Liz has proven time and time again she isn't afraid of Jason's lifestyle. For 9 years she wasn't afraid, and it wasn't until the 'whitewashing of Sam' began that she was written to be afraid. When Jason needed help, he knew he could turn to Liz and she would be there. So the claims that Liz can't handle his life don't fly.

Cause as memory serves me, Liz never denied being with Jason. Yes, they met in secret but she never said she wasn't with him. As for Sam, I never blamed Sam for Liz's actions. I blame the writers who decided to white wash Sam's deeds by having Liz and Jason do a complete 180, and have Liz act totally out of character when her son was kidnapped.
