  • I just love how he feels the urge to climb to the top of the tallest thing he could find. That's really not the best thing he could've done at the time.

  • fuck beauty it killed the beast

  • haha when i was little and watched movies that were black and white i used to think thats how it really looked in real life lol

  • Kong's movement is so messed up here lol

  • looks fake...and kongs like a robot...but pretty neat for its time tho

  • @MsGameGod no shit

  • @MsGameGod

in the first movie they had no computers so they created Kong like a stop motion figure!

  • Still makes me misty eyed.

  • that looks f***ed, good for its time though

  • wrong building

  • Comment removed

  • Ann is such a bitch in the original version....I mean she didn't care about Kong's death...

  • Lol when it cuts to the pilot and gunner looking at Kong and going "WTFOMG" the background of New York is still colorless haha

  • I wonder...the color looks as if this is actually how it was intended to be.

  • Twas beauty killed the beast..

  • I hope they sue Denham's ass off.

  • Very, very loosely

  • king kong

  • I actually bought a VHS tape at a yard sale distributed in 1989 of this version of King Kong last year. I couldn't believe it! It was in excellent condition and the tape was all rewound, so I picked it up. It was released by Turner, only he felt that the only way to release B&W films would be to permanently colorize the films and destroy the B&W prints. I watch it now and then, but the color isn't too good and it tarnishes the mood of the story. However, it's a damn cool collector's item!

  • King Kong looks so small >.<

  • This was 80's color...would like to see the color digitally restored by Legend Films

  • @voceval1 Now THAT would be interesting to see.

  • the twin towers exeped their is only one tower

  • fake and gay

  • @TheHackerTNT

    Oooh look, a 4Channer.

  • I think the remake's end is better....it made me cry then....this is classic, true, but I can't feel the feeling of Ann for Kong after everything he had done....poor Kong

  • dam even back then new york was still big. i can see central park in the back round.

  • personally to me at 2:24 he looks like "holy shit!!!!!!!"

  • @tjacoolvidsdotcom

he looks reeeeally like "Holy shit" xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • i have to admit, they did an incredible work coloring the movie, too bad they excluded the atmosphere

  • i don't want to start a flame war, but i do feel that this scene comes off much better in the 2005 remake. in that scene you feel truly sorry for the poor ape. plus ann in the newer version is shown to have sincere feelings of...erm...whatever toward kong. this ann does nothing but scream whenever she's around him.

  • @sirenskeeper13 Not really, the 2005 film was far, far to long and I always felt sorry for Kong in this scene, I prefer the Ann character to scream a lot, given the circumstances its more believable and makes Kong even more tragically misunderstood.

  • Well that didn't age well the music was awful and that was some of the worst acting ever.

  • actuly the white man real beast

  • KONG! WHERE ARE YOU?

  • classic

  • wow wat bad

  • Seeing the RED blood makes a great differences. It should be reclourized using to days much better techniques, and while their about it do something with the sound.

As the song says"Everything looks worse in Black & White".

  • @ludvan64 Nah. The black and white tone makes a great atmosphere to this film, as well as make it darker and more dramatic. If you want color, go watch the remake. The old one is fine as it is when it came out in 1933. Just my two cents.

  • @Thekidmakesmovies Yes but seeing the RED blood really got to me. Life is in colour not in B&W, albeit this is a work of fiction. My two Shekels.

  • @ludvan64 Well yeah, but I don't see how this is more lifelike and believable in color. Seriously, would a stop motion funny looking giant ape be on the empire state building? Haha.

  • @Thekidmakesmovies You mean it was NOT a real ape! Boy we cinema lovers have been taken for a ride for over 70 years. Legal action will follow. Image deception is a crime punishable by being stranded on the top of the Empire State with a scantly clad woman, who has not had it for over 70 years.

  • @ludvan64 What? Legal action will follow? I don't think you really understood what I meant... I just think the way it was back then... the black and white atmosphere makes everything all darker and scarier. If you want color... you have the new remake, as well as the crappy 1976 remake. Why change a masterpiece? I don't think everything looks worse in black and white. In fact it can make it better. Have you seen "Ed Wood" or "Eraserhead"? Man, if those films were in color they wouldn't be good.

  • @Thekidmakesmovies I'm making fun of this ridiculous conversation, and you're taking it seriously. Come on man it's just a load of crap. Ed Wood & Eraserhead, never heard of them. I've seen all the versions of King Kong, and they all made me laugh. Master piece. What is it Van Gogh? It's cinema designed for one reason only to make money.

