  • Doug Hopkins was such an amazing song writer who never got the credit he really deserved.

  • awesome ...xD

  • thanks Doug!!

  • I wish I could go back 20 years to when I was 17 and wake-up one morning and start my life all over from there and never have a memory of the last 20 years. I wanna wake back up in 1992 and get myself ready for High School again.

  • Lets hear it for the 90s!!!

  • i found out and it is ok

    in time it all works

    we grow if so inclined

    hopefully hate will be benign

  • 90s music ROCKED!

  • I was recently in the VA/DC area for my 55th B-day with my daughter & friends. I live in MI. I played this on the juke-box. They ALL thought I was too cool for school, or for my age! Music has no age boundries!!! ROCK ON!!!!

  • Very cool jangle pop tune. LOVE the rickenbacker in this vid. ^_^

  • Great song! Does it remind anyone else of R.E.M.'s "The One I Love," though?

  • wow to much love for this space and time

  • Memories. The one type of entertainment that doesn't get old.

  • Was their lead guitarist still alive when they made this?

  • That`s a good question, I would like to know the answer to that also.

  • @DeathcoreDubstep he shot himself before they put this out, but he did write it-don't know if this is his playing featured here

  • This is one of those songs that remind me that not all of 90's alt. rock was crap.

  • This is the only band from the 90s that I still listen to.

  • Wow does this song remind me of high school. Yet another song that was in heavy rotation on 107.9 The End in Cleveland at that time. Great tune. I remember (sort of) seeing them along with the Spin Doctors and Cracker in concert at Blossom Music Center.

  • Geez, if I were back in high school back in the early 70's, and knew what I know now........

  • @TheMustangsally75 Wow, no kidding!! I would love to go back to that time!!! It was the best!! Guessing 75 might be your graduation date. Mine is 73! Loved it and if I knew what I know now.........wow!!!

  • @BlackSpyder73

Yeppers!!! I just had a B-Day January 6th. Double nickles!!! Born @ the right time. got enjoy all of the EXCELENT music from the 60's on up!!! rock on !!!

  • @TheMustangsally75 Doubles nickels too and mine is Feb 5!!!! Perfect for all the music in the 60s, the best 70s, music and young enough to still enjoy some of today's music!!! Happy Belated Birthday!! :)

  • @BlackSpyder73

I thank you very, very, very MUCH!!!

  • @TheMustangsally75 I think ppl our age all feel the same way!

  • Gin Blossoms should be considered for the halftime show of Super Bowl 49, which will be played in Glendale.

  • This is good ole 90's bar music right here.. Hot 90's women wearing jeans and playin pool lol miss those days

  • is it stupid to buy 2 albums on which this song is on? their album is out of print now and although I can burn the cd it doesn't feel the same as listening to the original...I was afraid of one of the cd's getting ruined LOL

  • @hugfrombug new miserable experience is the album this appeared on.

  • I drove around all fucking day getting Christmas presents and fighting traffic from Hell, My New Miserable Experience CD is so old only a few tracks on it even play so it was a day of Hey Jealousy, Found about you and Mrs. Rita, Looking back at my day the Gin Blossoms definitely got me through it. =]

  • the actual singer/songwriter killed himself before this album was released, that is not him in video. someone fucked his heart for sure though :(

  • @derekcassady The songwriter/guitarist killed himself. His name was Doug Hopkins Robin Wilson the singer in this video is the singer on the original recording.

  • @derekcassady yes thats doug in the video

  • Such a wonderfully sad song...

  • I find his voice to be amazingly sexy.

  • "You can skip this ad in 3..2..1...SKIP! Bring on the Gin Blossoms

  • This is a Gothically dark song that speaks volumes about how our "New World Government" has 'found out about us.' Those who are in the know, will be quite cognizant of that which I speak. So how do we find out about 'them?'

  • @jeff62rey ....what?

  • @jeff62rey Is is in no way Gothic search Peter Murphy now that is Goth.

  • Maybe i'm crazy but the lead singer looks like Bill Paxton to me.

  • @ILoveCoffey To me he looks like a mix of my two great loves, Matthew Gray Gubler and Michael Hutchence. But I can see the Bill Paxton thing too .

  • @ILoveCoffey it is Bill Paxton

  • penis!

  • @84351321684 Please, do you hear yourself? LOL Stop this homo attempt at freudian theology. Without a doubt I know you never seen pus*sy, and that you crave tootsie rolls in your mouth. Get a life you freudian loser, and get a woman while your at it. Your obviously gay, and probably a fat slob. My di*k is bigger than you, and entered many sexy white chicks. Haha! No you will never get a man to be with you loser. Stop desperately trying to sound smart. LOL My analysis, unlike yours MUST be true.

