  • The spooky thing is, everytime I watch Mozart's dad, he looks and acts like my grandfather, who is dead, so that makes it even whackier

  • @Marco

Yes, the one and the same

  • Forgive my horrendous ignorance of history, but when he says his sister Antionette in France, does he mean Marie Antionette?

  • Um...I shit marble..

  • this is a amazing movie and it was sometime since i saw this

  • Research historic events. Salieri may have been "second fiddle" in the genius category but he was respected, successful and wealthy. The adversarial relationship theory makes for good drama but lacks credibility.

  • Hahaha The end of this part was soo Funny hahaha

  • the completely ruined this movie by making salieri pretty much like the main character

  • @XXXDustinEchoesXXX salieri is not like the main character, he is the main character. If you really look at it this film is not about Mozart so much but the way Salieri felt about Mozart which is just as the play and the book was by Russian poet, Pushkin.

  • The laugh....

  • Shit marble, worse than shitting bricks.

    ~

  • Writing on the pool table was appropriate. Mozart enjoyed games, a good game of billiards once in a while.

  • 8 people shit marble :p

  • does anyone know the name of this song at 2:40?

  • @cdiciurcio it says it in the caption at the top

  • Thanks marianmus for the You Tube upload! Amadeus is on best movies of all time.

  • i live in mozart's apartment, it's pretty sweet...the pool table i mean

  • Anyone else think it's hilarious how as soon as Mozart says, "they shit marbles" and we see the reactions of the other men, the video ends?

  • @schmuckenheimer9 I laughed, it was really funny ^.^ . I guess it was just manners at the time...

  • Quem foi Salieri?

    Mozart, gênio da humanidade.

  • How easy it must have been to be a thief in those days. Nowadays with silent alarms, cameras in places you would least expect.. really you can't ever be completely safe when breaking into someones house anymore.

  • @Dridokof yes but that was an inside job.

  • what is that place at 5:40?

  • where is that place at 3:00

  • a young Cynthia Nixon

  • Mozart was a left handed, not right handed

  • What's the name of the piece mazart is playing in the courtyard to the emperor??

  • Nobody likes a snitch, Salieri.

  • How many pianos does he have...didn't they take one to the concert?

  • Picture of Haydn @0:26

  • @WhopperJS Indeed, well spotted! It fits the scene because Haydn and Mozart were close friends. :)

I did some searching for that image, and it seems the inclusion of it here is an anachronism. It seems based on John Hoppner's painting of Haydn from 1791, i.e. the year Mozart died. So its inclusion here is too early: the image didn't exist yet.

  • Tom Hulce deserved the Oscar instead of Abraham

  • The young servant is Miranda of Sex and the city!

  • wow they're actually using the baroque instruments?

  • 0:28 Oh look, it's a painting of Haydn that was made a year after Mozart died :).

  • I hate Constanze

  • @wincipoet Why? Her father -in-law is being such a pain in the rear.

  • @truvianni and @marianmus Thanks for the information. That building is near Prague Castle, on the top of the street. For visiting Loreta, you up the street and turn to the left. However, to go to the building (that appears in the movie like Mozart's house) you up the street and turn to the right. Thank you all by your help: I was there a year ago!

  • actually I am a writer I even wrote a book about called "New York's Opera Society". I also wrote an article about the aria "Contesa Perdono" of course if you care to read it you can google my name "Truvianni" and Contesa Perdono and you should find it.

  • There is however one mistake in the above text. The aria in this part is "Contesa Perdono" not "A tutti Contenti"

  • @truvianni Thank you, I've corrected it. Actually, it isn't an aria, it's only a short part of the Finale.

  • As a fan of both opera and classical music I simply adore this film

  • epic end of video is epic xD

    as if they shit marble!

gasp! gasp! gasp! end video lol

  • the hands of tom hulce are really beautiful.real piano-fingers!

  • hahahahaha the new housekeeper is cynthia nixon ( miranda from sex and the city ) ;)

  • @sassypinkanimallover so it is Cynthia Nixon actually I have never seen "Sex In The City" yet I know what it is and that she is on it and what she looks like though in my opinion she was unattractive even back then.

  • @truvianni I don't find her to be gorgeous but she is pretty in my eyes :) a great actress too

  • did anyone notice, look during this scene. they are running mozarts piano out of his house to play at the concert but when salieri walks in its in his room?

  • @scarface12347 I dont think that it necesarily means that it was happening at the same time. They had to do it that way by the way because on a carriage the piano would be bumped and could go out of tune.

  • LOL, I love how this video ends right after that line.

  • I love that @ 5:39 he walks in & starts lookin' around for the piano that he thinks they want him to play.

  • little witch let the enemy inside the fort?!

  • This movie was on Turner Classic Movies last night. If they do as they normally do, it will come on again. Maybe you can get more info if you watch it. Great clip!

  • man Mozart was Dorky thats why hes a Genius..

  • 6:52 You don't say Marie...

  • I love the music at 2:32 !

  • Writing "The Marriage of Figaro"...

