"they were an atheist" That is a proof of divine intervention right there! A plurality of persons, "they", became a singularity "an atheist." (Of course, on second thought, it might just be a quirk of quantum indeterminism.)
Essentially stuff like this is happening, not literally chants but they are taught in school there is not God. Atheist manifesto, that could represent a number of things. Most of the rest of these claims I have pretty much heard in some form or another.
@BenjaminWirtz actually yes. Back when Stalin was in control of Russia he didn't want anything to distract people from worshiping him and the state. He just about barred region and killed about a quarter of a million clergy and left them to rot on the church grounds. I think Mao may have done something similar.
@BarbieBoy1997 The fact that you call the video "Negative" when it's clearly just lighthearted satire, then move on to suggest that all we do is going around spreading hate is actually quite funny to me. So if you have something better to do than jumping from video to video making baseless character insinuations, then I suggest you do it.
@Mrspurplecrazy It's just a nicer way to say: I will cut your throat. Since it would be god who did the killing, it would suddenly become ok for him to say this. In other words: retard spotted.
Christians complain because this country was once Christian in nature. People did not WANT to do the things that are done today, our moral compass has been broken and people have become, and are becoming, increasingly twisted.
Now Christians want to FORCE people to act moral in decisions that don't affect others. Like, gay marriage. It doesn't hurt anyone. Yet Christians are confused, and want to somehow revert our country back.
This is not something that should be enforced legally. (c)
True Christians should let atheists be atheists, heathens heathens, and gays gays. And if anyone will do something about it, it would be God. It's not like it would be the first time...(sodom and gomorrah.)
Notice, Sodom and Gomorrah was done by God and his angels. Not men. And no violent attempt to stop them from doing what they wanted to do was ever introduced until finally, God decided that the city should perish.
So Christians need to let people be who they are.
@MorpheusOmikron Actually, this country (I'll assume you're referring to the united states) was never really christian in nature. True, **many** of its early citizens were indeed christian, but the vast majority of the founding fathers/intellectuals of the time were deists, not christians. This is why they strongly held that church should be separated from the state, especially after coming from a governmental system where the church practically ruled supreme.
Yes, that is why the documents of our founding fathers are replete with references to God and Christianity.
It wasn't the state religion, yes. But our country WAS Christian in nature. Even Thomas Jefferson had his own bible - albeit, with everything he deemed illogical cut out. It was the principles. It was the morality.
Our country, at it's inception had God fearing men, or at least in their own estimation, running it and populating it. Finally, you (c)
Are mistaken about the intent of the "Separation of Church and State" (Which isn't in a legal document, by the way, or the constitution), is to protect the CHURCH, not the state. It's to protect the CHURCH from the state screwing with them and possibly making the free exercise of their religion illegal, which is why many pilgrims came to the united states in the first place. Nobody thought the state needed protection.
@BarbieBoy1997 So if a large majority of people where you lived were Hindu and wanted to impose their beliefs on others by, say, outlawing the consumption of beef, or demanding that public schools teach the traditional belief that Brahma created all things after springing from the navel of Vishnu as an alternative to evolution, and they were so numerous that only people who agreed with them would ever be elected to public office, you would remain silent and do nothing to combat their influence?
@cengime I see, you feel afraid of the big scary Christians? In what way are these monsters scaring you? Are their laws based on "Thou Shalt not Murder" a bad thing? Are their laws based on "Thou shalt not steal" imposing on you and the safety of your family?
It must be terrible to live your life to hate others. I feel so bad for you, being tortured by your past that you can't live in the present. What if today was your last day? And tomorrow was too late
@BarbieBoy1997 Oh, the laws that say if you see your neighbour working on the Sabbath, you have to kill him? And that if someone comes encouraging you to worship strange gods that your fathers have not known, you have to kill him? And that if two men lie together, you have to kill them? Laws you believe were laid down by a deity who repeatedly demands that children be indiscriminately killed, and even kills them Himself? Yes, the Covenant Code is an EXTREMELY scary, dangerous legal code.
@cengime Oh, that's terrible! Your politicians are trying to kill people for working on the Sabbath??? I didn't know things in America have become that bad. You kill your babies, you brainwash your children to believe that we evolved from monkeys, and now you are observing days as more important than the life of humans. You Americans are just insane.
I still do not think Iran should kill that Christian just because you don't like Christians. If you want someone to die for their faith, bye!
@BarbieBoy1997 If you're going to claim that two commandments prove the righteousness of Christianity, you can't expect people to ignore all the insane, medieval laws that are right next to them. Not a virgin on your wedding night? Death! Disobeyed your parents? Death! Had an affair with a married woman? Death! Raped a virgin? Better marry that girl!
