  • @xXCookZerooXx philipino

  • why are chinese people hulaing??

  • @Chriisbrown1

just because they're Chinese doesn't mean they can't learn a cultural dance.

  • @Chriisbrown1 SHADY !

  • This is not hula dance. I've been dancing for 8 years... They're a disgrace tithe culture.

  • They aren't even Hawaiian.

  • i look like a monkey on crack when i do this :/

  • =] I used to hula dance. I'm going to start back up again this week! Mahalo!

  • I looked this up because i wanted to dance to isreal kamakawiwo'ole

  • @kiareshleyla Sorry, but this isn't gonna help. Not to be a bully or anything, i think you're getting the wrong idea. Hula isn't a performance. It's was originally made for sacred practices. But when the westerners came, they believed it was a performance, not a traditional practice. Again, not to be mean, but this video isn't gonna help either because when you hula, you're telling to story. So you want the mele to correspond w/ the hula.

  • @2Sweet2BeTru AGGREEEd! I dance and it is to express your culture and was and is DEFINETLY sacred

  • @blah85354 okay i definately understand where you are coming from when you say dance is sacred and to express your culture BUT what about dancing such as Ballet? I dance to express myself not my culture because lets face it...i'm an American i don't exactly have a culture culture...i just go with it but i've danced ballet for 12 years and think its sacred too...what im getting at is a dance like the Hula is sacred but not all dancing is...nor is it all about expressing your culture.

  • I looked this up because i wanted to dance to isreal kamakawiwo'ole

  • Whats the song to this called?

  • Yay i GOT IT IMMA LUCKY WANTCH

  • i'm gonna dance this with some panties on my head

  • ok lets go.....

right- a mirror... haven't got one of those..aw well

a sense of rhythm... definatly havent got that.....

    grace! Sensuality.............

aw well :( maybe hula dancing isnt for me :(

  • Gotta do it now!!!

  • i watched this vid with no intention on actually learning the dance :D

  • they r doin it wrong....it makes me mad....

  • thiss was starred at the polynesian dance school in san bruno thee leader,Manager,Teacher of it is Desiree Antique ! i kno cause i go there they tech real hula !

  • Wait... Do you have to be flat bellied to do this...

  • @FullOfNikkia Probably not, but -if it's like learning belly dance- it will hurt for a while if you're not in shape. Hurt everywhere.

  • Hawiian dudes fine

  • People are so upset that this is not the actual, proper, ancient technique, but guess what? They never claimed it was! This video is for N00BS who just want to shake their hips a little. Of course we know the real thing takes years to master!

  • That short girl is sooo pretty

  • cool

  • HOLOKU MY ASS!! christians are too strict LEAVE OTHER CULTURES ALONE (even tho i am christian)

  • Ok, normally i wouldn't care about this kind of thing, but if Howcast think they can just teach everything, they are wrong. I took hula for about 11 years, im 12, and Howcast makes people think they can learn in 2 minutes. If you really want to learn how to dance like a Hawaiian, you need to fing a good Ko'mo (teacher) to teach you how! Plus hula isn't fun and games, it's respect and honor to our ancesters. So, you will have to go through some hars sweat and pain, if you want to do it right!

  • @giaissocoollike Same here!! I hate it when them tanned ass haole people act like they know everything! aparently they dont! ( i took hula for 11 years too lol)

  • @giaissocoollike Okay,, so you started taking lessons when you were only one year old. I'd like to have seen that XD. Plus: this video is for persons who just want to learn some basics. It's not like you know one step and BANG! you can hula... It's the same with jazz dance or hiphop or something like that: a bodyroll or a pirouette doesn't make you an excellent dancer. Which makes me wonder: why would you watch this if you hate it? So stop ruining your life (because you hate it) and stop

  • @Rocking2Survive just to let you know its people not persons. but agreed lol.

  • @giaissocoollike watching this video, IMEANIT never watch it again... ever!! Plus: it's ancestOrs, not ancestErs. I DO have to say that I respect your culture. But I think that non-christians can also enjoy christmas without really putting any spiritual effort in it. Why not enjoy the hula without knowing why the heck they would dance like that?! Cheers!