The build up wondering what he's writing, but it's worth it--one of the greatest works of music EVER!

Of ART EVER! It stands with Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and Michaelangelo's "David" and da Vinci's "Mona Lisa!"

And among such musical giants as Beethoven's 5th Symphony and Bizet's "Carmen" and Tchaikovksy's "Eugene Onegin" and Puccini's "Madama Butterfly!"

What a brilliant, hilarious film, so suited for such a brilliant, INCREDIBLE MAN!

    MOZART!

  • me encanta su risa

  • What is the name of the piece of music to which he refers, "the end of the second act". I would like to hear this 20mins of sustained addition of voices...stupid gardener and all.

  • Whats the name of the song at 2:02 ???

  • This is a great scene- the argument about what art really should be. Mozart's joy at talking about his new creation is contagious.

  • I do not believe this, he stoles Mozart ideas of his music and snitches. what an asshole

  • @wyhawk jealousy's an ugly thing

  • i think mozart needs better morals then there wouldn't be as many problems

  • i dont like . it's boring. make another film, more intrusting,

  • @jochus79 I do like. It's intriguing. Make another sentence, more inderstandable without a comma at the end,,,

  • "Say-er"

  • what is the piano concerto he plays in the beginning of this clip?

  • I can only assume that Billy Idol would have been thrown into the dungeon on a moment's notice.... ;])

  • How brilliant is the Salieri role? The difference between someone who is very good at their profession and someone who is a genius. Salieri knows the difference, and therein lies his pain and the tragedy of his character.

  • @nooyawkfun it takes a certain genius to recognize genius..

  • What is the song playing while Mozart is writing music on the pool table?

  • He's Obsessed with Mozart and everything about him......

Very sad story, for all the characters .

  • @moonaharshmistress

His dad was right about everything. It hurt me to watch Mozart spend all that money!

  • they still play this (opera) syndicate via NPR on weekends.

  • I much rather listen to Hercules than a hairdresser.

  • @ASKaPHYSICIST and they shit marble!

  • @ 7.42..."the valets scheming maid comes in..." anyone get the reference...?

Mozart knew what was going on!!

  • @MoonAharshMistress whats really suprising is Mozarts dad was right. He shouldnt have accepted that maid without refrences. :P

  • @Iceyguy101 . yep, dads are always right.lol.

  • If Stanzie is a bad housekeeper Leopold should want the girl.

  • my fav part was Don Giovanni

  • What piano concerto is this at 2.09??

  • @CorelliChopin08 i want to know as well!

  • @Zeppelinfan25 I just found out after looking at all his concertos!! it No. 22 3rd movement! +)

  • aww well the poor wife was pregnant and probably moody

  • I can sort of relate to Sallairi (as he's portrayed in this film) because I know someone who is vain, egotisical and has little respect for women and yet he's better then me....(more pouplar) it's sad but it seems to be a better person you have to be a vain egoist...

  • one of the best scenes in the movie! mozart playing his wonderful piano concerto no 22 in his famous red coat ^^!

  • The Maid is so CUTE!!! :> no wonder, SEX IN THE CITY!

  • When he was talking about my Sister Antoinette was he talking about the Marie Antoinette that we all know and love??!!!! THAT is SO COOOOOL!

  • What is the piece at 2:03?

  • Mozart is sexy.

  • @papermermaid Yes!! And I thought I was the only one who thought Mozart in this was hot.

  • Shit marvel lmao

  • i was joking :P but everyone and each composer has big talent and his own way to play

  • what if rachmonioff was there was he able to beat mozart there ? in piano play ?

  • @thegoddescomposer rachmoninoff composed the most difficult piano piece in the world. Also dont forget about beethoven who was a virtuoso at piano. you cant get any better than that.

  • In the profile of Mozart, it was stated that he was a man whose sense of humour was more filled with scatology. Thus why at the start of the movie, you see him making jokes in that manner. "Ass" and "Shit". Also in the farting scene. That was just his style.

  • I need to know the real name of the building that was used to be Mozart's house in this movie. Who could help me? Thanks.

  • @Moranjinha There is some information on the IMDB. Most of the film was shot in Prage, in different places, streets, theatres or palaces. But I think that the Mozart's house was a studio.

  • @Moranjinha after imdb.... which is virtually useless.... see what wiki has to say.. but sooner or later on google someone, somewhere has at least a revelance to a reference, so i hope, though i never studied his abode where most the happenings occurred.

  • @Moranjinha 'this'. who knows.. this may be a stage? now i'm wondering.

  • @Moranjinha I dont know the name of the house which was used in this film but what I can tell you is this film was made in Prague not Vienna like is claimed in the film therefore it must be a building in Prague. I hope this bit of information helps you.

  • If only they knew that the Marriage of Figaro would be one of the most famous operas in history.

  • have they cut out a bit in this? cos i definitely remember the line "i was staring through the cages of heaven into an absolute beauty" or sumthing when he looks at the music, or does that occur in the elusive part 7?