@BarbieBoy1997 But come on now. Do you really mean to say that if you lived in a society of Hindus who wanted to push their beliefs on you and your children, you would really say nothing for fear of being ridiculed as nothing but an anti-Hindu "Christian" who had clearly just been hurt by a Hindu at some point in the past, and had nothing to fear from the large population of believers in what you consider a ridiculous superstition?
@BarbieBoy1997 How about the fact that the last president started a war that cost hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of lives because "God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq"?
@cengime Newsflash: All of your presidents SUCK! They are just greedy bastards out for the money. They do NOT give a shit about you. They'll be a pixie-worshipper if you pay them. You are their slaves, and you know it.
@cengime What subject? You are talking about your wanker president.
Were we talking about anything else last night? Can't recall, but I need to get out and catch the last waves of Summer, no time to beat the bush, Storms are coming in today.
@BarbieBoy1997 You claimed that there's no reason for atheists (a word you put in quotation marks) to speak out against religion other than personal trauma, pointing out that well-adjusted people like yourself don't go around criticising Hinduism, and I asked you whether you would still not criticise Hinduism if a large number of Hindus in society were affecting your life, and you asked me how Christianity could possibly affect my life, so I pointed out the religious motivation for the war.
@cengime It must be a horrible life to have to go around and be negative toward others and tell them how stupid their religion is. Do you have something BETTER? No.
If you hate God, whatever, but why piss on everyone else?
I think "Atheists" are just pissy old cry-babies that can't be happy and can't allow others to be happy.
Go Surf! soak up the sun! it'll do you some good! Seek God or shut up, you won't win being negative. No one likes a Negative Nancy. Have a tasty day, mate!
@BarbieBoy1997 Heh, if criticising other people's beliefs about religion is such a waste of time, what are you doing here commenting on atheist videos? Are you a "Negative Nancy" and a "pissy old cry-baby" for coming here to urge DarkMatter2525 to repent, or do you just think that atheists who talk publicly about religion are annoying, disrespectful bigots while Christians who talk publicly about religion are proud believers who aren't ashamed to spread the good news?
NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI NAZI
How can you find something offensive when it isn't even mocking anyone, or anything? It is simply telling some theists to stop trying to pull this bullshit in the aforementioned video. Don't go around houses saying 'THERE IS A GOD! BELIEVE OR GO TO HELL!' or 'I'M GOING TO GET YOU FIRED BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU ATHEIST FUCKHEAD!'
DarkMatter is shoving no one's cock down your throat, or anyone else's for that matter.
@Andyaaww I'm sorry to disagree with you but that is not true. 1st...you cannot prove to me the physical limit of the universe. 2nd...If a person were to go to our KNOWN limit of the universe (with measuring instruments we currently use) and extend a 100-foot 'wand of exploration' THAT would then be the limit of the known universe... He could repeat this for infinity. So...until we hit a wall, then the universe is indeed...infinite. (until we discover otherwise) So your point is moot.
@Prometheus1st Pure absurdism. Your argument only works if you assume that the universe is infinite (where you said "He could repeat this for infinity"). When you think about it, it's not so different from "the bible's true because the bible is the word of god, and the word of god is the truth".
Since you are the smartest guy in the world, tell us at least exactly what information would be sufficient for you, and thereby anyone who isn't an idiot, to take a stand on whether there is a god.
@JackyVSO See how you worked the divisively emotional idea of "taking a stand" into what should be a rational thought process? The question of theism isn't about taking sides, nor is critical thinking.
Well it sure was a good thing I did, otherwise you might have had to try and answer the question. Fortunately critical thinking does not rule out the option of forming opinions and beliefs. You just have to do so with some reservations, unlike in religion. This is high-school knowledge. Now, can we move on and please tell me what information you are waiting for in order to make a "judgement" on whether there is a god?
@JackyVSO "critical thinking does not rule out the option of forming opinions and beliefs."
You're absolutely right (but of course you were wrong implying that I said otherwise -- we call that fallacy a straw man). As a matter of fact, your argument "critical thinking does not rule out the option of forming opinions and beliefs" reinforces my point that you can form opinions rationally (like waiting for clear evidence) and irrationally (like taking a stand, or choosing a side).
That wasn't a straw man, that was an allegation. I implied that your point of view implied that the above statement was false, although you would of course accept it at face value. In other words, I implied a flaw in your argument and encouraged you to clear it up, which you did about half the way. You still need to define the line between your concept of taking a stand and forming a belief. There is no 100% certainty, you know.
@JackyVSO "You just have to do so with some reservations, unlike in religion."
Funny you should criticize religion for forming opinions without reservation in one breath, while criticizing agnostics for having the sense to reserve judgement in the next breath. Or was it the other way around? We call that fallacy inconsistency, but everybody knows that it's a sugarcoated hypocrisy.
"what information do you need in order to (dis)believe in a god?"
