  • Didn't know these guys did some of the mac ads. on a different note, why are people still arguing about which is better? they're both computers. they both do things differently. they both have carefully thought about functions. they both use marketing ideas to boost their sales. why do we still care?

  • @Rora989 because mac users are pretentious cunts using software which is at best equivalent to the competition. They need to be knocked down a peg or two.

  • awwwwww poor PC

  • It would have been extra funny if PC turned to Entourage (Entourage was an email program in all Office for Mac until they released Outlook for Mac, it was represented with a purple E and was no on Windows.) and asked "Who are you?".

  • Right, so because Microsoft Office works on both a Mac and a PC they're all on the Mac side?

  • onenote is missing

  • Comment removed

  • ironic as it is, only pc fanboys watch mac adverts

  • Microsoft. Bi-winning...

  • @Kulkieeeee

Macs can run windows so they can run windows games aswell

  • Where's Publisher?

  • There are probably disproportionately more great British sitcoms than American, but that could be because Americans are too busy making everything else. Cut us some slack!

  • @booyalab Don't take it rudely, but there are a lot more Americans than British. ;p Surely there would be more American sitcoms that are decent if that were true.

  • @Benny5421 There are more Americans than British? No crap. Hence, "disproportionately". I can easily think of as many funny tv shows from the US as British, but one could still argue that Britain has a greater proportion of their writing talent making tv. Whereas in the US it's screenplays that people want to write.

  • Mac: Hello im a mac

    PC: And im a PC

Mac: So what are you up to PC?

PC: oh not much, just playing some games

    Mac: Oh really? what ones?

PC: oh you know... all of em... owned.

  • whats was the matter with macs office programs then? humm mabye all that shite that comes with macs isnt so good then?

  • @njipods I imagine they are just trying not to put potential customers off who are used to using office. i can tell you don't have a business brain.

  • Office:mac is not Microsoft Office by any stretch of the imagination, I use both, and I feel hat Office:mac is just Microsoft making some similar programs for Mac and branding them in such a way as to make them appeal to users who are familiar with Office already.

Yes, Macs have Office, sort of, but where's Access, InfoPath, Sharepoint, Publisher and OneNote? On a PC... they didn't even have proper Outlook when this was made, they had 'Entourage'...

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there still microsoft office for windows?

  • Michael Webb does not make me want to get a Mac at all.

  • british humor is terrible

  • @tdwplover22 at least we can take the piss out of are selfs and make are comedy different every time. search mock the week then you will know true comedy

  • @DorcomeDeepDean Also the Mighty Boosh and Peep Show :)

  • @wotsitmeetsmarmite yeah, see this guy knows true comedy! :)

  • @tdwplover22 what the fuck are you talking about, english comedys are by far the best in the world, sure there is shit stuff, but no one in america could or has ever created something as brilliant as say the office or the inbetweeners, just look at the american version of the office, while good, its completely unrealistic and could never create the completetely real atmosphere yet still hilarious humour of the english version, your either stupid or ignorant

  • @tdwplover22 I find that (the majority of) US humour is far too in-your-face and blatantly farcical, that it almost feels like a parody of itself... 'British humour' is more dry, subtle and clever, yet can still be brilliantly farcical and slapstick-ish when it needs to be. Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Father Ted (though strictly southern Irish) could never be americanised, and rightly so. I mean, look what happened to the Office, and the IT crowd when America tried their hand at them...

  • @tdwplover22 this ad is the same in the us as it is in the uk, just different people do the acting, and probably all of the ones, and US humor is better?

  • Why are all the office reps dressed like fags? Is it a Mac thing?

  • Office has been on Mac OS longer than windows has existed

  • Why doesn't PC have four guys behind him as well? It makes it looks like Mac stole Microsoft Office from him.

  • "Awkard..."

  • Adobe is far way better on a Mac.

  • @Lahm78 Adobe is evil everywhere. EVERYWHERE! they charge so freaking much god DAMN it. photoshop is the only real program that is the best of its class and... well its JAVA for goodness sake. and its exacly the same on a PC. its in JAVA. JAVA.

  • @Lahm78 Which adobe, Java is exactly the same, although I do agree photoshop is better on mac

  • they brag about running office, but they have to realize Office for Mac is for mac cus MS MADE a mac version. they didn't have to

  • Office on Mac is so hard to use...

  • @0121ryanh117 yeah, I use iWork, less powerful, but easier

  • @puppyrootbeer I find it pretty much the same

  • @puppyrootbeer Also also much crappier.

  • lol "we can run our rivals software that is much better than ours so we must be better!"

  • I personally prefer PC just cause of past experience with 3 different attempts at using apple computers over the course of my life, but I have to say that these UK commercials are much better than the ones in the US. Thanks for posting.

  • They are the same but slightly different

  • macs shouldnt run microsoft, hell even adobe programs

  • @halosparten3 they can keep the overpriced Java pieces of trite those adobe fiends :P

  • Nice, mac has stooped to the level of trying to use microsofts own programming against them...

  • @Nmal015 Did you know they overprice Office if you package it with a Mac on their store?

  • @Nmal015 why not? Bill gates used all of steve jobs ideas to kick off his career. i think this was steve jobs revenge.

  • @06mgibson They both nicked their ideas from Rank Xerox. Get it right.

  • best yet!

  • I have never seen these adverts on tv ever i only found them randomly on here, are these adverts only on sky and virgin media channels

  • I dont know, these guys are famous comedians over here, who does yours?

