  • check out newwe.info ! 10 long existing and well established eco-villages in Europa :)

  • Please update on how everyone is doing! I'm sure all of us are very interested. Thanks!

  • create and innovate self-sufficiancy

  • my ideal way of life

  • I would love to see more videos on how their place looks now! I am very interested in this way of life. Please let us know , Thanks!

  • I wish them well in this endeavor.

  • 4 years to make a decision about using a chain saw, man I hope you don't have to make a decision on something relly important.

  • boooooooooo! Just kiddin aroun :)

  • do you pay council tax still lol

  • every one does the magic stick is the best goverment i wish a country could be ran like that

  • @nathaliel99 - Thank you for sharing this video with us. I admire the idea of Alternative Living that this video presents. It's encouraging to learn about small communities of people who are doing what they can to live sustainably. I understand that they we're giving permission to live on the land based on conditions set up by the folks that own the part.

What a wonderful way to be able to practice Permaculture and Sustainability. Good stuff.

  • Enjoyed the video Nathalie. I often feel like escaping from the rat race, have done ever since high school. Like so many people though, it's taking that extra little step that hinders the decision choice. I would love to join you all, or even start a community just like yours, but getting enough of the right kind of people is a drawback that most would struggle to overcome. I wish you all well, though. Wish I had the guts to turn my back on consumerism and listen to the wind rather than the tv.

  • Outstanding. I admire them.

  • We need to move away from the capitalist system and live in balance with mother nature. but it is important to take technology with us and use it. we dont need to live like people 1000 years ago, that is not the idea. It is all about connecting with nature and live with love and compassion for one another. We are far more capable than most of us think.

  • You cheer for nuclear power plants when you are dying of radiation poisoning when they break down. If you don't believe it go to Chernobyl, or more recently to Japan. People lived just fine for thousands of years without all this extreme destruction for "resources". Merry Christmas.

  • In the bible God told Adam to dress and keep the garden, we have abandoned that with our industrial society. If we went back to an agricultural based society and developed our technology to support and maintain the earth as the purpose of our work we would do well I think. There are so many ways to do things without destruction, and one thing we should immediately abandon is nuclear power. I learned all it is used for is to heat water to run steam turbines. Good Job!

  • @timothywiesner A couple of points: In the bible it also says, "and man shall have dominance over the earth" which is probably why we think we own everything and everything on the planet is ours to take. You cannot "do things" without destruction. If you're cold and need a fire you have to destroy a tree! Nuclear power is used to run turbines, which in turn produce electricity which we'd be knackered without!

  • at 2.32 his hand is telling us that he is hungry xD

  • well done- love and respect to you all- the way its going here everyone is going to have to get back to the real world in nature- time to take care of the earth in every way

  • Where do I 'sign up'? xD

  • fuck off with that loud chainsaw. otherwise very inspiring.

  • Is that a gas chain saw I hear in the background?

  • Just add "Nikola Tesla's free energy" to this and all of us can do it!

  • Sustainability is a laudable goal, but I think it is hard to fight against human nature. It is our nature to develop the world around us. From the time we picked up the first stone tool, or sowed the first field, or turned stone into metal, or imagined the first mechanical device, it is our destiny to develop our world. I'm not sure how we will face our environmental challenges, but we will probably create and innovate, as we have always done.

  • @verno002 I think humanity needs to get beyond subjugating the environment for convenience, and learn to become in balance with nature. If we don't, we won't exist much longer.

  • @DesecrateConformity I agree with you...But you will not see this happen until you see at least two things. (1) The cultural and physical liberation of women worldwide...this will reduce birthrates to sustainable levels. (2) Global economic equilibrium...this will allow us all to make sacrifices together. Unfortunately, we are many decades away from this. Lets hope the earth can hold out long enough.

  • @verno002 I couldn't have said it better myself. Women in many less developed nations are forced to have children until they have a male, or 2 males. Also, they rarely use contraceptives, this leads to high fertility rates in these growing nations. Women need liberation. I think economic equality is also just as important. Putting economic decisions in the hands of the people doing the work, not corporate moguls, will help achieve this goal.

