too important to be a "tax avoidance scheme". Perhaps we could include with our payment that we demand it be put in escrow and not even borrowed against. That would keep up within the law yet make our protest.

As far as BagofEyebrows comments go, that suggestion also would be great (start at the state level) with the exception that they have intricating taken that also away from the people - the 17th Amendment made the state's no more than lackeys for the federal government (and special interest lobbyists) when the original election of senators (by the state legislatures) was overridden and now are elected by the people, thus, the state's voice and influence weakened (and thus campaign graft)...

Igg - question why Ron Paul, a true Constitutionalist, would not respond to the redress of grievances. It comes down to Constitutional procedure. Bob's plan is genius, it is only missing a few tiny steps that Ron Paul's meetup groups could easily implement with their Representatives. Then it can and will be following Constitutional procedure as it stands. Also, INSTRUCTIONS for penalties, changes and actions to be taken must be included in the petition, or nothing happens.