None, of course. That's why I don't believe. Basically the whole Bible is evidence that the Christian god does not exist (and same for most other holy books), but there is of course no evidence that there is no god at all. This is because the claim is what we call "unfalsifiable". There is no imaginable evidence against it. Hence your constant, and very wise, evasion of the question..I suppose you're also reserving judgement on Russell's teapot.
What an absurd question: "Could religious people tolerate an atheist who acted like them? ..Most religious people can't even tolerate anyone who has a religion that's different from their own.
For that matter, look at all the vitriol spewed by atheists against agnostics for having the good sense to reserve judgement until further evidence becomes available.
Theist, atheist.. it doesn't really matter. 95% of humanity are essentially idiots.
@skoockum Technically, everyone is either an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist, since nobody can say for certain whether or not a god exists. Atheists aren't saying a god definitely does not exist, they are merely saying they don't believe a god exists based on the lack of evidence to suggest one does.
@MHGooseMH what im on about is the fact that there are SOME athiests out there who like to go OUT of there way to diss the shit out of religion just cause they have nuthign better to do just sayin and im not saying that christians arnt the same sum are aswell :\ UNFORTUNATLY
@MEareCAT "Technically, everyone is either an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist"
Whether that's true or not is another issue, but within the context of my point it is certainly irrelevant. I'm not the one who's cutting down agnostics over subtle shades of hair splitting and a personal need for divisiveness ...atheists are -- take it up with them.
95%? You suck at calculation. World population = 7 billion. You = 1. 7 billion minus 1 = 6,999,999,999. 6,999,999,999 / 7,000,000,000 * 100 = 99.999999985714285714285714285714%
Yep pushing religion is the same of constantly trying to debunk a religion. Both atheist and Christians are guilty to this same thing and this video is horrible, I could have made a better video. It's not even capturing my attention.
this video is offensive as fuck. now i dont like people pushing religion on me, but i certainly dont approve of denouncing somebody's faith either. to quote the beatles.... "let it be."
@warpedwiselegoman thats besides the point though. ive encountered many atheists in my life as well as bible thumpers. i believe in god, but i dont try to convert anybody. all the atheists ive met try to either disprove god, or mock me and call me stupid for believing in one
@420lightmyspliff420 but you can't exactly deny that there are attitudes like those shown in the video that are expressed by some theists,specifically Christians?if you aren't one of those types of people who constantly tries to convert people,this video isn't directed at you,nor is the ire of the atheists you've encountered.
jeffrey v. williams is just one of 5 court cases that were studied in my ap gov class that consisted of school prayer (some were optional prayer and others mandatory). There are more out there too (@ the person that said there has never been any school prayer)
I'm sure someone who tried to promote religion in the workplace like a teacher who teaches creationism would definitely get fired, unless you're living in some fundamentalist part of the country.
@x234gm I think it's more the argument that there *are* fundamentalist parts of this country.
I went to school in texas for five years, and I assure you that the hate for any form of difference is very real. Maybe I just got five bad schools, it's possible, but it was in three different regions, two urban, one rural (rural was worst, by far...), and it seems that the society was just as pressuring as the teachers that should've been fired (but weren't...)
There may be discrimination in individual cases but but it's nowhere near comparable to systematic type of persecution like slavery or segregation. It's more like discrimination against fat people.
I sort of feel a bit sorry for Christians, especially in America. It is perfectly fine for everyone to be believing in their own versions of reality but unfortunately religion is being used as a massive tool by those higher up such as the politicians (as it always has been). You believers who read this please remember to stay true to your own beliefs, do not be influenced politicians or fox, make your own personal decisions. Keep your faith, your God and the gift of free will that he gave to you
I believe that murderers should instead go to jail. They killed someone. No fixing that. Killing them won't solve anything. We need to however constrict their rights for constricting another's. Abortion to me is only acceptable if a) the child is known to have a life of horrible, horrible suffering due to genetic problems, or the rare chance b) where a woman gets raped, impregnated, and is unable to get married or support a child with help. However, your thoughts are your own.
@bart797979 If God will not be mocked, then Christians are the first to go to hell. The sheer arrogance that they preach "Gods" will from a man made book. Thats just asking for punishment.
@bart797979 im pretty sure that, if by some crazy twist of fate, there ended up being a God and he judged the atheistic community, he would see all the evidence and be like,"you know what, I probably wouldnt have believed it myself." Then he'd look at all the zealots of every religion and just shake his head and say,"Really? You honestly thought what you were doing was the best course of action there?" Dont get me wrong, im not saying all religious people are bad and im not saying all atheists
@bart797979 are good but, it seems like everytime some religious person is in the news its because they pissed someone off by calling them evil and telling them theyre going to hell and just being plain hurtful because their holy text tells them they should. When do you ever see an atheist in the news that is doing anything besides being rational and polite to people and then getting yelled at for being a sinner?
