  • I went to this and found it one of the best concerts I'd ever gone to, even the orchestra were in tears! After many concerts, I'd never seen anything like it!

  • @joshopsho You are right but obviously there is a mistake, this was their first performance as a Symphony Orchestra evolving from their Youth Orchestra past. In another issue, there is no question these orchestra creates a great atmosphere around the music they play, they uplift spirits, when one goes back finds mistakes, splits and flufs along the performance but the feelings - which is the whole purpose of music playing - won't go away. Resurrection will overcome death. . .

  • WOAH......

  • At 0:53 to 0:57 who is the girl on second oboe?!?!

    I think I'm in love.

SERIOUSLY, anyone know who she is?!?!

  • I watched this on Saturday on BBC2, and then switched over to the start of the riots. The idiots who have been terrorizing London over the past few days could learn so much from these guys. Don't they just give you hope for humanity?

But I should also add that this really was an amazing performance. It's rare to see performers not quite able to hold the tears back at the end of an emotionally charged piece, but I felt it was quite forgivable here. Indeed I was in tears myself.

  • some guy wrote a review saying the brass had a bad day at the office, i dont know what concert he was at because it was absoloutley phenomenal!

  • @jimmydaferret Good performance yes, no doubt, but they are older than every other youth orchestra of any type, and rehearse weekly. There R 2 many trumpet splits across the whole performance, and inconsistent tuba tuning by any standard. Why search 4 a review if U have already made up your mind? An honest review with critique helps one appreciate a performance for what it is. Here; a GREAT performance. But to gush "BEST EVERR" when a Lucerne Recording is even on youtube; is just, well, naive?

  • @joshopsho Can I just point out there not a youth orchestra anymore. Therre the simon bolivar symphony orchestra. I watched this prom and it was stunning

  • @joshopsho if you were at the actualy performance i think i would accept your opinion but if you werent then you wouldnt appreciate how much of a different performance live it was compared to on tv

  • Don't talk about resurrection, I was in total heaven. This was the most magnificent performance i have ever heard. Even the Mezzo was in tears!!!! These young people can teach even the most hardened pros a thing or two about commitment to the music. It was absolutely stunning (cant think of any more superlatives)!!!!!

  • Unbelievably magnificent - I was very moved - such dedication to the Art - Dudamel is the 'dude' of the moment bringing all these wonderful young players together for this performance - they did him proud!! Congratulations - can't wait to watch it again on BBC2 tonight . . .

  • Clearly the greatest orchestra around at the moment!!

  • Heartstopping. Had me in tears. So wonderful to see young people involved in first rate music-making.

  • A simply magnificent performance!

  • furious double-bass humping at 0:30
