Hard to find really good original takes on a guitar master piece like this one, yours is outstanding! Duane would be proud of you. :) I think Leo would dig it too. Good job!
I clicked on this video just to listen to it, minimized this page, and thought it was actually Duane, until I finished what I was doing and saw the last half of the video.
open e... hes good...he had a hard time on the same part I do...and he made the same gut wrenching face i do when im tryin to conquer the song, which ill never do
One of the best versions I've heard - a virtual dead-ringer for the real thing.
Just got back from seeing ABB in NYC at the Beacon and posted a couple videos from it. The quality isn't the best (old and early Nikon Coolpix) but hey . . . I was there!
Nice one man - I play it in openE - same shapes - the tricky bit is not to rush the harmonics, which 8 out of 10 times I fail to do - but hey we're only human!
amazing, just amazing. im gonna try to learn this song asap. and hopefully itll sound just like when you ploay it c: though i have my doubts about that
That was really great. I think you play that as well as I have ever heard anyone play it...I would also like to know what guitar you are playing. There are not a lot of guitar players who can transfer the real feeling of the song like you did in this video.
The sound is just beautiful-you did a terrific job on that. Kind of reminds me of Alex de Grassi's sound. Very clear and ringing and yet mellow. Gorgeous job man.
You play beautifully! Your guitar sounds very warm and very responsive to the nuances that you want it to exude. I play the same tune since I was in college and I'm a businessman now, but still manage to perform a couple og live gigs every week and I would always include that on my 3rd set as closing out song. And I have not witnessed any performance of Little Martha with so much emotion like you delivered iun this video.
From Manila, Philippines, I say, "MABUHAY!" and God bless...
Great job, beautiful sounding guitar. I am currently learning Bron-Yr-Aur by Zeppelin. Perhaps when I get much better I can try to do this masterpiece as well.
Yes the Allman Bro's played many of there songs in E B E G# B E tuning because that is what almost all of slide guitarists use so dunae thought to himself, well i dont feel like changing tunings so he wrote some song that didn't even have slide in them like this one in that tuning also. When i play this song i don't use a capo. i just tune it up to open E
The only reason I use a capo is because I use heavier strings that put a lot of tension on the neck when you tune them up to open E. If you tune down to open D and use a capo, tension on the neck isn't an issue.
wow very good job and ur rigth it is in E when they play on eat a peach and ive been listenin to the bros all my life which is like 18 years lol but god i cant stop listenin to them there amazing rip skidog cant w8 to see them at the becan this april ABB4life
Thanks, also do you know who played it for the ABs? And was it 2 guitars? Did they do it the way you did the open D-> capo -> sounding E?
Also, have you seen the ABs recently? They are at an incredible plateau right now - Derek and Warren SMOKE! I have heard Greg say they are playing better than ever since the 60s and I believe it.
Also, if you can catch Derek's Band it is a great show. He did a Ravi Shankar orchestral piece with a slide! Amazing.
Will, On "Eat a Peach", Duane Allman and Dicky Betts played thus tune on 2 guitars. I believe the tune was in E -- I don't know if they tuned up to E or down to D with a capo. I've been listening to the ABB on and off for the last 35 years with a lot of pleasure. There have been many excellent guitarists over the years, including the two current ones.