  • Marbles have been shat

  • lol, this movie's amazing.

  • 探してました~(・∀・`)

    って字幕読めねぇし!!

  • thats the song called at 2:13-4:07

  • That maide is on Sex and the City. She is very young here cause this movie was in the 1980's

  • @Frank33314:

Are you sure about the maid being Miranda? =D

  • yep that is her

  • Salieri's a dick.

  • Whats the music in 4:25 - 4:48 ?

  • The Marriage of Figaro K. 492

    Act 4, Ah Tutti Contenti

  • Thats from "marriage of figaro", VI. act "contessa perdono"

  • what concerto is this from 2:32 ?

  • I think's it's Piano Concerto No. 21, but I could be wrong...

  • @ pepakake

It's the frankly marvelous Piano Concerto No. 22 in E flat major, Third Movement K. 482

  • @ ThatZazenIdiot

    thanks a lot

  • MOZART era zurdo (left-handed) no diestro (right-handed)

  • come lo sai ?

  • MOZART era zurdo; no diestro.

    MOZART was left-handed, no right-handed

  • I wish i could shit marble... i would make alot of money:))))

  • @karadeniz24 If you could manage gold you would make even more money

  • Forgive me for correcting a small factual error, but Anne I was Queen of England from 1702-1714, successor of William III and predecessor of George I. The emperor is refering to his younger sister, the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, Austrian archduchess, who had very good reason to fear the wrath of her overburdened subjects, whose untold suffering was not altogether her fault. She, like many noble women, was the hapless victim of circumstances beyond all human control.

  • queen anne is afraid of her own people because of a opra lol

Its not because she ws starving her people?

  • i love mozart lol:) the actor who plays mozart is just perfect and cute also :x and all his plays are incredible!!

  • THAT GIRL'S freakin EVIL. She's Salieri's spy.

  • lol, Wolfgang's dad sounds like me pops

  • ale smiech

  • heh, shit marble xD

  • i love the monologues in this. the actor who plays mozart is simply perfect :)

  • Yeah with the wierd laugh, perfect.

  • @sophieshigeko The actor of Mozart is Tom Hulce.

  • @sophieshigeko Yes he is! In case you didn't know, his name is Tom Hulce.

  • Mozart's works, used in this clip:

    1. 00:45 - 1:05 Le Nozze di Figaro K. 492, 4th act, Finale

    2. 2:00 - 4:03 Piano concerto no. 22 ES K. 482, 3d movement

    3. 4:24 - 4:48 Le Nozze di Figaro K. 492, 4th act, Finale, orchestral score.

    3.

  • OMG. She is! I totally didn't recognize her!

  • OMG the maid is Miranda from sex and the city!

  • this is true?

  • @elunicomejor1 the movie is fiction, im pretty sure

  • @elunicomejor1 yep! :) compare pictures if you'd like.

  • just 17 years old back then :D

  • @chevalover06 Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) was barely age 18 when she did this movie.

  • @chevalover06 i know right? i remember her from baby's day out. im like so familiar..... YES

  • "People so lofty they sound as if they shit marble!"

Hahahaha, I've seen this 40 times, and still chuckle every time I hear this.

  • is cynthia nixon the maid?? you know from Sex in the City?

  • Yes, it is her.

  • Constanze look so cute in this movie (well the actress really =) )

what is the name of the song they play from 2:10

  • The name of the composition is the 3rd. movt. of piano concerto #22.

  • Haha Salieri always seems to have a plate of snacks ready wherever he goes. XD

  • Well, i think the reason salieri is always eating sweet is because he swore chastity to god in his youth. I think that sweets are saleri's form of "indulgence"

  • Ooh! Mozart has a Haydn portrait on his wall! How nice.

  • i don't understand why they felt as if they could choose what Mozart can write about?

  • Because of the same reason that made all political establishments in all times to limit in one or another way the freedom of art.

And the formula is: political authority

    +repressive power

+need for maintaining a brainwashed society

    = censorship

By the way the movie depicts the indispencable element of all censorship machines: the clique of "appropriate men of the appropriate art", who consult the authorities what should be allowed or not.

  • what's a snuffbox?

anyway, i love mozart's concert and constanze's outfit then. =)

  • a snuffbox is a place you keep loose tobacco.

  • kapelmeister is so much fun!

  • Cynthia Nixon is such a talent!!!! even at such a young age!!!!

  • the best performance of mozart in that movie!!

  • Is it all true story?

  • Unfortunately not. It's a fantanstic story, but it is fiction. The character is based closely on Mozart, but it is fiction.

  • No. A lot of it is true. But in this movie, Mozart is portrayed as a feasting, drunk person, which we know he wasn't.

  • I don't think so. His relationship to his father must be more moderate. And Salieri was much more popular then he was in the film, i guess.

  • i agree

  • how i hate that maid...what a busy body

  • does anyone know the name of the piece he plays at 02: 15?

  • Piano concerto no 22, one of my personal favorite pieces.

  • Thank you! Gosh, I fell in love with the piece