@bart797979 "there's no chance you're wrong about God then this warning will mean nothing to you"
It already means nothing by its very nature. A god would have to be, by definition, omniscient. He would have had to know and preordain everything from the very beginning, as such, the growing doubt would have had to be predestined as well. If everything is part of his plan, that includes people mocking him.
He already knows if I'm going to mock him or not. Why does it matter?
If there was no god I wouldn't be sitting here. I would be out killing, because I hate everyone and the only thing stopping me from doing what the voices in my head tell me to do is the though that I might have to pay for it forever.
@Jetsiuc about 10%. The only other reason I could think of not to kill is a love or respect for people and or society. Well I absolutely hate society and most people I meat are pieces of shit.
@stardude692001 I don't know. Even though I too hate most of everything human on this planet, I just don't believe everyone is a solution. After all, there are not ONLY bad people in the world, so killing everyone is kinda of a morally wrong thing to do (IMO). Besides, being an atheist, I cherish my one life I have on this and, considering the hypothesis that I'm not the only one who feels like that about life, I'm not ok about killing people just because.
@Jetsiuc On the other hand, I'm ok with death penalty as long as it is aplied to people who killed, for they have permanently ended a life and, therefore, deserve not to keep theirs. Again, that's just my opinion.
@Jetsiuc what I find weird is that most people have different views on the death penalty and abortion. liberals believe in killing innocents but not hardened criminals while conservatives believe the opposite. I believe in both, eye for an eye for murderers, and I see abortion as a sort of mercy killing, saving a child from growing up with parents that don't want them.
@stardude692001 I don't believe in killing innocents, I want to save them...did I miss something? And call it what you want, abortion is incredible helpful to society. In my opinion, it's not killing because a fetus (let alone an embryo) is not conscious. But that's just my opinion and nothing more.
I'm not trying to attack you I am just trying to make you think. I just want to say that killing the old and weak would be incredible useful to society as well. consciousness could start at birth or when a fetus begins to move and respond to stimuli or sometime after birth when they start to remember things.
but let me ask you this if someone was unconscious in a coma with almost no hope of waking up, would shooting them be murder? It is very complicated.
@stardude692001 I support euthanasia if that's relevant, but the idea is it's killing with consent. I obviously don't support just slaughtering the elderly to get rid of social security debt lol.
Comas--no, I don't think so. If the person's survival chances are indeed miniscule and their close friends and family approve, I do not consider that murder.
part of my point is that slaughtering the elderly would for the most part help society, and if there is no god to judge us for doing it, then why not do it?
What about if someone was in a coma there was a 95% likelihood that they would wake up in 6-9 months but would remember nothing. What makes that person different then a fetus: they are unconscious and will have no memories or skills when they wake up.
@stardude692001 'If there was no God to judge us, why not do it?
Because we're human beings. Why can't you accept we, as a species can think for ourselves! Christians pick and choose what morality they take from the bible. We take it from experience. Treat others as you would like to be treated. That's not from the bible, that's just humanity.
Not all religious people are Christians, and not all Christians tow the bullshit line given to them by organised religion. Just because the bible is a load of crap doesn't mean that we all just rot in the ground when we die. Death is not scary death should not be run from it is natural and if we all weren't so scared of death we would waste so much time and money clinging to life.
@stardude692001 That's not the best justification for good behavior--its like people who do community service in high school...because they need the hours to graduate.
Why not slaughter people? Cause, in their shoes, we would not want to be slaughtered.
But I want to be killed. I long for death. I have tried to kill myself a couple of time, I'm just afraid of going to hell.
Even on my best days I don't want to live to be ninty if I can barely move, I want to go out with my boots on.
at a certain point people stop having any value to the world, that is usually when they go into nursing homes, wasting tens of thousands of dollars a year while they slowly and painfully die.
@stardude692001 Sure--for you, euthanasia would be okay in my books. For others, not so, especially if they don't believe in heaven and hell. It's all about consent.
fuck consent. I didn't consent to taxes to speed limits to drug laws, why do I have to consent to death. My dad died a couple years after he retired he wasn't even70 and he was a good man, that wasn't fair. If nature can kill people why can't we, what makes a human being different from HIV or cancer? Most people are too dumb or selfish for me to care about their consent.
@stardude692001 Well, selfish as we may be, we have feelings too. Also, just cause someone else jumps off a cliff doesn't mean you should follow. What makes a human being different from cancer? A human being KNOWS it's fucked; cancer doesn't. Some humans, yourself included i imagine, dont care about being killed or are very tough OR, and I feel like this is the case, dont think of death as death but rather as a new life (heaven). But for those who dont, you should show some compassion.
whether you believe in an afterlife or not death only hurts the ones left behind, either you moved on to another life or your rotting in the ground and can't feel anything. And if you are a terrible burden to those people then no one is hurt by your death. for most people I do show compassion, but I think most of the people watching this video are grown up enough to handle the cold hard truth.
We are all going to die, and it doesn't Really matter how.
