  • I have a copy of the Lady Fantasy demo, with this on it, madcaps embrace and institution waltz. Bought it from a record fair in George street assembly rooms in Edinburgh in 1984. Can't sell that, it's worth a small fortune.

  • this version is also very good

  • Any chance to get the lyrics of this great song? Some english speaker here?

  • In some way this version is better than The Web: it's more "seventy".

  • After hard work i find demos with "original lineup" on internet, and it´s very sad this lineup never come out with a full studio album :-(.

  • It was actually called 'Margaret gets her oats' . I don't know if there is a version about. The only studio tape was recorded at The Enid's studio in Suffolk but I think this is it!

  • There is another song with Doug Irvine/marillion: Scotts poridge. I hope someone can put out it on You Tube

  • are there any proper studio recordings under Doug Irvine's name?

  • This is perhaps my favourite Marillion song. I played this till the tape wore out.

  • I rather like this version actually!

  • Please can someone put out Lady Fantasy on You Tube! I have a strange feeling there is material for a full record with Irvine/Jelliman/Pointer/Rothery somewhere.

  • @mrmarillionelo

Ok, i upload maybe tomorrow Lady Fantasy. No problem my friend.

  • Dougy is also playing bass and Brian Jelliman is on keyboards.....good times!

  • I am amazed - there are not many people about who had access to these songs. It is great to hear them again.

  • Now, start criticizing Doug Irvine, just because they sound fucking brilliant, back-then, Fish-then, Hogarth-now, Marillion-eternally!!!

Stop the fucking battle Fish/Hogarth now!!! Fight for life, fight for MARILLION!!!

  • Interesting. I mean, the music and lyrics on The Web fit together so well, and yet the music was already pretty much done before Fish even joined!

  • Yes agree, what come this demo from?

    There is another demo called

"Lady Fantasy" from this era, i wonder how that demo sounds?

  • @mrmarillionelo They are all available for download.

  • How on earth do people get hold of recordings like this one? Do they simply steal the tapes?