  • @verno002 I agree in some aspects of what you are saying, but also think of what if there was something for decades or even centuries now funneling idea's, shaping are way of thinking through culture, media, entertainment and so on. Is it really by are design alone that we are in this rot now or have we been just living a lie generation after generation. Something is definitely off, in today's status qua of what is normal or moral for that matter. One must ask themselves are we making are own dec

  • @woulfe42

Funneling ideas? Sure, it called diverse cultures. It's how humans manifest normalcy and it is constantly changing.

Is it really by design alone? Considering the fallibility of humans, Yes, I'd have to say it our design alone.

Live a lie? Nah, what we see is the very clumsy way humans learn and develop over time. From a cultural or psychological standpoint our ancestors weren't living a lie. We just have a different set of challenges, like any generation.

  • @verno002 I see what your saying, and by no way disagree with you. All i'm asking you is to look at the bigger picture. Are we clumsy, flawed, and destructive the answer is yes and yes but, ask yourself special in this and the last century has things been triggered in us to act more excessively then in the past? Are the elites bankers, corporations using man's primitive emotions against them. Impulses to buy, hate a certain group or nation etc... Check out Zeitgeist:moving forward on youtube

  • @woulfe42 I am very familiar with Zeitgeist: Moving Forward. "Addendum" also contains very good information. However, neither of these films provide a viable solution to our environmental challenges. It is easy to criticize a system and point out it's flaws. It is different to provide a practical method to achieve Utopia.

Are "they" preying upon our human vulnerabilities? Sure, but when people change, and the environment heals, we will hardly notice because it will be disguised by normalcy.

  • @verno002 Don't you also believe that all of a sudden this change's from consumerism to go green attitude, sort of came out artificial more then the people seeking it. Going back to my first comments where i mentioned that the elitist's and other interest groups across all sectors basically shape are thought and guide are conscious towards the way they want us to act or think. And i believe it might be happening with the movement as well. Hope i'm wrong cause all that means is that where being..

  • @woulfe42 Part 2 ...... shepherd around by those bastards. Which is nothing new by the way, you can see evidence even in the Egyptian writings depicting a pharaoh with a goat staff raised over masses of people. This groups and people have been among us for centuries, and we do seem to win in the end by over throwing and killing them. Only now is it so widespread throughout the world that it will be a challenge to do so unlike before. But people are waking up to this and many other facts.

  • @woulfe42 I think some people will always be manipulated and others will always remain aware. Social hierarchy seems rather natural. If you assign a task to a group, the more informed or more charismatic begin to "shepherd" everyone else. I don't always like the outcome of this, but it is human.

Win by killing them? As systems grow to such complexity that liberty can not be preserved, revolution is needed. However, during revolution everyone losses for a time. I hope we're not there yet.

  • @verno002 Yes i say killing them, although i know some will just flee and setup shop somewhere else sort of speak. Like what happened when king Philip of France first discovered of the templers and other societies plans to take over his kingdom just like they have done to Spain a few years back all in the name of the great crusades against the muslism horde. If you look now that's pretty much where we are again countries lossing there sovereignty and us gridlock in a religious war. Continued...

  • @woulfe42 The title might of changes but, the Author remains the same. As far as a hierarchy goes yes it seems to be a natural course even wolves, but cause what happens to the Alpha if he screws with the whole pack?? As far as a revolution goes, yeah it might change things for awhile then it reverts to some other b.s. system that they help setup. They alway's seem to co-op a revolution like that of Castro's revolution as soon as he went with the socialist way they left him alone. It's seems to.

  • @woulfe42 be designed in that way. Ask yourself this how is it that around the whole world it's either communism, democracy, or a mix of the two, and any one country that doesn't seem to have one of the 2 or 3 systems however you break them down seems to be a backward country that oppresses it's people, so they say. I think the American's, Brits and Russians are one of the most suppressed nation in the world and not the other way around. That's why where all either on drugs, alcohol, and depresse

  • @verno002 no, dont think so. people will ass rape the land until they cant eat off it anymore

  • @verno002 if you take away all of the conditioning and brainwashing that we are subjected to, there is no human nature other than to survive and live harmoniously within nature. If you are conscious of the fact that we need the earth, the earth does not need us, you will be less likely to harm it. We have been made to be slaves to our egos... Example: the isolated tribes of native peoples in the rain forests... How often do they feel compelled by their "human nature" to check their e-mail?

