Reducing the capital operating budget is the goal and if GB is as unscrupulous as the US, excess retirement funds ( like US Social Security collections) can be shifted to the operating budget and replaced with IOU's. Ponzi schemes always fail.

Few facts wrong. The standard career arc for a UK cop is 30 yrs, after that they can retire you. It's also the point when their pension reaches full benefit, UK police pensions are still final salary & quite generous. One of my friends is a DS in the Met & earns up to £54K a year with O/T. The force in question asked the officers if they want to return as 'Specials'. Specials don't do full police work, they just help out with lesser duties. That said I don't blame them for not taking the offer!

Getting a gun in the UK is near to impossible. There was a guy who was buying guns in the US, transporting them illegally to the UK and selling them in ones or twos at a time on the street. Went on for years and he made a lot of money before he got caught and charged. But that incident just shows how hard it is to get a firearm in the UK.

a lot of special constables do the duty as part of there belief in social responsability they do the job for free like a volunteer firefighter, these officers been asked to come back have done years of service, most are not front line due to there age, they tend to work in community projects, they are been told, hey if u want u can still work on these projects by comming back and working as a spc

It was a nightmare. We ended up with a police force made up of inexperienced officers who would leave after a few years once they had some experience under their belt.
From what I recall, the number of negative incidents involving police officers rose considerably.

Few facts wrong. The standard career arc for a UK cop is 30 yrs, after that they can retire you. It's also the point when their pension reaches full benefit, UK police pensions are still final salary & quite generous. One of my friends is a DS in the Met & earns up to £54K a year with O/T. The force in question asked the officers if they want to return as 'Specials'. Specials don't do full police work, they just help out with lesser duties. That said I don't blame them for not taking the offer!

The public service are a PUBLIC service and should be dependent on the whim of the taxpayer, even if they don't like it.
The military can get screwed quite frankly. We need out of Afghan, and we shouldn't be bombing Libya.

@Slapbass13 but they didn't get a majority? They got roughly 37% iirc. The conservatives however seem to believe they have a divine mandate to screw over the poor

@64chris64 They got the most votes and the most seats. Under the first past the post system that entitles them to form a minority government or attempt a coalition parliament.
The conservatives have been voted in legally and legitimately- the electorate has given them the right.
Its easy to dismiss conservatives as evil and selfish and 'wanting to screw over the poor', but thats not the way it is. They are doing what they believe is fair and just, it just so happens you think they're wrong.

@Slapbass13 Wrong. They are evil and selfish, and they do want to screw over the powerless. They don't believe that what they are doing is fair and just because they don't have any notion whatsoever of fairness or justice.