  • @Fangtorn that geek guy from die hard 4.0 is mac dont know who the other one is but i have seen him on QI

  • Microsoft is moving to other sources of incomes at the moment. Their entire buisness currently revolves around the idea that virtually everyone uses windows, even if you use pirated windows they still have a hundred and one other oppertunities to take your cash. This is why there is no concerted effort to stop piracy. They'd rather you used pirated copy of windows than mac or linux.

  • im so glad they didnt bring the guys that do this in america over here. those guys are so funny!

  • They Have now....But there not as good.

  • seriously?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :'(

  • yeah

  • nice

  • OH Shit!! M$ is now making money of MAC ppl!!

    ALL HAIL MAC xD

  • smug fucks!!!!

  • Apple's poor attempt at advertising MICROSOFT Office for their computers.

  • MOffice is better on a PC. There are more bugs in a mac than in a pc

  • Lol @ word :P

  • They should do one for PC games, and see how they try and make the best of that situation!

  • I get my new macbook tomorrow :]

  • i really want to get one but will it be compatable enough with the software i like and with my vista desktop pc?

  • Microsoft office runs terrible on macs

  • nope..

  • it is pretty slow to start tho, u ave to admit that, but thats Microsoft for ya

  • its just as fucking slow on a pc, the new office is a load of unnecessary bull shite

  • i love these commercials i can watch em all day long

  • 'Come on powerpoint'

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • 'And we're microsoft office'

    HAHAHA!!!!

that never fails to make me laugh like a chicken

  • Do mitchell and webb actually write these ads, 'cos they're genius and these aren't. Do you think it's written by the marketing people at Apple?

  • Benelton, Considering the same commercials are used over here with Justin Long and uhh... the other guy, I'd say Apple makes them.

    Still genius.

I don't know what Microsoft is thinking running those "I'm a PC and I like waffles" ads.

  • lol i no

  • If macs have such good programs then why the hell do you want to run microsoft's programs?

    apparently yours aren't good enough

  • Use openoffice it's free and it could do all the office work.

  • Openoffice, in my opinion, isn't as good.

I'd prefer to use Microsoft office than a more basic version you can download for free...

  • AKWARD! :D

  • So much for apple's creativity.

  • he dint call word back?!?!?!

  • because word is the biggest piece of shit ever

  • Wouldnt mind banging that "word"

  • I love this. Macs truly are supreme.

  • microsoft 2004 mac cant read microsoft 2007 files.

  • Because Mac without Microsoft Office is nobody. Mac is Mac because of us Graphic Artists. Otherwise Mac would be a box of junk at home. I use more my PC than my Mac and I have both.

  • what's the purple suit guy supposed to represent?

  • Microsoft Access (the database program) :)

  • This was the one UK "Mac vs PC" ad that I laughed at. :)

  • Microsoft OneNote i think?

  • Um, I don't think it's literal. Actually.

    Freaking funny though :)

  • you don't think it's literally? really? damn. and there was me thinking that that is actually how computers work. with guys standing around talking inside them. what the hell are you talking about? i know it's not literal, that doesn't make it any less shite.

  • it makes no sense. that makes it nonsense. the mac ads continue to be as patronising and as unfunny as ever, hurrah!

  • wait a minute; in one of the first Mac ads, the 'restarting' PC says "we both run microsoft office". so, why the heck is he so suprised to see a Mac running Microsoft Office here? when he's already told us that he knows it can do it? and what, because the Mac has Microsoft Office, that means the PC can't? if he knows they both can run it, why is he upset about it? "oh you have microsoft office over there huh? yeah, I have that too. dum de dum"

  • I don't think you should think about it that much - there's been a few about how mac doesn't get viruses and more are being made about that.

  • if things only work when "you dont think about it much", it is badly written. simply as that. the fact is, PC shouldnt care if mac can do all those things, because it doesnt stop him being able to do it. it makes no sense, therefore is not funny.

  • You're thinking about this WAY TOO MUCH.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the way computers work - this is all about advertising. This is a marketing device for people to think about buying Macs over PCs. If it was all technical then of course they'd do it differently.

This has nothing to do with technicality of the way computers work or if the adverts make sense.

Dude lighten up - it's an advert not a computer manual

  • you are a moron. you think I don't know it's an advert? they are making a statement about computers; that Macs are superior to PC's. I am aware of this. the reason they attempt to give, however, is clouded by unfunny humour and bad writing. that is my point. and you are clearly missing it.

  • First off- wonderful way to reply: "you are a moron".

And second: if you know it is an advert then why are you digging so deep? There's no need.

It's not written well, I'll give you that, but it's not targeted at an audience that is going to understand the sentence 'Macs can do anything PCs do' without proof. And the "unfunny humour" is just the way to help the targets like the adverts to remember them.

It's all marketing so do you think the makers care about the script or the jokes?

  • [cont]

I didn't get that you were saying this was simply badly written and that you didn't think it was funny: simply because you haven't made it until now.

  • actually, check the first posts on this video. i made those points over 3 months ago. but alas. i apologise for calling you a moron. sorry about that, was uncalled for.

  • Don't worry about that - and I'm sorry for only reading one post and reply without reading further ones.

Personally (now that I've read them all) I agree that they're badly written and some aren't funny. But I just take them with a pinch of salt - that why I laugh I think.

  • no worries, it's all good. i just thought mitchell and webb were better than this. anyways, take it easy
