My vote for the greatest bowl game is the 1979 Sugar Bowl. #1 Penn State vs #2 Alabama. Alabama is up 14-7 late in the fourth quarter, and Penn State has the ball at the goal line. They run 4 plays, and are stopped all 4 times.
Texas v. USC > BSU v. Oklahoma. Why? Texas and USC were both undefeated with the national title on the line with the three best players in the country on the same field. However, both were amazing games. I would probably put the Fiesta Bowl #1 if Boise had been the first non AQ to win a BCS game, but they weren't, Utah beat Pitt a few years before.
Mark May is the worst, he lacks the ability to objectively look at what Boise does every year... him saying that Boise deserved to be ranked 9th that year after going 13-0 is ridiculous.

Nebraska/MIA was a bowl game about the favorite FAILING at the end to win it. BSU/OKL was about the underdog pulling it out. No way the Miami game should be ahead of the BSU game.
The thing people forget about the Boise v Oklahoma game is that Boise dominated the first 3 quarters. They were up 18 halfway through the 3rd, and 11 going into the 4th.
Only thing people remember are the trick plays, but I believe the Sooners scored with around 2min left to finally tie it. Then Boise St's Qb throws a pick 6 a few plays later, and it looks like OU was going to pull it off.
If this game was a disney movie I would'nt believe it. I mean c'mon, they run a hook and ladder to tie it, statue of liberty two-point conversion (which they did'nt need) in overtime, and the guy who scored the winning TD proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend and she accepts. David slays Goliath and the BCS stumbles to pick its jaw up from the floor.

OU intercepts and scores with a minute left and Boise State scores with less than 10 seconds left. Boise State scores, then goes for 2 points (either win or you lose). They fake a pass and rushes for the 2 and they get the 2 points. We all thought BSU would never beat OU because OU was favorited to win, but Boise beat them.

i think the boise/oklahoma game tops the rose bowl because most people expected a good, competitive game between texas and usc. i don't think anyone knew what to expect from an undefeated boise st. team going up against it's toughest competition thus far. and don't forget oklahoma had to come back from down 18 to take a 7 point lead. and after that was the lateral and the statue of liberty later, which will be remembered for a long time.
i am pretty torn between the debate about letting Boise play in the championship. I don't think its fair that they would get to play in the title game with their schedule because it is extremely easy, but they also are going undefeated. They have also shown that they can play tough teams and win. It would also give underdog teams in Non-BCS divisions motivation knowing that they could go to the title. Im going to change my stance on the debate and i would like to see Boise play in the title game

nahh I am a BSU fan, rabid fan, but I think that they are number 2 just because of the strength of schedule. But give BSU 2 years, if Kellen Moore doesn't get hurt and we have Austin Pettis we will be number 1 and I believe that by then we may even see a change in the bowls for a playoff so we can prove we are as good as we say we are.

Watching bowl games is an exercise in detachment, and only really exciting games are memorable to me. Watched both Boise/OU and TX/USC from start to finish. Both were great games. The underdog factor, plus pulling out three trick plays in crunch time to win the game, puts the Boise win at the top.
Texas-USC. The most hyped game ever, and the game itself was actually better than the hype. You can't top that. The setting, the buildup, the players, the teams, the comeback finish...this was the most perfect game ever. It was one of those things where is seemed destined to be great, and it was!

ESPN ranked the '05 Rose Bowl as the #1 bowl game of all time. Vince put on a Heisman-worthy show and led the underrated Longhorns to a victory with the kind of ending everyone dreams about. BSU's win over OU was a great moment in time, but the games were not on the same scale. In both cases the underdog took the game. In both cases an evil team suffered a glorious loss. However, only one game was a national championship. I watched both games from start to finish, and I have to give it to Texas.
The Boise state game was amazing, but Boise lead the entire game. It was a great finish but it wasnt as great as Texas Usc. That game was back and forth the entire way, both teams had been in the top two the entire year, and it was for a National Championship. I don't you how you can argue over which game is #1. That Boise/OU game wasn't even the most important game played on that field that week. Texas was so supposed to get killed in that USC game. Texas against the 2 time defending national champion. Plus the game was in Los Angeles.

The only reason people consider USC vs. TX #1 is because of the hype leading up to the game. Boise and Oklahoma had no hype because Boise was supposed to get destroyed...I think the David defeats Goliath story/game clearly tops the common two high powered teams winner take all game.

@DoTheDanwah um. The Rose Bowl is UCLA's stadium. USC plays at the Colosseum. Also, the Boise State vs. OU game was far better. OU intercepts and scores with a minute left and Boise State scores with less than 10 seconds left. Boise State scores, then goes for 2 points (either win or you lose). They fake a pass and rushes for the 2 and they get the 2 points. We all thought BSU would never beat OU because OU was favorited to win, but Boise beat them.

i think the boise/oklahoma game tops the rose bowl because most people expected a good, competitive game between texas and usc. i don't think anyone knew what to expect from an undefeated boise st. team going up against it's toughest competition thus far. and don't forget oklahoma had to come back from down 18 to take a 7 point lead. and after that was the lateral and the statue of liberty later, which will be remembered for a long time.

i am pretty torn between the debate about letting Boise play in the championship. I don't think its fair that they would get to play in the title game with their schedule because it is extremely easy, but they also are going undefeated. They have also shown that they can play tough teams and win. It would also give underdog teams in Non-BCS divisions motivation knowing that they could go to the title. Im going to change my stance on the debate and i would like to see Boise play in the title game

nahh I am a BSU fan, rabid fan, but I think that they are number 2 just because of the strength of schedule. But give BSU 2 years, if Kellen Moore doesn't get hurt and we have Austin Pettis we will be number 1 and I believe that by then we may even see a change in the bowls for a playoff so we can prove we are as good as we say we are.

Best bowl game of the last 25 years was the Boise St/ Oklahoma game. Big underdog Boise dominated the first half. Big 12 Oklahoma, with Adrian Peterson, started to chip away in the second half, after falling behind 28-10. It looked like Cinderella turned back into a pumpkin when OU went ahead on a pick-6 with a minute left. On 4th down, Boise runs the hook and ladder to force overtime. Then, the Statue of Liberty play for the two point conversion and the win! David beating Goliath trumps TX/USC.

Watching bowl games is an exercise in detachment, and only really exciting games are memorable to me. Watched both Boise/OU and TX/USC from start to finish. Both were great games. The underdog factor, plus pulling out three trick plays in crunch time to win the game, puts the Boise win at the top.

And just another thing... the Texas/USC had fireworks throughout, plenty of scoring, and a down to the wire finish... not to mention it was for the title. Boise/Oklahoma was only so-so until late in the game, and it wasn't for the title.

ESPN ranked the '05 Rose Bowl as the #1 bowl game of all time. Vince put on a Heisman-worthy show and led the underrated Longhorns to a victory with the kind of ending everyone dreams about. BSU's win over OU was a great moment in time, but the games were not on the same scale. In both cases the underdog took the game. In both cases an evil team suffered a glorious loss. However, only one game was a national championship. I watched both games from start to finish, and I have to give it to Texas.

Their talking about how Boise State and Ohio State werent supposed to win, so they should be ranked higher.......well Texas wasnt supposed to win either. They were playing against 2 heisman trophy winners and the all mighty USC who won 2 straight championships, trying to make it 3. It was also a home game for USC. Hook'em Horns

Dude you kidding me? The WAC is horrible and Boise's all time record in the WAC is some crazy number like 50-4. they NEED to replace WSU or UW in the Pac-10 to get some better bids.