@stardude692001 For one thing you wouldn't shoot them... I don't think pulling the plug on someone with no hope of waking up is murder. I'd suggest reading "Whose life is it anyway?" I'm sorry but I've forgotten the Authors name. It's a very interesting book.
I'm not necessarily calling for wiping out the human race. I have not thought about how I would feel about nuclear weapons if I believed there was no god. I'm saying I would like more of an old west, kill people who fuck with you, type deal. As for your second part, I don't really like my life and the main thing that prevents me from killing myself is the knowledge of hell, of course on the other hand I only really don't like my life compared to what the afterlife will be like.
Sorry ran out of room. Let me ask you one question, If you could do whatever you wanted for a day but you wouldn't remember it the next, what would be the difference between a wonderful day and a horrible day?
@stardude692001 Well... If I could do anything for a day that I wouldn't remember the next day, I'd act normally. It's not like I would want the consequences to come back and bite me in the ass...
but what if there were no consequences, my point is, that if there is nothing left or us after death then life is pointless are at least morality is. If you take atheism to its logical conclusion you get a very scary world, I point to Nietzsche if you read his work he tore religion apart but without it he starts to wander down a scary path.
@stardude692001 How is "this is the only life I have" more scary than "I have to honestly believe in something which existence goes against everything I call logic or else I'll suffer for eternity"? I find very scary the idea of the christian afterlife, because it implies that I'll either suffer for eternity or life in glory for eternity... until I realize there are people that are being tortured for all of eternity meanwhile.
@stardude692001 I had the same thought in high school. Like what if, the amount of time you spent, and the percentage of that time spent actually being tortured was based on how good/bad you are in life. Like you go to Hell first if you were bad and get tortured for maybe 10-20% of your stay, and then you can either apply for citizenship or wait in limbo to get sent to heaven for half the time you're in Hell. Then you get reincarnated. I think that's how it works. And why not?
"and why not?" you ask. Don't you think if there was a God had somehow organized a hell and a heaven for people, he would have given some clue that it was like you imagine it to be, or at least not claimed the opposite?
Anyway the universe, the things around you, don't care what stories you invent in your head. Atheists are atheists because all the evidence in the world around us contradicts the supposed "words of God". That's all there is to it. Go take a look.
@JackyVSO You don't need to tell me about atheists, I am one. These were just things I was pondering during times I was supposed to be writing in English class a few years ago.
The real hell is a lot different from the popular view. for one thing its like an ogre or onion, it has layers and the top 3 out of seven aren't bad 1. is actually nicer than earth its like having a good day everyday. 2 is like earth 3 is like earth on a bad day everyday. 90% of people going to hell go to those layers only murderers rapist and abusers make it to the lower levels were the torturer happens.
also a cool thing I found out was about there military policy. Say your a soldier fighting to defend your country and you kill people, well thought shalt not kill still applies but since you were doing it for the right reasons you get the option to spend your time in limbo or you can join gods army and kill demons and get in faster.
@stardude692001 Now THAT would be fair. I'm serious. If that was the actual idea christians had of hell, then I wouldn't see their religion with the hate I do.
I do believe Jews and Muslims have the same views on hell. but they are all still sheep being controlled by organised religion. Don't hate the catholic hate the Vatican, that kind of thing.
@stardude692001 Plus, if there is nothing after death, then you have to face life and live it, even though you know it will not last forever. And how come morality is useless if there is no afterlife. Sure, there is no god to judge me, but I'd still feel bad for doing something bad to someone else. My opinion is: if you do good stuff because you don't want to go to hell, then you're not a good person, because you're trying to gain from the situation.
Even without hell, just considering we live on after death I don't want to be burdened with gilt for my past crimes for eternity, but I could easily live 50 years with those feelings.
@stardude692001 Dude, I don't have to live forever to feel guilty. I'm 20 and already have lots and lots of guilt in my life. But I'm not ok with that. In fact, based on those mistakes I made, I try to improve myself and try to prevent those mistakes to ever happen again, because I don't want to be remembered (no matter how briefly) for doing wrong stuff and never doing anything to fix that.
and that is fine and good. I don't think I have any problems with your actions or beliefs.
what I'm saying is, say take for example sociopaths people who don't feel guilt or emotion and have the urge to kill or pedophiles. Why should they suffer denying themselves for the rest of society? why should the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?
@stardude692001 We already have institutions to take care of that. I'm all for arresting pedophiles and have already said that murderers deserve to die (IMO), because that's what people should fear. An earthly punishment. Besides, the idea that you can do whatever you want as long as you convert later and then you're all set to heaven just makes me sick...
you don't get a free pass you have to pay for every crime you commit.
They just put if that convert and get a free pass thing to get more members.
ask and ye shall receive, forgiveness, put you still get punished, it like if a child admits they brook something, you still punish them but in the end its ok.