  • @84351321684 Actually my "long-cummings" in life have been down beautiful white girl's throats. I love white people for that. Like your ugly, loser ass ever gets pus*y. Conspiracy? If that's all it is to you then you are a stupid animal that lives on wiki. Anyone with a brain can see the Satanism now. Just lost monkeys like you can't see. I only made my comment because of the racist comments put before mine loser. Time for white devils to fall faggot. Time to get some sexy, white booty. LOSER!!!

  • its really fucked up, Hopkins was kicked out and dead before the two songs he wrote got the band famous

  • @fdny9682 No wonder the country went straight to heck when the 90s ended.

  • America was for Native Americans anyway, not Whites. You land stealing animals. Go back to filthy Europe. Damn Americans are stupid animals!

  • @111uminat1 If you want America back then take it!

  • The 90's. America's last White decade. Thank God!!!! You dirty racists are finally getting what you deserve. Can't take it huh?

  • @111uminat1 you are the racist,

  • fdny9682 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Best band from Arizona for sure.

  • I've had people tell me that all the Gin Blossoms' songs sound alike. If they all sound like this, I don't see the problem.

  • @vinkleman that's like saying all of Aston Martin's cars look the same. And that's a bad thing?

  • @vinkleman That`s F`d up every band has it`s own style and particular sound.

    Cheers and Merry Christmas :)

  • @vinkleman

I think that was Doug Hopkins style of music. You can even tell that the songs he didn't write, he put most of them to music. Don't get me wrong, the other members are excellent musicians as well, but trying to replace Doug Hopkins equates to John Lennon leaving the Beatles. The talent is still there, but you can't reproduce this exact style and sound any-longer.

  • Yup

  • i hate forced advertising

  • One of the greatest rock and roll songs in history. As Jesse has said, this song builds into the explosive melody naturally and with intense emotional power. Doug Hopkins displayed here a songwriting talent that transcends almost everything done in rock in the last 20 years. An absolute classic. Robin's vocals are absolutely brilliant.

  • @vertex10a Wow that was really well said and I agree 100%

  • still love this band

  • Love it, brings me back to my teens =) Gin Blossom was just one of those signature bands!

  • This song is sooooo good.

  • The 90s was the greatest in my eyes

  • They’ve always reminded me of modern hippies. This song reminds me of Fleetwood Mac. The music doesn’t make me think INXS, so I never really thought about it. I’ve always though the “mean tone” in Hey Jealousy, is one of the sweatest “mean” tones ever. This is the kind of music I sort of appreciated when it came out, but these days, I totally appreciate it. My mind is closed with to some music, but it is more open than it was 15 years ago. This is car, at night music.

  • Does he remind anybody else of a mix of Michael Hutchence and Matthew Gray Gubler?

  • I remember thinking of this song in Somalia when my fiance dumped me. I am glad it all happened now I have 2 great kids.

  • @jeffperry1134 were you with SOAR, Delta, Rangers?

  • @jeffperry1134 Hell Yeah, Rock On..............

  • Omg he looks so hot with long hair

  • .... did you love me only in my head ....

  • 80's baby here..............loved this song then..will love it forever..if U dont I seriously suggest u find about yourself..you may be tone deaf or your ears may have been damaged by the serious bull thats floating around..seek help

  • 90s music and my life would be nothing without: No Doubt, Gin Blossoms, Toad The Wet Sprocket, The Wallflowers, Blur, Creed, Semisonic, Fastball, Fatboy Slim, Placebo, Collective Soul, Tonic, Sugar Ray, Blues Travelers, Green Day, Vertical Horizon, Duncan Sheik, The Verve, Eels, The Cardigans, Filter, Eve 6, Third Eye Blind, The Flys, Silverchair, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Shawn Mullins, Del Amitri, Barenaked Ladies, Stone Temple Pilots...Damn, I am out of space...

  • @spacefreak09 THen make a second comment sillyhead! I was enjoying that comment!

  • @spacefreak09 Cool !Lots of good bands there !Thank for reminding me of some of them .Ten thumbs up to you!!

  • 21 people just found out their girlfriends are sluts.

  • @rlowerooks we all found out that at one point or another...its just a matter of how you take it or look at it, me personally i could care less and move on easily

  • too bad doug couldnt hold on to see what his band would become, he was a great songwriter and these guys wouldnt be anything if it wasnt for him.

