People, stereo cables still produce satisfactory sound. Look at my channel for the "how to connect xbox 360 through hdmi with surround sound (no adaptor) my video shows no expensive adaptor being used! :)
@erny916 Hey buddy, you should learn to speak and write English properly before you go bashing someone, I think i actually got dumber reading your post.
let me rephrase this for you so it actually makes literary sense,
"You are such an idiot, you have not indicated anything of any relevance and your video is stupid."
GOD, I Cant even remember being so grammatically challenged.
@thenerdyminecrafter if you brought the elite it should come with a cable called an audio adapter cable (search itnon google images) and you will still have enough room for the hdmi cable so the sound will come out of the tv and audio system
@thenerdyminecrafter Sorry, Im not sure how it works with an HDMI cable. I'll look for a video in the meantime. If you use the cord i have in the video maybe you could just not plug the ends into the tv and just use the optical port on that.
so i hooked up the optical video wire or whatever to the back of my sony surround sound but i cant find the dvd/ld input on the surround sound thing, also i get sound but no video???
@seangchurchill Okay, is it newer or older, bc mine is pretty old so i dont know about that. Does it have a remote or any source/input button? Video has to do with the component/HDMI cables not optical? Which one do you use? If you dont know check my video on hooking up an hdtv to your xbox.
@kimosis004 i got it figured thanks man its a relatively new setup and i ended up having to run my optical cable directly from my tv to my av system and then hook my 360 up to the tv via hdmi cable now everything is running HD1080P so if it doesnt work for some people try that! thanks again for the video and response
Hey can I still use my composite cables for my 360. Like if I get that optical cable use it for audio but use the yellow cable for video would that work? I have a surround system that I don't use but I don't have an HDTV.
Can you hook up an optical audio cable to the surround sound receiver and also hook up a HDMI cable from the xbox to the TV or would that create audio problems?
@NCorrigan2014 Check all the connections for the speakers; the speaker wire does not always stay in the ports on both ends(in speaker/ in the receiver). Otherwise, what kind of xbox do you have?
@manlykscorpa unfortunately yes, unless you have two optical digital ports on the receiver, then you could put one from the receiver to the tv and then the other from the receiver to the xbox
so I had a friend that had crysis and a surround sound looking speaker on top, the sounds that came out were like in a movie, the way the gun shot with BOOM BOOM BOOM.. yeah, all this sounds kiddy , but I was wondering, what's the best set to get at a good price or maybe headset for xbox?
@plrbear1989 Getting a good surround sound headset will help you play where as a ss system will have good movie watching sound. Sony, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, RCA, and Phillips are good name brands that are not too expensive. Sony and LG are usually the most expensive. Good headsets are Tritons, Astros (A40s are expensive, but popular in gaming) and Turtle Beaches( I have a $30 pair and they are great, but the $60 pair is around the ear vs on ear)
Hello, please could someone help me. I have a Panasonic 5.1 Surround sound system, it has no plug for the Optical digital wire. Will it work if i do any of these?
- Attach xbox to SS System with HDMI cable, then attach SS System to tv with scart?
or
- Use x box scart and plug some ends (red and white) into the tv, and the rest (green etc) into the SS System.
@mjhart123 Truthfully, I don't know if the 'circuit' of xbox, tv, and surround sound will work with out optical digital wire. I'm fairly sure the second option won't work. However, I think you can use the component wire to connect xbox to tv and hdmi to connect ss to xbox, but I'm not sure.
@kimosis004 Thanks. Since I posted this I returned my surround sound system and got one that i can attach an optical digital wire too. It now works :D
Well, I just turned 16 in June. So I can get a job. My parents buy me whatever I need but I think it's time for me to step up to the plate and buy my own stuff with money I earn. I'd say... Maybe $300. That's just a guess. Best Buy? I'll check and see what they have. I have one very close to me. But I'll check their website. Thanks dude. Oh, last question. If I have my desk/monitor setup on one wall, and my tv on the wall parallel to it, maybe 8 ft away, can I get surround sound from the tv too?
@MovieMakerZT Yeah im 15 and pay for most of my stuff TV, xbox games, and ipod. That depends on where you put the receiver. i take it the xbox and ASUS monitor are on you desk. 8ft isn't that far but you'd have to switch the off from plugging into the tv and ASUS monitor unless the receiver has two ports in which case you can get a long optical wire from tv to receiver if you put the receiver on your desk.
@MovieMakerZT Also if you want to put a speaker in each corner then you'll have to get the speaker wire to hook thoose up. i put it under my carpet along the edge and it looks fantastic, but it was a lot of work(3-4hrs). Anyway your welcome for any help.
So I am planning to by an ASUS gaming monitor. I am going to connect my Xbox 360 to it via HDMI, I am also planning to buy some good external computer speakers. What will I have to do to obtain 5.1 surround sound? Plug the speakers into the monitor? Or use the HDMI Audio adapter?
@MovieMakerZT are you going to have a computer hooked up to the monitor as well? Computer speakers usually have an audio jack to plug into a computer not an xbox. you need and optical digital wire, like in the video. it kinda just depends on what you want. the speakers should work if you plug them in the monitor, if that monitor has the right connection. check to see what kind of connections are needed for your speakers before you buy them. thanks for watching!
@kimosis004 I might connect my MacBook Pro via VGA. I'm just looking for some computer speakers, maybe a set of 4, and a subwoofer. And I want them to have a surround sound effect, so say there is something going on to the right, it comes mostly out of the right speaker. Know what I'm saying?
@MovieMakerZT yeah i know that what i have in my setup. if you want surround for both the macbook and xbox i think you have to plug them into the monitor however VGA doesn't carry sound(to my knowledge) but HDMI does. like you could see the desktop of ur mac but im not sure it would use the surround sound of the monitor
@kimosis004 I dont necessarily need it for the mac, I just really want it for the xbox. In order to obtain the surround sound, do I have to buy a actually surround sound setup? With a receiver?
@MovieMakerZT i think you will get the best quality from the setup with a receiver. with a receiver you gain much more control. you can find some good ones for pretty cheap. mine is an old used one from about 10yrs ago and it work great.
@MovieMakerZT yeah, what is your budget? sony is usually expensive, if u can afford it is great, so i recommend phillips, panasonic, for cheap and LG and samsung for medium price. bust buy has some good ones for 100-200. i saw a factory refurbished rca for 70.
@EXOTICxDUDE one with a large subwoofer or two subwoofers. A 50-watt sub is plenty, and make sure that the main unit has the option to adjust the levels if treble, mid, and bass for maximum bass.
hey, i orderd some logitech x540 5.1 speakers and i don't know if i can connect them to my tv so they still play 5.1 and not just 2.1. If you know how could you message me back thanks :)
@willstrawman123 yeah, they should connect and play all 5 speakers if they are all plugged into the base unit. to connect to your tv. you need to check and see if there is an optical digital port on both unit and tv.
@Megadeth6 make sure they are all connected to the right +and - ports in the back of the surround sound console. Also, the surround sound console might have a knob/switch from A,B,or A and B speakers so put that on A and B. Other wise you might need new speakers
@Megadeth6 hey i have a logitech z313 and it only hsa the cable to connect to like ipod computer mp3 and stuff and for audio but it wont work on my tv do i need some sort of cable
Hey thanks for the tips, easy as 1 2 3 4, it's not hard at all just did not know how to do it