People should not be afraid of death, fear of death causes so many problems in this world. including pushing people toward organized religion and not thinking for themselves/
@Axxorz Wikipedia (only source of info at the moment). And yes, Hitler was a theist to boot, claiming that what he was doing was his holy mission given to him by god (Mein Kampf).
It might be 'satire', but it's exactly what Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris want. And yet they pretend that atheism is not an ideology. Such evil.

I don't hate atheist they are on the road to enlightenment.
1. believe all the shit crammed down your throat.
2. reject everything and believe nothing. "kinda like hipsters"
3. spend your life trying to figure out the truth for yourself.
4. Enlightenment.
keep going guys your almost there.

BarbieBoy1997 1 day ago
@BarbieBoy1997 The fact that you call the video "Negative" when it's clearly just lighthearted satire, then move on to suggest that all we do is going around spreading hate is actually quite funny to me. So if you have something better to do than jumping from video to video making baseless character insinuations, then I suggest you do it.

@BarbieBoy1997 I find it humorous how little you know about this subject, and sad that you are so ignorant.
It doesn't suck to be Atheist, nor does it suck to be Christian/Muslim/Jewish/Shinto/Hindu/whatever.
It SUCKS when satire is taken as outright hatred to a particular group, and shunned by the ignorant masses for no reason but lack of understanding.
THAT sucks.

MorpheusOmikron 2 days ago
@MorpheusOmikron
MorpheusOmikron 2 days ago
@MorpheusOmikron Actually, this country (I'll assume you're referring to the united states) was never really christian in nature. True, **many** of its early citizens were indeed christian, but the vast majority of the founding fathers/intellectuals of the time were deists, not christians. This is why they strongly held that church should be separated from the state, especially after coming from a governmental system where the church practically ruled supreme.
pseudogenesis 20 hours ago
@pseudogenesis

Laws you believe were laid down by a deity who repeatedly demands that children be indiscriminately killed, and even kills them Himself? Yes, the Covenant Code is an EXTREMELY scary, dangerous legal code.

Prometheus1st 4 days ago
@Prometheus1st Pure absurdism. Your argument only works if you assume that the universe is infinite (where you said "He could repeat this for infinity"). When you think about it, it's not so different from "the bible's true because the bible is the word of god, and the word of god is the truth".

Since you are the smartest guy in the world, tell us at least exactly what information would be sufficient for you, and thereby anyone who isn't an idiot, to take a stand on whether there is a god.
JackyVSO 3 days ago
@JackyVSO See how you worked the divisively emotional idea of "taking a stand" into what should be a rational thought process? The question of theism isn't about taking sides, nor is critical thinking.
skoockum 2 days ago
@skoockum
JackyVSO 2 days ago
@JackyVSO "critical thinking does not rule out the option of forming opinions and beliefs."
You're absolutely right (but of course you were wrong implying that I said otherwise -- we call that fallacy a straw man). As a matter of fact, your argument "critical thinking does not rule out the option of forming opinions and beliefs" reinforces my point that you can form opinions rationally (like waiting for clear evidence) and irrationally (like taking a stand, or choosing a side).
skoockum 1 day ago
@skoockum
JackyVSO 1 day ago
@JackyVSO "You just have to do so with some reservations, unlike in religion."
Funny you should criticize religion for forming opinions without reservation in one breath, while criticizing agnostics for having the sense to reserve judgement in the next breath. Or was it the other way around? We call that fallacy inconsistency, but everybody knows that it's a sugarcoated hypocrisy.
"what information do you need in order to (dis)believe in a god?"
What evidence is there? Pile it on.
skoockum 1 day ago
@skoockum
JackyVSO 1 day ago
What an absurd question: "Could religious people tolerate an atheist who acted like them? ..Most religious people can't even tolerate anyone who has a religion that's different from their own.
For that matter, look at all the vitriol spewed by atheists against agnostics for having the good sense to reserve judgement until further evidence becomes available.
Theist, atheist.. it doesn't really matter. 95% of humanity are essentially idiots.
skoockum 4 days ago
@skoockum Technically, everyone is either an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist, since nobody can say for certain whether or not a god exists. Atheists aren't saying a god definitely does not exist, they are merely saying they don't believe a god exists based on the lack of evidence to suggest one does.

Why does it matter?

stardude692001 6 days ago
@stardude692001 I don't know. Even though I too hate most of everything human on this planet, I just don't believe everyone is a solution. After all, there are not ONLY bad people in the world, so killing everyone is kinda of a morally wrong thing to do (IMO). Besides, being an atheist, I cherish my one life I have on this and, considering the hypothesis that I'm not the only one who feels like that about life, I'm not ok about killing people just because.
Jetsiuc 6 days ago
@Jetsiuc On the other hand, I'm ok with death penalty as long as it is aplied to people who killed, for they have permanently ended a life and, therefore, deserve not to keep theirs. Again, that's just my opinion.
