This is irresponsible, Italian greyhounds bones are very fragile especially during the first 15 weeks, and they should be confined when not under your supervision (given that your dog is only 11 weeks old in this video it would be a serious risk). If you knew she was doing this you shouldn't have let it continue. I understand the entertainment factor but the fact is it is incredibly irresponsible to let that behaviour go one once you have witnessed it.
it is funny until they break a leg jumping down, my italian greyhound has broke both front legs jumping down from things and it will cost you $2,000 each to fix. So some advice is do not let them jump down from sofas, over gates, or anything. My vet said she's had them come in with broken legs just from stepping off a curb wrong!
The only thing better than a funny animal video is a hilarious video description on said video. I wonder if she was sad when she realized she left her food and water behind?
Very cute! Those Italian greyhounds Are notorious for their jumping. One time when our Ruby was a puppy she jumped up to the edge of a 10 story apartment building and nearly fell! Luckily she had the smart instincts not to walk further once she felt the wind! So precious
We gotta find a good plan to persuade Blizzard to create a good couple of pre-TBC-, pre-WotLK- and pre-Cataclysm servers. Anyone having any ideas? If so, just reply it to this comment.
WoW would then be even more popular. I am one of those who miss The Burning Crusade.
its very cute ! I Have a Iggy they are the cutest dogs. but you should be cery careful with there little legs. they arent fully devolped until 18 mnths.. she is adorable
I think the broken leg thing is exagerated. Better safe then sorry though. It looks more like a dislocation waiting to happen. As far as music goes.... I think I would have chose the theme song for "Mission Impossible". That would have been funny as heck.
I have an IG that was a puppy of another IG I had. She chews on anything. I had a gate which was much thicker than that one but all plastic. One day I came home to find a neat little hole chewed through it. I guess she killed two birds with one stone. Teething and escapeing at the same time.
She's hilarious. Quite the problem solver. We're about to add our 3 IGGY to our pack and I just happen to find this on Squidoo. Love it!! Things to look forward to. :-) BTW, the editing to the music is awesome!
Okay I have a little Chihuahua who, at 6 weeks old and 1.2lbs, decided to scale the baby gate in the same fashion. Except my puppy figured out to to do it in about 3 minutes of being locked up. We didn't even get a chance to leave the house. And my Chihuahua is a terror(ist)!!! LOL
We want to get a whole family of ig's when we are done our residency.
Google "Dreambaby" gates on Amazon. I have 6 IGs and these gates are the best. They only have vertical bars. I also put acrylic panels over the bars to keep a pups head from going through. Best of all, they have a swing gate so you can easily go through. They use pressure on the walls so no holes needed. The video is too cute, but it's a leg break waiting to happen.
she was wrongfully accused, free the prisoner. innocent i tell you, innocent. one of my iggys confessed to the mugging at the airport, and she said it was for the dog treats. plus the chihuahua looked like a doggie terror(ist) lol. :)
Yeah, my italian greyhound climbs the fence we have in the kitchen too. You really can't buy mesh fence doors for them. They hurt themselves climbing them =( we now open the drawers next to it and put something in front that is way too high and solid to climb.
So cute! Iggies are as agile as cats and think they can do all these things. But keep in mind that IG's legs are very delicate and break easily. And it's an expensive fix! For future info...always keep their weight down to normal because extra weight makes broken legs even more likely.and harder to heal. Just FYI. Beautiful pupper!
My Afghan puppies taught themselves to climb the same kind of baby gate at eight weeks. Then to hear ten of them running around upstairs sounded like a herd of horses.
Love the Benny Hill theme music. Italian greyhounds are sooo smart. Here's a tip stack two puppy gates on top of each other, use a plastic one on top. They may get tired quickly trying to cle a 12 ft gate lol
Jun7per, trust me. That confinement is exactly what young Iggy's need. Ever had one?
That said, this video literally made me shoot coffee out of my nose all over the Iggy in my lap. We really needed a good laugh - we lost our Schipperke friend only four days ago. Thanks for sharing!
Probably for potty training. A puppy should not have free run of the house un supervised at this age. I am sure the puppy is loved, they don't want it getting into trouble when they are away. He said in the info the puppy peed on the carpet.
ummm cuz its a puppy dumbass.... maybe its to protect the dog from hurting its self.... or maybe they dont want shit and piss on their carpet.... your a real expert!! keep up the good work
This is so cute! I might be getting an Italian Greyhound puppy from my neighbors, since they're dog had a litter. This was so funny! Italian Greyhounds are so cute, aren't they?!
I have three and the fat one knocks the gate down while trying to jump over it and the others walk out gingerly non the worse for wear. i guess that is the price for being the youngest and the biggest. lol
When my IG was a puppy, she jumped four feet up to the edge of a 10 store building when we were in NYC. She was about one inch from falling over, thank god we were there to save her!!! That was a shocking expirence but since then she has been less jumpy.
Maggie will too! She is so cute and adorable. Welcome to the IG community
I used to have one that would literally jump a 5.5 foot block wall to get out of the backyard, only to go over and stand on the front porch! She had amazingly strong legs.
My wife and I had the same trouble with our Italian Greyhound. She would climb over everything. I felt bad putting her in the kennel because I wanted her to be able to move about the kitchen. Sure enough she would escape! I love this Breed an we will never buy anything else!
We have had 3 Westies, and they were such good dogs. Now we have an IG and they are hands down the CRAZIEST dogs on the planet! Never a dull moment for sure! and yeah...they jump baby gates! Love the video ...I laughed thru the whole thing, and the music was Perfect!
This is really funny! My Whippet scaled over the largest dog gate ever made even with plexiglass over it so he could not climb it. I love your little dog! You must have your hands full.
HA! i have an iggy with identical markings to your Maggie. Good luck with the gate situation, my pup, Zinny (1 year 2 mos) finds them amusing now that she's all grown up...while the other dogs sit and stare at what's on the other side, Zinny gets her energy out by leaping back and forth over it about 50 times. maggie is adorable- zinny's mini twin!
I have two Iggies, and your reminds me of when they were puppies. They are VERY determined when they want to be, aren't they? My boy, Joey, looks similar to Maggie. He came from a breeder in Missouri, did yours?
That's hilarious!! Mine did that when he was a puppy too. Only thing is his gate was 3' tall with nothing to climb up (solid wood). We later watched him completely JUMP it. They are great!
That's vinyl-coated wire, and it's not sharp. It may have been a bit uncomfortable, but it didn't do any damage. The jump from the top to the floor is what would worry me, since their legs and knees can be fragile. Maggie seems to be no worse for wear though. :)
Yep, ours did the same thing, though he would get a running leap at it first ;p We ended up getting a large gate that only had vertical bars (so nothing to climb up on). But until he was about 6 months he could fit between the bars. -.-
OMG! I have a 6 month old italian greyhound and she did the exact same thing when she was this age she even looks just like mine. They climb like monkeys. haha, I love that you caught this on film. So cute.
great video! definatly a broken leg waiting to happen though. We stack them two high and my big guy can still simply sail over them... it keeps the little girl in place though. Goddamn those little cuties!
OUCH! Broken leg waiting to happen!! I use 2 of those gates, one on top of the other. They almost reach the top of the door. But my one female is a jumper not a climber. Good luck with that fire ball! Shes a cutie.
Cuteeee! :)
