I say: "thank you rich guy for risking your house, savings, future earnings, marriage and all your free time to build a business that employs others and paves the roads."
You are the American dream come true.
Why would anybody want to trade this for a quasi European welfare state?
MIchale Steele is fine with redictributing the wealth as long as it gets redictributed to the big corporations and trust fund babies who pay his salary.
I have yet to see one of these rich scum bags in Congress pushing for redistribution of wealth to open their checking account to the tax payers or to return their ill gotten gains to the treasury including their fearful leader the commander in speech the biggest BS'er in modern history Obama and Al Bore. the are all full of bovine dung and should be sent to GITMO water boarding park for life until they admit their lies and scams then shipped to the north pole to feed polar bears
what happens if you give all those rich people big tax cuts to use to create new jobs and new companies and they don't? should they still get tax breaks? NO!!!! funny how millionaires are telling the middle class that millionaires shouldnt be taxed more than everyone else
Conservative Thought: REDISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH? DOES THAT MEAN YA'LL ARE GONNA TAKE MY MIDDLE CLASS WEALTH AND GIVE IT TO THE POOR?
Answer: NO! It's taxing the UPPER CLASS individual wealth (the insane, 500K+ a year wealth) and spreading it around to the rest, including the middle class!
Lol! "Why would he care"? Really, Sean? You don't think the banking execs had even the slighest hand in this crisis?? Oh, come on! Even I realize now that that's true. Sure, there were some bad gov't policies, but the bankers aren't off the hook. If bad gov't policies give rich, greedy execs incentive to act reckless, who's REALLY at fault? The gov't that enabled them or the people who would've eventually acted that way sooner or later?
anyone studying economics can answer this question in first semester, luxury goods have a much higher profit margin, less labour is required and thus created per dollar spent
second: the saving rate of rich people is much higher, less money gets back into the economy
third: luxury usually involves speculative articles such as real estate where little work is created
econ. there is just no doubt about that well distributed wealth is much more healthy than concentrated superwealth
I disagree completely on your second point. Not everything the rich buy is a luxury item. The rich do not save their money under their mattress or in a box buried in the backyard. They save their money in banks, credit unions and etc. That gives the banks and credit unions money to loan to people to buy homes, cars, make home repairs, start businesses and etc. All those loans provide employment. Taking money away from the rich and giving it to people who do nothing to earn it is theft.
savings rate refers to money not invested, and the casino market is a dozen times the size of the real market, there is no lack money!
do you think a manager could do the work of 500 builders? why should he "earn" enough to make them work? it is a benefit made possible by our system, a system we all contribute to, wanting to benefit from this system without paying taxes for it - this is theft
@MISSBEBEBLUE It's the progressives who are proponents of trickle-down economics. They support giving money to the government and hope it trickles down to the people who need it the most. When you give money to the government, it gets divided up for political reasons. They're more concerned with getting re-elected than helping people.
Anyway, we should be making it easier for poor people to enter the marketplace. Capitalism is good for getting people out of poverty.
@MooseOfReason trickle down economics, known as Reaganomics or supply-side economics, refer to the policy of providing tax cuts or other benefits to businesses in the belief that this would indirectly trickle down to the broad population. History proved that this did not happen.......after paying millions of millions in corporate bonuses and salaries there is never enough money left to trickle down......get it. Economics 101.
exactly, and what was the w bush era if not a final definitive field test on trickle down economics, he started his term with the biggest tax cuts afaik in history - all for the rich
"trickledown" is the final victory call of the rich in class warfare, bushs tax cuts, obamas wallstreet bailout - the money nobility has won and is celebrating
when the government gives money to the poor they will enter the marketplace, as consumers, and subsequently labour will be required, its called investment aka. stimulus
research has shown that the best stimulus is giving to the lower incomes since they put all of it back into the economy, among worst returns on the dollar brings military spending and giving to the rich, the business party advocates both
The more Steele speaks and acts, the more he reminds me of Michael Scott from The Office. The Republican party is Dunder-Mifflin, he is their hapless foot soldier. He's not very competent and he constantly puts his foot in his mouth, but he's the best they've got.
We're a consumer based economy. If common people can't buy durable goods and the nation's economy falls! Trickle down doesn't work. How about a fair tax? Tax the rich as much as the middle class? How about that?
If rich people were spending their money in order to create jobs for the middle and working class, why is it then that the gap between poor and rich people keeps widening, Mr. Steele? Why is it that rich people get richer and richer and richer at an accelerating rate but the middle class salaries have virtually stayed the same for decades now? Is it maybe because rich people tend to cling on to their money and that they don't spend the money for the economy and you know it, Mr Steele?
IS IT TIME?! Go to USRevolution2 (dot com) and get the flag of the Second American Revolution. They're made in Texas and look exactly like Betsy Ross' flag, but with a Roman numeral "II" in the center of the 13 stars. They make great gifts for family, friends and recovering Liberals.
GQ: Well, would you have this job if you were white?
Steele: "would I have this job if I were white? [long pause] The answer to that is I don"t know. I don"t know. That"s a very good question. And it says a lot about, I think, where the party is right now that I can"t answer it."
You would have to have the same grasp on reality as soap suds to believe Reaganomics / trickle down/ voodoo economics works for anyone but the top 2%. Hannity kisses Sarahs ass-- while she raised taxes on the middle class and expanded government as Mayor and Governor. Sarah increased taxes on big oil while redistributing the wealth among AK residents- if that's not socialism nothing is.
Hell, Reagen raised taxes on the middle class 8 times.
Facts much like science scare the hell out of conservatives-- so they just make shit up. The majority of the base is SO stupid they believe humans inhabited the earth with dinosaurs.
The others think scientist are out hiding bones for fake discoveries. As some left-wing collaboration to indoctrinate children. Conservatives are malcontents that would vote for a frying pan if it had a Fox news sticker on it.
toribaltimore, cotton money? You are referreing to slavery, correct? If so, you managed to sound more stupid than Hannity AND Steele.. not small accomplishment. more stupid than Michael Steele.. think about that for a moment!
Hannity starts right off by valuing the rich over the middle class who are the ones who have been crippled by deregulation of those fat cats who destroyed the economy.
I for one have no problem with THAT agenda. We've got a tick-fat upper 5 or so % in this country, who'd I'd be THRILLED to see taxed up to and past the brink of "going Galt". Haul ass.
but notice: you don't hear that "Galt's gulch" shit anymore like you did in early '09, do you, from these tea party assholes?
Know why?
Because US elites know perfectly well that Obama's no Evo Morales-style fighter for the underclasses.
Yes! Vote republican! Defend the rich! Do more of the same! Banks are good! Laws are bad! The rich are suffering, the middle class is STEALING from them! Vote republican! Doesn't Sean Hannity look clean cut in this clip? He does, so vote republican. Protect the rich! Arrest the middle class for THEFT! The middle class & lower class are WORTHLESS! Throw them out of the country! Execute them! Sarah Palin/Glenn Beck 2012!
It is also true, and more significant, because there are more less wealthy people, that if there is less opportunity for the lower classes to improve their lot in life, by securing loans, buying houses at affordable rates, health care that dosent bankrupt them, quality education, that this will stall our economy, and then watch other countries pass us by
so we should beholden to the rich, bow and kiss their ass? They are rich, most of them, because of the work of the majority of us. It is true to say that if the wealthy dont spend their money, our economy slows.
Rich guy makes a million$.
