@ROOSNUTZ I did not weigh the fish. The weight is an estimate based on a similar fish that weighed 12.5 pounds and was only 29 inches long. The fish was caught in late season, and was very fat and healthy... near perfect form, color etc. There is another video showing it up much closer. Again estimated weight based on a 295 that was weighed from the same lake. May have only been 13 but 2 inches = 2 pounds on most fish of that species.
You need some thing sensitive at the tip. I was letting the lure drop on a count. Started at 8 and counted it down successively to 15. Was getting nibbles at 10 feet. Finally caught this Walleye and later on a perch, which was 8 inches. The largest any of the guides had ever seen. (They said) But with all the small perch in this lake there has to be some good perch in it somewhere.
I used the President and Medalist combos from Pflueger. 6 foot med action rod is perfect for boat and shore. The sensitivity is perfect for jigging. The President combo will run you about 80 dollars and the medalist around 130 dollars. If that is out of your price range pick up a ugly stick from shakespeare those are great poles I would recommend buying a separate reel(pflueger, diawa, which ever reel you prefer)
Straight out from the lodge on the grass bed near Green Island. We were fishing for Muskie at the time, and I was using a #5 Mepps cause it kept getting them to come to the boat, and I was getting some nice hits. I actually caught a 6 inch perch later. That too is one of the biggest anyone at the lodge had seen, but there must be some there because there are smaller ones.
My brother and I were just up in the upper mantiou we stayed at Gold Rock Lodge. We caught 2 monster walleyes 11 and 12 pounds 28 and 29 inches. I was just wondering if you stayed and green island because that looks like a green island boat?
wow!! nice one...we got one this weekend at union lake sarah in erskine mn. that was 25 1/2 inches and 4 1/2 lbs. Thats the biggest we caught. Congrats. I have yet to go to canada to fish but maybe one day.
hi nice walleye or what we call them out there pickeral. dont find this offensive but why do you americans come and fish our canadian lakes. this comment is NOT meant to be offensive in any manor. you guys have nice walleye to dont you. and your lunker bass.
Well, we come because we do not have fly in lakes in the lower 48, the Muskie are bigger, You have bigger pike, and we really do like you Canadians.. Especially your canadian beer and hospitality. PLUS, we like to support your economy. Pickerel here is a smaller version of a Pike. Same color but significantly smaller in warmer waters.
BUT our guide is a local and called it a Walleye??
some people do some people dont call them walleyes.... yea u got the chain pickeral eh. and yea our beer is good! anywase nice talking ot ya take care and seeya on the water!

31 inch walleye should weigh around 10-12 pounds... 13 would be a stretch... 14 seems like BS to me

Damn!! nice fish man, musta been fun catching that monster. What were you using for bait? I find frogs work really well in walleye infested water.

Yes, I LOVE Green Island Lodge. Folks there are great, and Vince is a hoot to fish with.
He is very understated.. Notice he says its a big ole Walleye, and shows no excitement at all to a near 14 pounder.. 31 inch Walleye