  • @verno002 didn´t we develop the world around us to live a good life?

self sufficiency is an other way to live a good happy life in tune with nature.

use your development ideas to develop into a sustainabal life style.

    May God bless u!

  • people still wander and eat the food that grows naturally! the world naturally provides as long as we just let it do what it does and dont ask for more than we need

  • People need to understand, the world as we knew it is changing. Things are running out. getting the maximum use out of whatever you have IS becoming the norm. We can not expect our governments to support us unless we give everything to them. We must be able to provide for ourselves. Living in a community, village, groups, or communes. We can trade, barter or pay for the things we need. BUT! we have to do it locally. We can not transport our goods all over the world and survive.

  • Thanks for your investigation.

Give it a few years. More people are getting on board with this idea. The industrial economy is not improving. Resources are dwindling.

The people who care about the environment will be on board first. Then people will do it out of necessity later.

  • They don't seem very happy.

  • i think its ruly grand good for you all

  • Keep on pushing ahead, and ignore all the sewer mouthed idiot mainstream dullards that are hopelessly trapped in the world assigned to them.they're all a bunch of pastey assed civilized softys, comfort junkies, leisure addicts whose only toughness comes by way of the mouth.I SHIT ON EM,WE ALL SHOULD!

  • @toobigaman You wouldn't happen to be a communist?

  • @EmperorOfMars Naa just another fella tired of seeing one too many of the Natives waddling about with asses so big you could put a zip codes on em,Carting themselves about in SUV's brandishing American and Don't Tread On Me flags along other patriotic paraphernalia that shows how much they support our mercenaries for capitalism...I'm a fella that sees way too many phoney tough people making way too much noise.mainly because they don't have the stuff to do what it takes to step through.

  • @toobigaman I can respect that. HAIL CAPITALISM!!!

  • I wonder how they're doing now?

growing food is easy! the only thing is meat, because for some animals you need grains for enough bone/meat ratio to make it worthwhile.

  • They still buy food though.....

  • 3:34 ... yeah thats why we see these numpties in the local Co-Op shop is it ? Another example of how to live on land where refused planning permission was ignored, dug their heels in and eventually the local authorities gave up. They squeek about thier rights, what about everyone else's rights, the right to say no to bunny huggers.

  • It is sad that she cannot see a future where creature comforts are less important. Western consumption will be the end of our world if we do not make change.

Personally if my govt would allow it I would be off grid, sadly they do not support independent living... they like their control!

  • we need some contained communities here in the states but sadly, the gov doesnt like that much. (waco TX, the freemen, etc) i say use modern stuff but take a large number of ppl, empty bank accounts and sell everything off and all move onto land - then start a self contained town that everyone owns. amish-like with some modern qualities.

  • To take 4 yrs on deciding to use a chainsaw, while using Solar Power

    seems some strange

  • @wayofthepath why?

  • @wayofthepath

Solar = free energy after the investment

chainsaw = noise, pollution and you get to pay for the energy..

I don't see why that would seem strange to you.

  • Does anyone have a job? And if not, why not?

  • @zuniga6412 Their job is to sustain their own life.

  • @hotsauceinyoureye I wonder if there kids go to school. One day there kids have to learn about going out in the world and finding a job. They can't live like hermits. What about health care? We tax payers shouldn't have to pay for there medical bills all because they refuse to work. It's ok to go green as long as they do it on there own land. But ya have to have a job in order to buy land. I don't think it's ok to be freeloaders.

  • @zuniga6412 touche. But consider the possibilities of them succeeding from the government, and providing their own medical services. Chances are slim this is how things work, i must admit. But there are many possibilities.

  • thanks for the video, i thank you all are doing a great job at living off the grid, , and for the outher people that dont understand keep you mouth quite, at least these people are not paying light bills, water trash cable and so on, my hat is off to you, regards,

  • You have rejected modern living but use a chainsaw, very up to date solar panels and an Aga? Hmm. Presumably you have access to the internet too. Why not admit to working as little as possible with the modern world? What happens if someone is seriously ill? Do you let them die? How can everyone live like this? They would cut all the trees in the world down very quickly.

  • @Pwecko I don't see how stating that these people have rejected modern society is somehow inaccurate. Just because they have rejected modern society doesn't mean they have rejected all modern devices or techniques. Society refers to people living together and their customs and "rules" if you will. They can have very different customs and rules and shared beliefs in their society as modern society and still use a chainsaw. You are confusing the terminology.

