I KNOW HOW TO FIX: Step 1: Take your hard drive out. Step 2: Turn the xbox 360 up on its side. Step 3: Turn the xbox on, wait for the RROD to come up. Step 4: Turn the xbox off and bang on the LEFT side of the xbox 3 times. Step 5: Turn it on, It will start up like it like new, then wile its still on, pop your hard drive back in your xbox. Most new consoles being sold dont have the problem anymore, but thats only if you see a blue chip when you open your disk drive. The industry standard is 3-5% dead within two years if I recall. PS3 has been reported to be less than 1%. That number is bound to increase at some point as units get clogged with dust.

There are always bad ones made, but most that do die seem to do so from their lasers, or botched firmware updates.
