Paul Helmke is a moron! Concealed carry is perfectly legal on the campus of ANY public school in the state of Oregon and there are no problems here. For some reason Oregon keeps getting left out of the media about concealed carry on campus but there is no denying it is legal here. Google Oregon Revised Statutes, Chapter 166. Section 166.370(3)(d) of the ORS is the important part. If anybody wants more info please contact me, I'll be happy to forward you links and other information.

Some schools and districts are making their own policy but they are illegal according to the ORS. Section 166.170(2) of the ORS couldn't be any more clear: "Except as expressly authorized by state statute, no county, city or other municipal corporation

or district may enact civil or criminal ordinances, including but not limited to zoning ordinances, to regulate, restrict or prohibit the sale, acquisition, transfer, ownership, possession, storage, transportation or use of firearms...

Do a search for ORS Chapter 166, that's the section of law that applies to firearms. Chapters 166.170, 166.171 & 166.174 deal with who can regulate what. It couldn't be any clearer that the state legislature, and only the state legislature, is allowed to regulate firearms.

Helmke thinks anyone who owns a gun is a criminal. BTW, if police run your name they will see if you have a concealed carry permit. Therefore if you commit a crime, while being investigated, they will know if you have a concealed carry permit. To get a CCW permit in PA you are not allowed to have a record as a "habitual drunkard". I do not drink outside of my house, and even then rarely at all. I needed to give 2 non-family references, etc. etc. The system for getting a CCW permit is very thorough and those that say we can't be trusted because of lack of training, what about the marine at NIU who as shot and killed. You think a gun in her hand would have changed the outcome of that massacre?