  • @jodee934 Perhaps you are right to an extent regarding my confusing the terminology. However, these people make a great show of rejecting most of the accepted comforts of modern life that almost all of us take for granted, like electricity and regular housing. That's why I suggested that they should say that they work or interact as little as possible with the modern world. They could live in a house if they wanted to. There are plenty of big, cheap houses on the market now.

  • And you are not prepared at all you fuckin' idiots ! You are in the flood zone ! Your ass is going to be underwater soon and you will finally get that bath you are in such great need of. Remember this posting when you see your world going under.

  • @romnsch13 Whoa somebody has a little bit of a god complex.

  • Just goes to show how apathetic kids are getting......., The end will come soon.

  • What a dump! Is it just me or what? Good god, I built my first cabin w/ recycled lumber and a chainsaw and drill and it ended up looking like a small chapel, it was stunning. I was dirt poor too. Here are a whole group of slob potheads that cant even make a simple structure without it looking like a homeless encampment ! and a white guy with dredloks? EWWWW.

  • I would do it in a heart beat.

  • Very Cool! Love it. would love to be a part of it.

  • now this is funny its not been more than 150 yrs ago when people thought is was strange to have running water and electric.and here we are into days time thinking your a lazy bump cause you live in the woods and do not have electricity.

  • Comment removed

  • There are so many of them search intentional community database.

  • I'd like to join them!

  • I like your accent =) Good report, too!

  • As a modern society we are now moving backwards due to a credit bubble so big the whole world went into depression, this is very disturbing to me. However, these people are courageous and strong, I would cry without my modern creature comfort and would probably die in a few minutes in the woods.

  • The first thing you hear is a chain saw!! Yeah, they're roughing it. Then plastic tarps. Wow. Back to the earth man. Of course, they are having more kids which is the real reason the environment is destroyed.

  • @jimisru more children destroys the environment. not coal/nuclear power/ economic policies. yeah mate. its not felling the rainforests that sustain the earth its children. do you even think about what u wrote before posting?

  • @hardflip2lateflip And why exactly do you cut down trees? To build more houses, so you can have more children, who in turn cut down even more trees, to build more houses, to have more kids. Until the trees grow scarce, then there is war, and more trees cut down, until nothing is left at all. Spay and Neuter your heterosexuals.

  • @jimisru We have an aging population. More children are imperative if we are to support the elderly. and gay people have kids too.

The answer to all our problems is to live within our means, and it looks like this little community have that figured out.

  • @Steeleperfect So it's okay for YOU to use chain saws and lumber, but when THEY do it it's bad? Also,YOU do not have an aging population. YOU live on a planet where the population increases at three additional people per second, which takes into account for deaths.

  • i live in a truck with another bunch of people they also have vehicles and we all move around in a small group.

being self sufficient on the road is not easy.garden plants aren't all that keen on travelling..but due to the ever present abundancy of consumerist goods obtaining essentials free is relatively easy...

doing supermarket skips...or shoplifting...siphoning diesel..and nicking solar pannels....bad karma but we at least target our misdeeds against large companies...

  • @metamaggot Your "misdeeds" don't hurt large companies, but those who don't steal, who have to pay extra because you're a thief. You're not self-sufficient, you're a parasite.

  • @Steeleperfect don't be jealous...it'll give you bad wrinkles...

  • very well made , got the to the point nicely !

  • sooo,.. you don`t need ID cards, don`t have to pay taxes, etc,...

WRONG! your goverment doesn`t allow you that! because they will arrest you because your then a criminal,...

    fake freedom!

  • @martinzwanenburg not at all.. thats statutory nonsense.. not CRIME.. crime is the breach of common law.. not the breach of statutes, statutes that YOU (the governed) have to agree apply to you before they have the force of law.. learn how the law system works and how it TRICKS YOU into thinking it actually has power above common law. they arent causing harm or loss to anyone, in fact compared to most of us, they are doing quite the opposite. so they are safer from the law from you. dick.

  • @martinzwanenburg ID cards are not legally required here. Britain is not a police state. Whenever some government tries to bring in ID cards, overwhelming public opposition prevents it.

