Canadian Coast Guard doing flare exercises. They notify us when they are doing them because we get numerous calls reporting them and it ensures that we don't respond to them as a search and rescue case which would take a boat away when it could be needed for a real boater in trouble. The canisters from them sometimes wash up on shore a day or two after. They are silver and cylindrical if found call the local Coast Guard or PD to dispose of.
i've seen it too! just last night watching from st. catherines above toronto, missisauga, and sometimes hamilton. the lights would be tiny, and zoom back and forth, then get really bright as if it were flame. like REALLY bright. we thought it may have been helicopters trying to find someone, but they were changing direction seemingly too quick to be a helicopter. and then after a bit would go higher and start flashing red and white, and slow down in speed to look like a plane. pretty peculiar!!!
febuary 16 at 9 pm saw strange triangular object. it was moving in a odd pattern. the lights were very bright and did NOT flash like an airplane. a small blue like near the rear and a large reg light at the front. Post from Burlington, Ontario, Canada
Yep, Myself and many others have witnessed this strange multicolored twinkling light in the sky. I saw it July 2010 in King City just north of Toronto. After much research no explanation other than it was Jupiter but if you saw it you wouldnt think that! I dont think it was Jupiter...
hey, ive lived just off of lake ontario in a residential area, its about 1/4 kilometers to the lake, so very close, i havent seen wierd lights in the sky, i also work security at a facility which is about 300 feet away from the lake, i often do night patrols and if i see anything ill post something up on ur feed, also this passing new years, there were strange lights over oshawa canada, check it out on youtube.

I once saw something like this, but really high in the sky, among the stars, I was @ the coast in Belgium that night, watching the night-sky with my mom, and we saw a small white light as bright as all the other stars flying towards land, but tn we saw it move higher and higher up into dark space o.o until it was gone. first we thought it was the ISS, but the ISS goes faster and doesnt leave the 'road' it's folloing. it wasnt a falling star either, neither a plane. :3
That is a flare dropped from a C-130 for search and rescue... If you listen on a marine radio you will be able to hear them dropping them and the helo searching the water...
This video is accurate and not a fake! I'm 24 yrs old and have lived on lake Ontario my whole life about a quarter mile from the mouth of the Niagara river. When i was about 12 yrs old i was down the street on the lake with two friends. it was a stormy overcast night but there was no lightning. All three of us saw around 8 of those same exact orb of light but they were weaving in and out and around each other in no particular pattern. Ive been telling this story to my friends for years! Awesome!

I live right on lake ontario in canada. One night in the summer, I went out to the lake around midnight. I saw huge streams of red lights slowly pulsing in the middle of the lake, and gradually getting closer. Then about half way in, they started coming towards the shore faster. There was no planes around, in fact there was nothing around at all. It was really bizarre, and I still have no idea what it was.

this is simply a good old canadian burger huck. Whenever someone in the town of canada steals, he sentence them to the same number of hours of burger hucking as pounds of good stolen. Burger hucking somebody means that you put them on a raft out in lake ontario, then light burgers on fire an huck them at the guilty party.

also, i've seen the flashing red light(the plane) circling around the flares after they are dropped, and at the right angle, the super bright flare lights up the bottom of the plane and makes it quite visible. look for this to happen the next time you're watching.

sorry to burst bubbles but these really are Canadian flares. I live on the lake also and see these at least once a week. The reason why you always see them in the same area is because they go to the same area to practice these exercises. They drop super bright flares from a plane to practice search and rescue and they slowly fall into the lake.
hey i live on lake ontario and see a light like that every once and a while and its vey bright not very high up over the horizion of the lake and it kinda looks like a ball of fire and it will like go away for a few minutes and like dim out then it will come back
I have seen them when I was going to milton from Mississauga, it was WEIRD. the light, the red lights went in a circular motion, and they were in one place for a while then they disappeared. I have seen weird sighting a couple of times now, especially this summer.
You should know that above 10,000 ft., most of Lk. Ont. is restricted military airspace. Also, at the E. end, there is a wicked magnetic anomaly which messes with most compasses. I do not buy the Canadian flare explanation. I have seen UFos over this lake on 3 occasions. To make things worse, there is a fair bit of piracy that goes on there, too. It is an unsafe lake with quite a history of bizarre occurences. Worth looking into.

There have been reports of lights and objects like this over large bodies of water for over a thousand years. Lake Ontario is one of a few hot spots, I've noticed. October 30, 2007 in Rochester was sunny and around 70F. The warm Lake Ontario water appears to steam on cool October nights and any light reflected off the steaming lake looks strange. Also you claim to have seen it on other occasions. I wonder if those nights were around the time of the full moon too. I've never seen any particular UFO more than once. Do you think I might have better luck capturing a video like this if I waited until the next full Moon?

And those few who has been up close to it (I think as close as 50 meters) describe an intense light but they didn't feel any increase in the temperature. Very strange and very interesting. This is something which has been observed for decades in this valley. Don't know if what you have caught on tape is the same thing. But they sure got similarities.
This reminds me of a similar phenomenon in the valley Hessdalen here in Norway. Multiple lights of different shapes and sizes has appeared both up in the sky and also down on the ground. Researchers have come from other countries trying to figure out what it is. One norwegian scientist gave a lecture about it in my university (The Norwegian University og Science and Technology). Nobody has yet managed to explaine the phenomenon.
These are police search lights, there were 4 of them in the sky where i live, i thought it was a ufo too until i called the police lol. they said it was them using police search-lights!
I found your video and found it really interesting, if you pause at 1:54 there appears to a shape within the light and if this was a flare would it not be bright from the middle out? also try pausing at 2:40, that is no flare when you look at the image.

It was about UFO's with guests including former FAA administrators who said they were restained in reporting and investigating pilot sightings.