  • @Thekidmakesmovies You are a child. I am sorry I thought I was in conversation with an adult. I'm not being flippant, I really do apologize.

  • @ludvan64 Haha, it's fine. It's just I saw the original as a kid, and really, the only king kong for me is the original, unaltered 1933 version.

  • @Thekidmakesmovies eraserhead? stephen lynch?

  • @Thekidmakesmovies eraserhead? david lynch?

  • I always feel sorry for Kong at the end. I mean he did nothing wrong.

  • @Jedite05 you mean "he meant no harm".

He killed a couple people, but he didn't mean to do anything wrong.

  • @Jedite05 apart from eating dozens of people and destroying cars, planes and buildings

  • @Jedite05 he destroyed a fucking city

  • @archounduser10 it wasn't his fault.

  • @Jedite05 its just a monkey dude why are you defending kong? he was evil and intended to throw the woman to her death after he had his way with her.

  • @bustaphatty Kong is not a monkey. The whole point of the film was that he was something more. You honestly don't get the meaning of the film. The director himself along with MANY fans have all agreed that Kong's character is tragic and that you ARE in fact supposed to feel sorry for him in the end. It was Denham who was the real villian.

  • @Jedite05 he kidnapped and raped a woman..

  • @bustaphatty he was just an animal that was kidnapped himself from his home. He was not human and doesn't have the same understanding as we do. Even though he was so big and strong, he must have been very scared in the city. You ARE supposed to feel sorry for Kong at the end. That's what the director intended. And he did not rape any woman in the film.

  • king kong looks like playdoh

  • he climbs empire state? he climbed the entire state of new york?...or did he climb the empire state BUILDING?

  • wen kongs on the floor wat part of his body is showing i cant make it out

  • @Psfreakman300 he is laying on his stomach

  • @Psfreakman300 that's his head

  • the colour takes away all the atmosphere of the film!

  • this movie must of had really good grafics

  • the 2005 ending made me cry :'(

  • Whats CG?

  • Sorry, but it is better in black and white.

  • This looks assy lol

  • @954754 quite dumb...

  • @nikocaulkingadhesive Yea that too

  • @954754 I meant your quite dumb, this is the best film of all time

  • @nikocaulkingadhesive I know i turned it around on ya :D still i dont like this movie.

  • Gojira is also a great film. It's an interesting commentary on nuclear destruction from people who actually experienced it over a decade ago. It's the Japanese equivlent to Kong.No I'm not saying it's a ripoff I'm saying that it was just as revolutionary for Japan as King Kong was for us.And both films coined two amazing films techniques. For Kong it was Stop Motion(I know Lost World was before it but this really coined the process) and with Gojira it was Suitmation.

  • This is my 2 year old's fave clip on Youtube of all time. Proof of how good it is. He calls the ape "Hink Honk.". FUNNY!

  • @mervynandropolis It's funny you bring this up! I have two six year old nephews who adore this movie! Not bad for a film made 77 years ago and in black and white. BRING ON THE BLU RAY 9/28/10. Kong Is King.

  • @lovefornylonfeet Are you saying kids won't enjoy a movie because it's old and in black and white?

  • @supermax1998 You missed the boat here! To me this movie is an iconic classic. My point was that young people are still impressed by this film. In a world where color film and CG seem to be all the buzz, this movie reigns at the top still to this day!!!

  • Only the greatest film of all time deserves the greatest finale of all time.

  • poor king kong......and i think the technique that time was really amazing!

  • my friends at high school think king kong the orignal is crap just because it's black and white and it's old. the orignal is classic oh well they are missing out

  • Brutal

  • does someone know where to watch godzilla 1954?? or can somone download it?

  • @Tmac1shady805 If you have Netflix you can watch both the American edit (which sucks IMO) and the original Japanese Gojira.

  • finally i found the colored version! thanks for posting it! all i need to do now is see if theres a colored version of the 1954 Godzilla movie. then i would have seen it all

  • @godzillaisking Why? Gojira's SFX succeed because of the B&W - it keeps the monster dark and out of sight. As for this clip it's interesting - but I also just think the color makes this film to happy looking. Just my opinion - and it doesn't really matter as there isn't color version of Gojira.

  • @iGLGred i just want to see the original suit in color

  • @godzillaisking That would be cool - unfortunately to make these kinds of color jobs they basically use photoshop techniques - meaning that something that was blue when filming could end up red. Try searching Godzilla fan sites for color pics of the suit. :)

  • @iGLGred will do

  • Charming..