  • globalization will happen. It already has really. This lifestyle is good in theory but they will probably become more and more segregated like the omish.

  • this is admirable and great but they don't have to live this crappy in order to be self sufficient and eco friendly...

  • great way of life, ignore the negitive comments why are these people watching this video? perhaps there x box is playing up

  • I would love to be involved with this email me samalmarr (@) yahoo.co.uk

  • I can't wait to get to the woods :-)

  • the accent makes me want to bash my face into my keyboard

  • i feel the future for such projects will be INEVITABLE... only thing is they won't be projects, they'll become the ONLY OPTION !

so lets face it, mankind never learns from its past mistakes man, NEVER ! ...we're all locked into a vicious cycle of POWER and GREED, see?

  • @sweetnlight37 Until the stormtroopers wade in and burn the thing down. They want us begging on concrete streets not being self sufficient. And Britain is so small with so little free space, we are living on a prison island.

  • okay now... when I see the girl talking story in front of all the wood that was cut for I'm sure many of use, do they plant and tend to more trees, giving back what they take. The use of human pooh for the garden, it would only work if they ALL ate foods that are 100% pure.

  • How do the women stay clean during their "time of the month"? I've heard that you could put a rag down there, and then wash as needed. But I'm not sure... Which makes me wonder about the women from way-back-when (like pilgrims and beyond)... I applaud what they are doing though. Kudos :)

  • HAHAHAHAHA with a chainsaw raging in the background!!!!! LOL

  • Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, hygiene products are essentials.

  • I truely respect what you guys are doing. I miss my gardening. We live in an old rv and we try to tread softly on this earth. We only move when our job must move which only happens every 3 months to 1 year apart. We have lived on a farm for a time but it always seems that there are a few who want everyone else to work while they lay back and watch as the supervisors. We beleive everyone should work as hard as all others. I have learned to build solar panels and wind turbans. Good Luck & be happy

  • wish i could do that

  • Hot shower, once a week?

    They must really smell.

  • @TheDAT573 Not really, taking a shower too often can make you smell worse believe it or not.

  • @foopibransfield really? never heard that one before.

  • @MinziTolero1

That's really sad. Either walk around holding your nose or take a cold shower.

There has to be a much better way.

  • @TheDAT573 LOL! I think you meant to at @RawBohemian. She replied to you. And I'll have you know I have daily showers.

  • @MinziTolero1

    In cold water??!!

Daily showers in cold water, are you on punishment or something?

  • @TheDAT573 No.. they just have a cold one more often. Just hot once a week. Didn't say they don't wash at all between then.

  • Not everyone can live in a park though. Some people would have to move to the third world in order to live like this. If someone really wants to live this way then just trade places with someone from Africa. There's no need to live here with constant police and military protection. No need to live near life-saving hospitals. Just drop some of your needs and you too can live out of a shack.

  • hmm maybe they should just build a separate power plant near a river and fill it up with hydro, solar and wind power im sure that would be enough to supply an abundance of power.. Im gona start my own community like this

  • I SUGGEST A DIFFERENT WAY ! COMING SOON . . .

  • how can the park that we own let smelly hippys live there .bollox pay tax or get no dole

  • very neat project

  • Thumbs up if you believe Permaculture is the answer to a majority of the problems in this world!

  • so in the end she says "im too much of a fat whore to give up my iPod and McDonalds" good video.. until the person who made it shows who she really is at the end... one of the people who is the problem

  • Comment removed

  • Id love to live like this !

  • How are they doing in this cold winter? Hope they are ok.

  • i like how this dumb bitch puts a negative final word in at the end.

  • 8.04 this guy does not look 29!

I would love to live in a community like this :)

  • What do they do about medical and education needs?

  • @DSXmachine probably go to a Doctor or School... Their not ferel they are efficient tramps.

  • With the lack of backwoods technology i see …. it must be a bunch of want-to- be hippies. No green house, no wood gasification, no solar heating. The list goes on and on. It doesn’t look like Alternative Living to me. Looks like a bunch of lazy-ass drugies

  • @TheZantigo1 They're trying. I wouldn't be too hard on them.

  • the people have never been free.the barrons and crown have always oppressed and stolen from the people

  • Nice one! I'd like to live in a place like that but oddly I don't dislike my job. I'm a mechanic. When I fix a bus or a truck and return it to service, I can point to it and know that I did something useful. I also like community and permaculture but I can't get much of that while I'm living in this condo.

