@cstoczyn Lucy van Pelt could be pretty NASTY in the CHARLIE BROWN tv specials and in Peanuts comic strips. But not all the time these commercials prove it. She's really tough, but not a complete bitch. She did have her good side.
These commercials were created for the same baking company [Interstate Brands], who marketed their bread under several names in different parts of the country {the "Butternut" version of the first ad, in black and white, can also be found on YouTube}.
those old peanuts commericals used to be mrs. karl's bread before butternut and millbrook, and the prince of sandwiches was a mrs karl's bread commerical.
"Fresh, hale, and hearty...!" Who knew I'd EVER see these again? As a fanatic bread-baker living a continent away from the West, I doubt I'll ever buy Weber's Bread again, but All Hail the Prince of Sandwiches! (That was another Weber's ad.)
I remember these commercials fondly from my childhood. Butternut/Webber bread wasn't carried in our home state of Florida....but these spots were a treat when watching TV at my grandparents's house in Paducah, KY!! The last two ads also feature the best Lucy voice EVER, Pamela Ferdin!!
Glad you enjoyed the commercials, but I couldn't STAND listening to Pamela Ferdin!! H-A-T-E-D her annoying voice (to my ear)!! Her voice isn't as bad as listening to that Drew Barrymore, but it comes close...
I'm looking for the commercial where linus says:
The center of the loaf is sweet, the golden crust divine.
Share me a crust, a crumb and be my friend forever.
But for simple crusts of bread my lamp burns low,
And all is darkness
was that for weber's?

I'm amazed that after the Weber's Bread commercial that Charlie Brown's kid sister didn't run off with her "Sweet Babboo."

@Dachshund Funny she doesn't do that and force him to go down the slide too!

Pamelyn Ferdin was the voice of Lucy in the last two commercials. These breads must be from a different part of the country.

Um....isn't the adult narrative voice in the Weber's advert supposed to be like a 'muted trumpet "Wah-Wa-Waah" ' kinda sound? LOL!
I *do* remember, *quite* fondlyu, "Fresh, hale and hearty BUTTERNUT bread"..
And it's *so* hard to fathom that it's verging on 10 years (as of 20 February, 2010) that the Big Guy (Schulz) left us all.
And J.C. Melendez is gone, too...so this is rather timely and leaves a lump in my throat, m8.
Tnanx fer these, eh?
