@rstatus2009 you might want to check that in the brushes window you have opacity jitter unselected. Also check you haven't accidentally lowered the opacity of your brush or the layer - or set the brush to another setting like multiply.

I have to say, for a quick little demonstration video, I actually found this video to be very helpful.

I just got a graphics tablet with hopes of being able to draw some really nice art in Photoshop, but one of my biggest problems was just figuring out how to get a good work started and figuring out how to take it from one stage to another, more complex stage, and watching this gave me some good ideas on how to get a work really going. Thanks!

@NightOfTheWereCat If I had a document open at 300dpi I'd be using a standard black round brush 5 px wide for inking. It's thicker than most people use, but I like the variability.

@Loriiik I have done a few tutorials if you go to my account page you can see them. They run you through from sketching to shading. As books I recommend I found "How to draw digital Manga" a great help when I first got started. It doesn't matter if you don't like Manga style art because the book isn't about drawing manga its about learning to draw into photoshop. It's an easy and accessible book, good for beginners.

@xLRsT If you have a tablet there is a slider on the side of it which allows you to zoom in and out. Alternatively you can press Z in photoshop and load the zoom tool which you can just click to zoom in or out for.

@claire409 A graphical tablet is a tool used to draw on computer, as desribed in warhammer40th's post, it looks a bit like an ipad and you draw with a pen on it. Most people find it easier to use than a mouse to draw and it detects pressure and can be used to affect opacity or the brushsize.

As far as drawing with a tablet, do you look at the tablet or do you look at the screen the whole time? I just got a tablet and I'm still getting used to it.

@FlyGuy0120 You should actually try to forget you are using a tablet and just look at the screen. Do you look at your mouse when you're using it ? Looking at the tablet will make you lose track of where your are on the actual drawing and won't really help you draw better, when you're drawing on paper you look at your position on the drawing, not at your hand.

@icandraw123 Select a standard round brush of a size suitable for the size of picture (about 5px usually) and go into the brushes window (selectable from the windows toolbar at the top of the program if not already open). Go to shape dynamics and set size jitter to pen pressure. Then make sure other dynamics is unchecked. Also checked that your opacity is at 100% in the toolbar above your picture

The waist is too wide. Nobody ever leans back like that and the fingers are not bending properly. The hands are funky. Feet are positioned weirdly and the woman's feet are proportioned wrong. The face/head is too small for its body. The womans body is too masculine while the males is too feminine with goofy footwork.

This is my criticism. Take it and advance your drawings.

The two books I found the most helpful were Stan Lee's How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way and Digital Manga Techniques, both of which you can buy from Amazon. After that it is just practise, practise, practise. You have to pay for photoshop, they offer a reduced rate for students if you have some form of student ID, it's quite reasonable.

the picture isn't that good, i didn't say that it was. But most drawers...REAL drawers, not using photoshop, tend to use contours. I'm not saying that you HAVE to, or the result WILL BE better, but it's a common thing for most talented artists use them. I'm not doubting your talent as an artist, but I recommend before you put down other people and claim your talent being better, then you should prove yourself.