  • As an old fart, the reason I fell in love with this song is that there is an actual melody and harmonics. A beautiful 'rock' song. Well done.

  • @tealeaf56 Well said, I agree 100%

  • love this band.

  • Love this song

  • G dr r

  • these guys are ghouls living off of the talent of a member they kicked to the curb and screwed out of his money instead of trying to get him help.

  • This song is a bit haunting, and resonates with me. It is about an innocent guy who thought he was in love for a summer, but later finds out the girl was a slut who was toying with him.

  • if u dont like this song ur a moron. drugs did ruin this band but they overcome anyone willing to put there whole life at risk to push down feelings untold. its a shame.. stay clean people.. i have screwed up for 8 yrs.. its not worth it. i figured that out after i did the damage

  • This song haunts me, creeping down the back hallway of my gothically painted mind. It speaks her; a black haired, mystical traveler named Alison. I know too much about her dark heart that lurks in shadows, scares the hell out a guy and won't let him leave. Remember 'Hotel California,' and that line, 'you can checkout anytime, but you can never leave?' That's Alison. I need to leave, but I can't. She's poison, she's power, she's poignant, and when I try to escape, she's everywhere.

  • @jeff62rey Wow, this is creepy, the ex stuck in my head from years ago that I can't get over is named Allison, also black haired. Reading your comment just now sent a chill thru me. May we both find the inner strength to move on with our lives my friend.

  • @uriahisonline Wow dude, like some parallel universe aye? Just spent an hour on the phone with HER. She was creeping on me last week, parked at school on her days off, just 'making sure I was alright.' I'm scared dude.

  • @jeff62rey Ahhh, she can't give over you, and in my version I can't get over her, lol. Cut off all contact with her and she'll go away eventually, especially once some other guy she likes starts showing her interest.

  • @uriahisonline And here's the perverse part that makes it not so easy. My version contains self doubts that maybe she is right. Maybe she's meant to have me. Maybe I should give in to her. I am hooked whenever we're sexually intimate. It's surreal and mystical, but then I get away from her for a while and I am abhorred by her. I am in this noman's land of doubt and uncertainty. It actually sounds easier for you my friend.

  • Favorite band all time.... 90s where great for rock

  • Fucking Classic.

  • THIS ONE'S FOR YOU CATHY!!!

  • the 90's. Americas last White decade

  • @fdny9682 You got that right. So much said in so few words.

  • @fdny9682 Very very well put

  • @fdny9682 aint that the truth!

  • @fdny9682 Last (white) decade? its not all about white people, music is music and now you just alot people not want to listen to this song because of that self centerd statement.

  • @fdny9682 you're right there was no hip-hop in the 90s... wait what?

  • @IDCFFSGTFO missing the point dick

  • @fdny9682 is the point that you're an asshole? That much came through perfectly clear.

  • @IDCFFSGTFO no just animals are more rampant now. But yes there was hip hop in the 90s

  • @fdny9682 After that comment you need a large HIGH FIVE!!!!!!!!

  • @fdny9682 no bueno

  • 90s.....80s....nuff said.

  • GOD, THIS TAKES ME BACK

  • The 90s were indeed a golden age of music. Besides the list above, just listen to Seal's first album, or Blind Melon, and you'll get the idea.

  • I feel other people think i have good taste in music when i play this

  • @TheJoshPenland OMG!!! HE SO DOES xD!

  • @TheJoshPenland I do!!

  • born 1967 gin blossoms rule

  • @P48ification Born in '69.I hear ya!

  • My girlfriend Jennie and I used to make out to this song in the late 90's. She lived in this creepy old farmhouse outside of Lansing, Michigan. We were students at MSU but I hated visiting her because her Dad was a creeper like this song describes. He hated me. I think he was really jealous of his 'little girl.' We would be on the couch in the gothic old house, trying to hold hands and kiss after 'Moms and Pops" had supposedly gone to bed. I would see him sitting on the stairs watching.

  • I know I should think it's creepy, but the line "Your boyfriend's over I watch your light go out" just makes me feel a bit heartbroken. Must be his voice.

  • I think when I was a kid I was not able to appreciate how sexy the singer apparently is.

  • 21. Wish I could be 11 again. Listening to this music is making me super sad. :(

  • @GrammatonCleric24 22 here :D I miss the 90s pretty hard.

