Could you say why this gull is thought to be a hybrid Glaucous x Herring Gull, rather than just a Kumliens/Iceland Gull. Most large gulls seem to be capable of producing hybrids? The picture is too poor to makeout the colour of the mandibles but it looks like there is at least a black smudges on either or both upper / lower mandibles toward the tip of the bill. What colour is the bill & what kind of 'gony spot' did it have. Presumably it is a mature gull in winter plumage? Interesting picture.