  • @Rocking2Survive Yes, i agree. But see it from my p.o.v... This is not just a dance to enjoy. It takes time. This video, is only the first part of hula. From a girl that has been taking classes for this her whole life, it's pretty rediculus to see a video that even fathums trying to teach 300,000 people how to hula. Plus, why donce if you dont know why. People only came to this video because they WANT to learn. If they don't want to learn the RIGHT way, then whats the point of learning at all???

  • LAME!!! This is not the proper technique what so ever!

If y'all want to look like a haole go right a head and dance this way. You don't make wave motions with your arms and you most definitely don't need to do all that unnecessary swaying. Your fingers roll along her thumb like you're rolling a pencil along your thumb and then extend you're fingers like you're dropping it. Hip swaying comes naturally by simply bending lower.

  • im sure you use ur wrists and fingers together. think of how it would look if u didn't.

  • no no no there is guy

  • lmao sir coralleone want dat dat deuh mui bring dat tagalo booty ova heuh!

  • so if a white man was born, raised, and lived in Africa, is he not African?

  • @bbyskittles91 He's African.

  • @bbyskittles91 no, he is still african.

  • why are people saying there's a guy in this?! they all have boobs!!

  • @hazelrain319 The guy had man-boobs.

  • @hazelrain319 at 2:13, the dancer on the right in the back is a man.

  • ...hottehh

  • First, learn how to properly type the title.

Hula literally means dance. So the title really says "How To Dance Dance"

  • you will need: a sense of rhythm. FUCK

  • @caligeek LOL

  • @caligeek xD just listen to alot of music and pick up the rhythm xD Good luck xD

  • @caligeek lol

  • @caligeek so funny that's the same thing i said!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • @you0axed0for0it yes there is. Perhaps you should search the history of the Hawaiian population/island?

  • @you0axed0for0it I would recommend looking closer at your history and where hawaiians came from...

  • WTF im hawaiian and thats not how you fucking hula dance this is offensive thats how u dance like a slut! FUCK THIS VIDEO PISSED ME OFF

  • @LILWALSHY66 Maybe thats not the way YOU hula dance..... some people hula dance differently. just sayin

  • @vampiregirljacklin EXCUSE ME?

hula is hula not this there is no different way of it your not allowed to do a different type of hula its frowned upon in hawaii SO fuck off

  • @LILWALSHY66 My grandparents went to hawaii and they said that they hula his their feet, like it's all about moving the feet when you hula. Is that true?

  • @BLTLipgloss1998 They hula his their feet? It's a number of things that make Hula, Hula. There is the feet movement but that's not the only thing.

  • u suck

  • Hula like all dance has transformed and evolved, back in the old days women used to show no skin at all and were completley covered in traditional garments, now days we see most hula girls in coconut shells and grass(roti) skirts. it just part of evolution.

No offence to the hawaiins but i like the cook islanders hula or 'ura' as they call it. its much faster and more up beat.!!

  • @tuffyanddakota Actually. Most Hula girls, as far as I've noticed, do not have outfits like that.. I'd say it's more of Tahitian that have the coconut shells and grass skirts, if anything.

  • @tuffyanddakota

in ancient times the hula garmet was just ti leaf skirt w/ different types of leis put on the ankles, wrist, head.. such as kahelelani shell lei, fern lei, plumaria flower lei, etc. these were all put together by coconut thread.

  • @tuffyanddakota

cotton was introduced later after the british found hawai'i in the 1790s. years later, american missionaries introduced christianity & thought the hula was too sexual therefore banned it.. The merrie monarch, King Kalākaua, came to power in the late 1800's and brought it back but only letting women wear fully clothed dresses. This is why the "old days" women showed no skin. BUT, in ancient times, women showed everything but their Nani (female organ). lol

    Kalia i ka nu'u.

  • wow the girls are so pretty!

  • Comment removed

  • @KuLaNkii actually...the majority of people who live in hawaii are from japan

  • @Sweetumsh ... er, what?

  • @KuLaNkii dude. there's a theory about polynesians coming from asia thousands of years ago. it's not our fault if we have slightly asain eyes.
