If you see Tony with almost any blue 7 Carvin guitar string guitar ( see Steve Vai and Tony's videos together). I painted it and shaped the wood on them while I worked there...it was such an honor to both work there and to get to do that :) Peace, Rock on Tony, love the new album, Art
Ok, let me take a minute to make amends for a couple of things. I didn't mean to turn this into a Vai bashing or to take the focus off of Tony's vid, besides Steve's probably a friend of Tony's! I just think Tony is a great musician and I like him better when he's playing his own music. To be fair, I have not listened to EVERYTHING Vai has done, and I appreciate his abilities, I'm just not crazy about most of what I have heard, not saying he sucks, just not my cup of tea. I'm wrapping it up...
@captainflamson: Well, you should listen to more of Vai before saying his "music" always sounds more like just plain noise to you. It's okay though. A lot of people just haven't really developed that musically mature intuition. I used to listen to Satch religiously and Vai was nothing special. Then I started listening to Vai and the guy is light years beyond Satch. He's genius. Unfortunately, it appears as though you have only heard some wanking. Take a good listen.
I'm not sorry for speaking the truth, at some point Vai's "music" always sounds more like just plain noise to me, you of course, are free to disagree. I am certain that there are many who will agree with me here. Making something technically complicated doesn't make music on it's own. Wierd can be beautiful (Satch!) or just awful (Vai!)
@captainflamson Wow, I strongly disagree with that...that's ok, it's your oppinion but Tender Surrender, For the Love of God, Whispering a Prayer, Blue Powder and so many more...I find them so musically beautiful and full of emotion. Vai is a genius. He writes some of the most creative artistic yet still listenable music I've ever heard. He's far from awful.
Soooo glad to see Tony still pushing music into new realms. It bothered me a bit to see him being behind Vai, I'm sure it was a good gig to have it's just that Tony's playing and compositional abilities far surpass those of Steve! I have been a fan of T Mac since I first heard Edge of Insanity as a 16 year old kid in 1985, any doubters just check Maximum Security! Far and away the most spectacular guitar album ever recorded, period. Violent Machine, Chromaticity, and more...nice work here T!!!
@IWinkedAtMyDad Musical value? the fuck are you talking about? are you supposed to make money or something? Value the music if you want, don't say it has no value, it means something to him for starters....dumbass, for winking at your dad...just what the fuck...
1. He can play everything he wants and everything is good
2, Im sure he wanted to recreate a Planet X CD but with his own style
3. And let me tell you this dude can't be compared to Morelo LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL
4. Hes the greatest player in the world and for me hes better than VAI ....
5. And w8 the new CD with Aquiles Priester ( the Octopus Drummer ) and after you could talk but this dude has already make his proof in the guitars world.
@NYTNinAmerica actually i have several demos that i plan to release in a month so you can check it out :) i love tony but on his last record he just uses boring scales and tapping arpeggios .. he should have concentrated more on melody
2.3.2012 in Krakow Poland with Agent Cooper, Disperse amazing show!!!!! Thank Tony and all performers for great show.
