Lead singer's voice blossoms when he sings louder, which makes you appreciate the restraint in the first two stanzas. The recording equipment is clearly not ideal, which means they did a very good job to sound this good.

Anyone commenting the performance of the lead simply has no better thing to do than point out other people's limits and ignoring their own. This performance, in spite of the potential vocal mistakes, is of incredible emotional intensity. And it is more than enough.

The leading part in this song is in no way incredibly difficult. The solo part in the version is also neither completely correct melodically nor rhythmically.

I have to say I agree. There are parts where the final consonants are neglected (something my singing teacher flips out over) (although that may just be recording) and parts where he stops being legato ('wi hith her did not agree'). And he keeps coming off the notes really early.

And my ability or inability to do better means jack shit. By this logic nobody can review a video game and give it a low score, since they don't know how to make games and therefore can't do better.

The arrangement is fine, but the original one (by John Kelley, for the Whiffenpoofs of 1986) is much cleaner. The second verse is also original to the Whiffenpoofs.

Altogether a nice interpretation, but anyone who likes this should check out some of the Whiff versions.

May I just say this is fantastic? I'm doing this to help me get my Grade 8 Classical and I have to say this is by far the best version I have ever seen- well done! The vocal accompaniment and harmonies were brilliant.... 5 Stars all round. Keep singing, you have superb talents. :)