Jetsiuc 6 days ago
@Jetsiuc what I find weird is that most people have different views on the death penalty and abortion. liberals believe in killing innocents but not hardened criminals while conservatives believe the opposite. I believe in both, eye for an eye for murderers, and I see abortion as a sort of mercy killing, saving a child from growing up with parents that don't want them.
stardude692001 5 days ago
@stardude692001 I don't believe in killing innocents, I want to save them...did I miss something? And call it what you want, abortion is incredible helpful to society. In my opinion, it's not killing because a fetus (let alone an embryo) is not conscious. But that's just my opinion and nothing more.
TheCasey73 5 days ago
@TheCasey73
It is very complicated.
stardude692001 5 days ago
@stardude692001 I support euthanasia if that's relevant, but the idea is it's killing with consent. I obviously don't support just slaughtering the elderly to get rid of social security debt lol.
Comas--no, I don't think so. If the person's survival chances are indeed miniscule and their close friends and family approve, I do not consider that murder.
TheCasey73 5 days ago
@TheCasey73
part of my point is that slaughtering the elderly would for the most part help society, and if there is no god to judge us for doing it, then why not do it?
What about if someone was in a coma there was a 95% likelihood that they would wake up in 6-9 months but would remember nothing. What makes that person different then a fetus: they are unconscious and will have no memories or skills when they wake up.
stardude692001 4 days ago
@stardude692001 'If there was no God to judge us, why not do it?
Because we're human beings. Why can't you accept we, as a species can think for ourselves! Christians pick and choose what morality they take from the bible. We take it from experience. Treat others as you would like to be treated. That's not from the bible, that's just humanity.
frontier219 4 days ago
@frontier219
Not all religious people are Christians, and not all Christians tow the bullshit line given to them by organised religion. Just because the bible is a load of crap doesn't mean that we all just rot in the ground when we die. Death is not scary death should not be run from it is natural and if we all weren't so scared of death we would waste so much time and money clinging to life.
stardude692001 4 days ago
@stardude692001 That's not the best justification for good behavior--its like people who do community service in high school...because they need the hours to graduate.
Why not slaughter people? Cause, in their shoes, we would not want to be slaughtered.
TheCasey73 1 day ago
@TheCasey73
FUCK THAT SHIT that give me a bullet to the head.
stardude692001 1 day ago
@stardude692001 Sure--for you, euthanasia would be okay in my books. For others, not so, especially if they don't believe in heaven and hell. It's all about consent.
TheCasey73 1 day ago
@TheCasey73
fuck consent. I didn't consent to taxes to speed limits to drug laws, why do I have to consent to death. My dad died a couple years after he retired he wasn't even70 and he was a good man, that wasn't fair. If nature can kill people why can't we, what makes a human being different from HIV or cancer? Most people are too dumb or selfish for me to care about their consent.
stardude692001 23 hours ago
@stardude692001 Well, selfish as we may be, we have feelings too. Also, just cause someone else jumps off a cliff doesn't mean you should follow. What makes a human being different from cancer? A human being KNOWS it's fucked; cancer doesn't. Some humans, yourself included i imagine, dont care about being killed or are very tough OR, and I feel like this is the case, dont think of death as death but rather as a new life (heaven). But for those who dont, you should show some compassion.
TheCasey73 20 hours ago
@TheCasey73 I see your points. but. . .
whether you believe in an afterlife or not death only hurts the ones left behind, either you moved on to another life or your rotting in the ground and can't feel anything. And if you are a terrible burden to those people then no one is hurt by your death. for most people I do show compassion, but I think most of the people watching this video are grown up enough to handle the cold hard truth.
We are all going to die, and it doesn't Really matter how.
stardude692001 4 hours ago
@stardude692001 For one thing you wouldn't shoot them... I don't think pulling the plug on someone with no hope of waking up is murder. I'd suggest reading "Whose life is it anyway?" I'm sorry but I've forgotten the Authors name. It's a very interesting book.
TheFratmanbootcake 5 days ago
@stardude692001 Completely agree.
Jetsiuc 5 days ago
@Jetsiuc
I'm not necessarily calling for wiping out the human race. I have not thought about how I would feel about nuclear weapons if I believed there was no god. I'm saying I would like more of an old west, kill people who fuck with you, type deal. As for your second part, I don't really like my life and the main thing that prevents me from killing myself is the knowledge of hell, of course on the other hand I only really don't like my life compared to what the afterlife will be like.
stardude692001 5 days ago
@Jetsiuc
Sorry ran out of room. Let me ask you one question, If you could do whatever you wanted for a day but you wouldn't remember it the next, what would be the difference between a wonderful day and a horrible day?
stardude692001 5 days ago
@stardude692001 Well... If I could do anything for a day that I wouldn't remember the next day, I'd act normally. It's not like I would want the consequences to come back and bite me in the ass...