  • classic .....

  • truly ..one of the gr8est in cinematic history

  • 1:34 - 1:37 his like saying "OH, F*CK YOU!"

  • MONKEY

  • king kong is friendly <3

  • I prefer the black and white version- and this Kong is the most human of all the Kongs.

  • rigth:-)

  • Aint that just like the military? They come in there with those planes and just start shooting, not even thinking that maybe just maybe they'd hit the girl with one of those bullets..Ya think???

CLASSIC movie making though/ The special effects of the day were great .

  • So, can someone please tell me how we started with this, and ended up seventy seven (I think) years later with the Banglar King Kong?

  • king kong ain't got shit on me

  • R.I.P Kong.

  • lol pause at

    2:25

  • You may need more biplanes.

  • kill the animal....is the american way

  • @jacksite2007 yes, kill this animal especially.

  • @jacksite2007 aint it the truth? take him away from his HOME, put him in chains, make a spectacle outta him to line your pockets, and then hunt him down as a public menace... sounds strangely familiar....

  • GUT SHUM TANI

  • i always pictured her wearing a blue dress; my life is a lie :/

  • i was like just shoot him in the dang neck it's not that hard hello!

  • the version of how they made king kong back then sucked. the version today is much better.

  • A q clasico

  • king kong epic fail

  • aerial shooting sure was pain in the ass before they invented helicopters!

  • if i didnt know that this releases in 1933 i would have thought that this was a 70's movie

  • It's fact

  • this was Hitler's favorite movie. seriously!

  • Godzilla is way better :)

  • King kong 2005 is the best of all the other King kong movies i usually like classic movies better but 2005 king kong was much better and very sad and yes i have seen all the other once.

  • No it's not

  • king kong was horrifying, every time there was a close up of his face, gave me the chills, so were the battle scenes. it's one of the greatest thrillers ever filmed. It was so tense, and the special effects using stop motion were groundbreaking, though "the lost world" was the first one to use it, this made it popular. Magnificent scoring is another great asset and so was the screenplay.

BTW it was better in black and white.

  • Saying this movie sucks because the fx? Seriously? what fx?! WHAT FX? Stop motion? Are you people aware that this was before movies were even filmed in color???!

  • Seeing the camera zoom in on a pissed-off, gigantic gorilla with machine guns roaring......epic classic......I watched this on TCM the other day.

  • ugh, some of the comments on here saying this movie is garbage because of the sfx are beyond dumb, CGI doesn't make a great movie, Characters, atmosphere and good story telling do, the effects in this were good for 1933

  • @KaydeyRai Effects in general don't make a good movie, stopmo included. The purpose of effects is to support the movie... unfortunately many movies have it backwards (it's not a modern issue, many good effects such as stopmo, Animatronics etc were used for bad movies).

  • ohhhhhhhhhh shit

  • i mention King Kong and others in The Celebrity Song.

  • @AFlyingBeagle127 wow dude, you are a true idiot to think CG is the answer to better movies. it's how it was made, how much effort they put into it, and how the story, and overall effect is on you. and these classic movies, really touch you more than any other new movie ever could. So you my sir, are an idiot for thinking CG is better.

  • funny xD

  • Ive seen this in black and white tons of times but never colorized, looks pretty good.

  • just he music is sucky

  • instant classic

  • i prefer the newer one this one looks rubbish

  • @ricojordanrai dude come on I haven't even seen this one And I know it's better The stop-motion By ray harryhausen is awesome true the effects aren't as good but this was the 30's Remember with out the original the Jackson one wouldn't even be here

  • @spideyman2099reviews The effects weren't made by Harryhausen, this is the movie that inspired Harryhausen.

  • sad

  • Woow our technology for animation today made this version of king kong look like shit

  • HIMYM S05E19 !!!!Perfect...

  • ha ha, man this is cheesy

  • how i met your mother turkey

  • i think this scene looks better in black and white the color steals from the emotion the film was trying to portray

  • HIMYM :)

  • @antisilenceTr

    yes 5x19 end :)

  • @antisilenceTr How I Met Your Mother? isnt that a tv show? that has nothing to do with king kong

  • @antisilenceTr WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THAT?

  • I have a question that surprisingly Mad mag touched on recently...why did they mess with the giant ape when they could have brought bacjk dinosaurs!!!!??? Every college science department would have wanted one, every zoo and every stage! At like 10 million each, they would have richer than Microsoft.