  • @GrammatonCleric24 Same age as you, I keep feeling like I'm forgetting all kinds of songs from the 90s that could bring me good feelings

  • This is My favorite song of all Time

  • This whole album, was and it IS still is a piece of ART!

  • @butihum3 Im 19 and would give anything in the world to be 8 or 9 again. Life just needs a rewind and pause button.

  • robin wilson really poured heartfelt soul into doug hopkins lyrics. they were amazing. so sad. amazing band.

  • this song still rocks!!!

  • This music will be remebered because of it's classic sound with traditonal instruments and track overlays. This type of music could be released today and it would fit because it doesn't have the trendy synth or over production. It's basic easy to listen to pop music. It's great.

  • still a cool song...still a dorky turtleneck.

  • There's this romantic, mystical, haunting quality about this song. I probably get chills when I hear this because Kate and I were really into each other when this song came out.

  • @jeff62rey I can't find anything romantic or mystical about this song. Haunting and disturbing for sure. "Nights out in the school yard", "Whispers at the bus stop", They know your name, and they know what you're about". The song sounds more like the kind of chick you kick to the curb! The kind of slut you have to double wrap it with! Every dude on this planet has probably dated some bimbo that is described in this song! \m/

  • 19 people didn't find out about you...

  • sorry bro, got alittle emotional with the sick folks that take their lives. Bless them !!!!

  • It's sad.... whatever happened to good music like this?

  • "The love I thought I won you'd give for free." sounds like my whore ex.

  • One Headlight is another good old one..., Mr Jones and Me, Island In The Sun, Hold The Line... uh. that's just what comes to my head, lol.

  • @blkhyundaisonata Yeah Hold the line is a 1978 song from Toto.Mr Jones is the name of the song not Mr Jones and me

  • @baxtersave96 Island in the Sun is a 2001 song.

  • @TheMattathonShow Yes it is.Which is the point I was making. I was responding to someone talking about 90s songs.Out of the three that he mentioned only one was infact a 90s song. The other two a song from 1978 ans as you have pointed out a Island in the sun from 2001

  • @baxtersave96 He commited suicide like so many others & my younger bro back in "82 damn

  • @silvrfox1229 I assume you are refering to Doug Hopkins and I can't begin to imagine the pain of losing a brother like you did. With all due respect why are telling me this? I was merely correcting someone about 90's songs

  • This Song Should Have More Likes Then Views!

  • Oh hey let's not forget Sabrina the teenage witch.I always thought Mellisa Joan hart was hot.

  • @meglaw69 Well this song was out when Melissa Joan Hart was Clarissa Darling on Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All

    It was AWESOME

  • @tnawcwvictoria I realize that I was just kind of bringing up some 90s memories in response to some others here that have done the same.

  • @meglaw69 Not a problem, it's all good in the neighborhood

  • Needs more views. *Sigh* I may of not been a teen when I heard this song,I was really young under ten? but I love it. Real music with a real meaning behind it.

  • @Gibsonhb1 Corny or not, I liked it better than Saved by the Bell and WAY Better than The New Class LOL

But hey, to each our own

  • Comment removed

  • The Cranberries, Matchbox 20, Gin Blossoms, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Blues Traveler, The Black Crowes, Sublime, Dishwalla, No Doubt, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Incubus, 311, Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, Sugar Ray, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M., Cake, Green Day, Soundgarden, Radiohead, Oasis, The Offspring, Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age etc.

  • @Ninety9Soulz Ah um um today we have um um oh yeah Maroon 5 there pretty good right??? ....L.O.L just kidding dude I agree with you

  • @Ninety9Soulz please don't curse, this is a family website

  • @vomitedshit Oh shit, my bad.

  • @Ninety9Soulz most def

  • @Ninety9Soulz can't believe you put NO DOUBT on that list instead of "Toad the Wet Sprocket"

  • @hospitalbedpan1 I like them a lot too, I also left out 3eB and they're one of my favorite bands.

  • Amen!

  • @Ninety9Soulz It sure did!

Lots of good memories and lots of good tunes. Miss those days. (I'm 30 now, and I am really feeling time.)

  • @TheDeJureTour When you're 20 you wish you we're 10, when you're 30 you wish you we're 20, when you're 40 you wish you we're 30, you're always young, just enjoy life :)

  • @Ninety9Soulz Hell yeah! I'm 20 and I wish I was older to appreciate it even more. I guess YouTube will do...

  • @MPGaGa1991 20 Here too, but we are very fortunate to be young, definitely wouldn't want to be older lol but I know what you mean