  • hell ya it does i built a cabin in the middle of the woods aha

  • I've always thought about doing this. Lmao sounds awesome as shit! I love these people.

  • Thanks for sharing this, Nathalie.

I think it's great that there are people out in the world actively working towards self-sufficiency and sustainability in their lives.

  • What's so bad being self sufficient and live off-grid? And not relying only on what the mass infrastructure can offer to you. Not being one of the zombies or sheeple out there. This is great. Ok, yes, they use chainsaw, which needs gasoline, which they have to have money for, but that's only small part from their general lifestyle idea. Ever increasing costs for everything like the place you live in, is what sucks and what drives these people out of modern society. Good luck to off-grid people.

  • anarchism

  • @stett99 What about anarchism? It fucking rocks! lol

  • They should use the manure to generate methane for heating and power. They can still use it for fertilizer. People who are doing this find out that the manure works better as a fertilizer without the methane.

  • Great quality vid; well edited etc. The UK sucks: you can't even fart without getting planning permission; they robbed us of our land in the 1700s turning us all into wage slaves. Good luck to these people I say.

  • I want to live there with them.

  • oh i like ollie

  • Not sure you have 'rejected modern society'. Just another way of living 'within modern society'. Why not use a bow saw instead of using a chainsaw. Solar power, cost a lot and what is there real use. But at least you are al trying to create an alternative lifestyle so good luck in your search

  • A laptop??

  • Yeah, I can see how they've rejected modern society with Chain Saw's

  • wow i would love to live in a place like that. too bad im in the US

  • @5656onelove5656 Apparently its easier to live like this in the US, the UK has such harsh and strict planning laws that hardly any eco projects get planning permission, apart from the odd one or two.

  • All I'm saying is if u live in Britain everything is handed to you for FREE by the government anyway so why not enjoy your government secured leisure.

  • @mythic89 free? where are you at, fuck all is free in the UK.

  • In responce to Mythic89 people want to get of the grid be self supportive and get away from the rat race that 999.9.9 percent of us live everyday. I for one support them in there culture and way of thinking and good luck to them.

  • im sure they are putting there dol money to good use

  • Which way to the SHIRE Bilbo???

  • WTF is wrong with people ? I mean our ancestors strived fir thousands of years to produce a more confortable, safer and efficient life and now days a bunch of Hippies are wanting us to go back to living like it's the dark ages WTF I like all my modern advances in medicine and technology so u go fuck your tree hugging self.

  • Listen to yourself? I dont usually reply to people on Youtube but your replyn on this video warrants a reply. Your getting wound up and aggressive over a video about people living off the grid and being self sufficient. They are doing it because they want to live that way and not asking you to do it so get over yourself.

PS I am waiting for your foul mouthed resonse as it is the only way you know how to comminicate.

  • human faeces for soil ,, i remember when i was younger,, my granmother told me she and her family grew patotoes with animal faeces ,, but human ?? horrible :O

  • @bigsmile1994 Animal feces are better than our feces?

Thats just, your taboo mind speaking, but nature is nature and feces fertilize, be it from animals or humans(who are animals anyway)

My only recommendation for these village is to learn how to grow food with aquaponic systems, growing fresh produce and fish at the same time would be very helpful for a growing community like that.

  • These guys need to read some Austrian economics. I respect where they are coming from. I kind of embrace the philosophy. But the place looks like a dump.

  • 5,55 is the stick a spliff?

  • Gud video, i wanna come

  • true video

  • Good video, I can really see how it could work and would love to see it happen in Alberta!

  • @Revolutionisnow1 as sweet as that would be Alberta winters are no joke!

  • @Revolutionisnow1 It is true our winters are no joke, at minus fifty its hard to want to go out side to go to work but thankfully thats not all winter ussually minus 25-30 unless we get a chinook then it can get as warm as -1 or even 1! We are ready for it when spring comes!

  • Good video, thanks. If people lose their creature comforts anyway through economic loss, maybe this way of life will be a model. As an example, I've tried to start gardening since I only work part-time. Good luck to them.

  • Hey great video, information on alternative communities in the UK is hard to come by.

L