  • pretty good for this time could have had a better more realistic monkey doll

  • 3:35 lewis gun

  • 3:35 thats the lewis gun

  • Comment removed

  • why cant everyone accept that people make their own decisions? some people like this one, some people like the new one, IT DOESN'T MATTER, IT'S THEIR OWN OPINION!!!!!

  • I prefer this version (in B&W) to Jackson's. Don't get me wrong, I liked Jackson's film, it was very well done, like a homage to the original, from the opening credits to the costumes at the Broadway theatre. But Ilike the 1933 version because of the pacing. Jackson's pacing was so slow compared to Coopers. Yeah, the special effects are cool, and the emotion is there, but the movie was wearing thin 2 hours into it, with 1 more to go. Thats why I like the 1933 version.

  • lol they shoot 3,0000 times only 3 hit him funny

  • I like the rag doll effect at 5:00 to 5:10 lol

  • I personally found the remake far more exciting and engaging than the original. The remake created good characters, that I actually cared about, especially kong. something that old one didn't quite capture. And the old one was mostly Fray Wray screaming and swooning. And when people aren't screaming in terror the line delivery is overall quite dull, and matter-of-factly. I understand that it was amazing for its day. but just because something came first doesn't automatically make it better.

  • boring!!

  • what the fuck is wrong with you people!!!!...Peter Jackson's King Kong kicked ass!!!...i would rather watch that then this crap, ..this is so bad acting!..who here can honestly that they wasn't impressed by the new version!..it was fuckin groundbreaking in every way!!!..the story, the animation, the acting, the everything!..

  • Wow, you're a douche, this movie was the first of its kind, there was nothing to compare it to when it was released, which means its more groundbreaking than Peter Jackson ever could of achieved with his remake. I love the 2005 version, but you have to remeber, this was fucking 1933. So fuck you.

  • i don't care if it's made in 1933!..it's booring to watch now!!! 2005 version is better!...so stop calling me a fuckin douche, asshole!!..why so fuckin hostile?

  • Lol, you're on to talk. Maybe its your complete and utter disrespect for the art of filmmaking in general?

  • well, i don't agree with you, asshole!...you are the one who is saying that i'm the bad guy just because i don't like the old stuff!...disrespect for filmmaking my ass!

i'm sorry, but i just don't have the will and state of mind to watch it!!!

  • Christ, how old are you? Twelve? You're saying theres something wrong with people because they prefer the superior film? And yes, if you look into perspective, Jackson's Kong is inferior, on not only a technical level but a storytelling level as well. Once again, I love Jackon's kong, its one of my favourite movies of the past decade, but you really can't compare it to this masterpiece, maybe one day, when you grow up, IF you grow up, you'll be able to appreciate this for what it is.

  • now i'm fuckin tierd of talking too you asshole!!!!...u just don't get my point, and i don't really give a shit!..why the hell should i care about what you are saying, and why the hell should you, Mr high and mighty care about what i'm saying!!!..we both disagree with each other!..so just fuck off!..

  • Here I was thinking trolls LIKED getting fed.

  • well, run along then.

  • @UglyKidMetallica81

Kid, he got your point. You're not capable and in no condition to watch the original King Kong. But that's your deficit.

  • @KusanRoth jesus fuck, this shit again!!!

  • and i do appreciate the movie, but i just don't want to watch it OK?!

  • Boring...?

How the fuck can you say that to one of the greatest movies of all time?

Damn man, your fucking retarded, IT WAS 1933 they didn't have crap to work with.

And in 1933, these effects were state of the art.

Your fucking retarded, you know nothing about film making.

    Then what do you prefer...

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Old Star Wars Episodes 4-6, or 1-3?

If you pick the new ones, you know NOTHING abot film making.

  • @UACmarine2O8 thats the silliest comment i have ever read.. which one do you choose? iPhone or motorola dynaTAC 8000x? if you choose iPhone you know nothing about electronics..

  • @UACmarine2O8 man who cares about film making? Are you watching a movie to sort out how did they shoot the explosion scene or to enjoy the movie?

  • @Serhan911

    both

  • @Serhan911

You're missing the point! Bad film making translates into bad entertainment.

  • @UACmarine2O8

i have no idael who is u talking to bu i agree with u there is a reason after all this movie is fuckin classic.

but when it comes the star wars from what u say it sound like the new movies are sucks and i dont agree i like both trilogys 4-6 was great and so is 1-3

i just witch that in 1-3 they had more space battles :(

  • The original is by far the best. The 2006 version was a let down and the 1970's version was pathetic.