Jetsiuc 5 days ago
@Jetsiuc
but what if there were no consequences, my point is, that if there is nothing left or us after death then life is pointless are at least morality is. If you take atheism to its logical conclusion you get a very scary world, I point to Nietzsche if you read his work he tore religion apart but without it he starts to wander down a scary path.
stardude692001 4 days ago
@stardude692001 How is "this is the only life I have" more scary than "I have to honestly believe in something which existence goes against everything I call logic or else I'll suffer for eternity"? I find very scary the idea of the christian afterlife, because it implies that I'll either suffer for eternity or life in glory for eternity... until I realize there are people that are being tortured for all of eternity meanwhile.
Jetsiuc 4 days ago
@Jetsiuc
The two things I believe/know that mark me as a heretic to most Christians are:
1. Hell is not eternal, its a lot like jail you may call it a life sentence but it only last 30-40 years.
2. You don't go straight to either place, Reincarnation is very real and its role in everything is wholly unknown to most westerners.
stardude692001 4 days ago
@stardude692001 I had the same thought in high school. Like what if, the amount of time you spent, and the percentage of that time spent actually being tortured was based on how good/bad you are in life. Like you go to Hell first if you were bad and get tortured for maybe 10-20% of your stay, and then you can either apply for citizenship or wait in limbo to get sent to heaven for half the time you're in Hell. Then you get reincarnated. I think that's how it works. And why not?
TheAndiePerson 4 days ago
@TheAndiePerson
JackyVSO 3 days ago 11
@JackyVSO You don't need to tell me about atheists, I am one. These were just things I was pondering during times I was supposed to be writing in English class a few years ago.
TheAndiePerson 3 days ago
@TheAndiePerson
The real hell is a lot different from the popular view. for one thing its like an ogre or onion, it has layers and the top 3 out of seven aren't bad 1. is actually nicer than earth its like having a good day everyday. 2 is like earth 3 is like earth on a bad day everyday. 90% of people going to hell go to those layers only murderers rapist and abusers make it to the lower levels were the torturer happens.
stardude692001 3 days ago
@TheAndiePerson
also a cool thing I found out was about there military policy. Say your a soldier fighting to defend your country and you kill people, well thought shalt not kill still applies but since you were doing it for the right reasons you get the option to spend your time in limbo or you can join gods army and kill demons and get in faster.
stardude692001 3 days ago
@stardude692001 Now THAT would be fair. I'm serious. If that was the actual idea christians had of hell, then I wouldn't see their religion with the hate I do.
Jetsiuc 3 days ago
@Jetsiuc
I do believe Jews and Muslims have the same views on hell. but they are all still sheep being controlled by organised religion. Don't hate the catholic hate the Vatican, that kind of thing.
stardude692001 3 days ago
@stardude692001 Plus, if there is nothing after death, then you have to face life and live it, even though you know it will not last forever. And how come morality is useless if there is no afterlife. Sure, there is no god to judge me, but I'd still feel bad for doing something bad to someone else. My opinion is: if you do good stuff because you don't want to go to hell, then you're not a good person, because you're trying to gain from the situation.
Jetsiuc 4 days ago
@Jetsiuc
Even without hell, just considering we live on after death I don't want to be burdened with gilt for my past crimes for eternity, but I could easily live 50 years with those feelings.
stardude692001 4 days ago
@stardude692001 Dude, I don't have to live forever to feel guilty. I'm 20 and already have lots and lots of guilt in my life. But I'm not ok with that. In fact, based on those mistakes I made, I try to improve myself and try to prevent those mistakes to ever happen again, because I don't want to be remembered (no matter how briefly) for doing wrong stuff and never doing anything to fix that.
Jetsiuc 3 days ago
@Jetsiuc
and that is fine and good. I don't think I have any problems with your actions or beliefs.
what I'm saying is, say take for example sociopaths people who don't feel guilt or emotion and have the urge to kill or pedophiles. Why should they suffer denying themselves for the rest of society? why should the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?
stardude692001 3 days ago
@stardude692001 We already have institutions to take care of that. I'm all for arresting pedophiles and have already said that murderers deserve to die (IMO), because that's what people should fear. An earthly punishment. Besides, the idea that you can do whatever you want as long as you convert later and then you're all set to heaven just makes me sick...
Jetsiuc 3 days ago
@Jetsiuc
you don't get a free pass you have to pay for every crime you commit.

It's funny, because both Stalin and Hitler were religious!

@Axxorz From what I read, Stalin was an atheist. I am an atheist, btw, so no need to get touchy.

@Jetsiuc Hmm, where did you read this? Well, Hitler was no atheist at least.

@Axxorz Wikipedia (only source of info at the moment). And yes, Hitler was a theist to boot, claiming that what he was doing was his holy mission given to him by god (Mein Kampf).
